This was recommended to me by my friend Saman.

آپ کسی سے اتنی محبت کریں کہ آپ خود، خود نہ رہیں، وہ بن جاۂیں۔

This was my second book from her with Bin Roye being the first one. I loved Bin Roye but I wasn’t sure about this one especially when the initial chapters seemed quite boring, but I am glad I was wrong. This is the love story of Hania and Aabi. Though it was like insta love at some occasions, it became so much more than that, so much deeper. I loved the premise and the execution was very well done. I did, however have trouble with the repetition of many things. I feel like this book could’ve been written in a lot less pages and that is the main reason for me taking so much time reading it. It kept being too much to handle at times so I put it down to pick it up later. This is the main reason it is not a 5 star. I am dying to give it full stars but it irritated me so much and the too-cheesy dialogues at times too. There, I said it.

But looking back, the book had so much of an effect on me. I cried constantly as I read the last 40 or so pages and it took me 3 hours just to read them because I had to close the book after every second line and calm myself and take a breath before reading more. I don’t think I would’ve felt as I did if I wasn’t so attached to the characters and knew so much about them thanks to the extra detail. So maybe it was a good thing after all.

I constantly listened to Ariana Grande-Breathin’ while reading those last pages.

We start with Hania getting a job in Pakistan and we go back and forth in time as the story moves forward and we learn about her past and her reason to be there.

I knew the big twist already because I read a review full of spoilers which took away my urgency to read more. I knew it was coming but it only made me feel it more.

I’d like to say that I was not a big fan of how the American atmosphere was portrayed. Though much of it was true, it felt too much at times and I guess we can all agree that most of the world is like that now. We are all too busy in our lives and I doubt that people who live there don’t have feelings. I also hated so many clichés and perfect people. It’s okay to have a few flaws.

Lol, I had forgotten I had so many problems with it. But the end (way way after the big twist) is what made me forget all those issues. It was magnificently written.

I would recommend it but be warned it’s a long story and so many lines are repeated.
For me, it was worth it. (I didn’t think it would be.)

Bhot sare scene repeat ho rahe the jo boring lag Rahe the Maine skim kiye...overall nice predictable story ...kafi saalun Purani book Hai issiliye I think story utni exciting nai lagi ...but I like writing style (mai thora sa roye bhi 👉👈) and there was no extra character or drama...straight forward story thi
Satisfying ending
Spoiler alert:
Jis tarha ki ibad ki personality thi, jaisi uski harkatein thi wo pehle hi Pata chl raha tha yeh tikne wala nai hai ....bollywood mai starting mai jo character Marne wala hota usko asa hi dikhaya jata hai 😂

If there's one Romance Novel, I adore, then it is Mata-e-Jaan Hai Tu. It has a fantastic story, characters and ending. It keeps you in awe all the time and you can read it in one sitting.
I loved Hania Sajjad and Ibad Uzair throughout the book. They are the purest characters you can find in a romantic novel.

A MUST READ.

Mata E Jaan Hai Tu.. What an amazing and true love story. I can't believe that someone can love that deeply. I couldn't stop crying while reading this. Just in love with character of Ebaad Uzair. he is simply amazing. End is quite nice and satisfying but the worst part is death of Ebaad. I wish he was alive till the end :( but amazing story and characters were mind blowing. Well done Farhat Ishtiaq. I have no words to express my feeling about the love between haniya and ebaad. its just simply amazing.

Okay I cried a little. Second half was beautiful.
Excessive use of english kinda tried to ruin the vibe.
I skimmed the date nights because It was nothing. Like everything was perfect I am not interested in reading all-good for 40 pages.

یہ میرے خیال سے 2013 یا 14 میں پڑھا تھا ،اردو کا میرا پہلا ناول تھا اور اس وقت عابی کی موت پہ دو چار آنسو ہم نے بھی بہائے تھے 😅

It was a little boring in the start with all the beatitude and reassurance to each other and story has no turn, but it became better with a huge crush. She wrote it well but she did the repetition lot.
The death of the Protagonist, Ebad Uzair, who felt like a less human and more angel was saddening.

ASSALAM O ALIKUM. OH MY GOD it was a fabulous novel. This novel Made me cry so hard. But still I would praise the writer for doing such a good job. I still feel so bad for Haniya and Ibbad's Family. This novel is and example of a good love story . It's sad it does not end on a good note b/c of the hero's death but still .........

Well i am tongue-tied about the work of ma'am farhat ishtiaq.
I started the novel 2 months back but i lack steadiness for which i remorse and would recommend new readers to complete it as soon as possible.
I am chaotic on from where i start to portray such majestic work of farhat ishtiaq ma'am.
If you are desirous to visualize a flawless work of depicting a love story you are on the right route so move forrader, grab the book and dont halt.
I didn't discerned any of the character a bad choice to read in this novel.
Ibad uzair rocks the story with untainted fondness for all the other characters here.
Haniya sajad and other people were altruistic on duty towards one another and conveys a great lesson to our society having emotion of hate for each other or have no concern for what other endure in his/her life.
Believe in Almighty ALLAH is the thing we listen the most in islamic gatherings as he is best deviser of all time and it's all about the faith one should have in him that what makes haniya sajad rekindle his life and live for ibad's parents.
Hats off to farhat ishtiaq endeavours and surely i'm looking forward to read more novels written by ma'am.

The only think I love about this novel is the OST, sung by Bilal Khan for the Drama adaptation.
The story was a bit different, from the typical pattern of our Desi novels. The plethora of emotions between Hania and Ibad, like Oh my God! I was like ‘yuck’ at so many points. The dialogues have the feels like you have read them before, totally predictable. Then the male protagonist is brutally murdered off. And then heroine picked up her pieces after a while and goes on to her Susral. Thats where the story failed for me, like how can a story with such a good start can end like this?

Mata-e-Jaan Hai Tu is an emotional rollercoaster, a novel that tugs at the heartstrings from the very beginning. Farhat Ishtiaq once again proves her mastery in crafting heartfelt stories with characters that resonate deeply. The love story of Haniya and Ibad is beautifully portrayed, filled with sincerity and passion. Their journey is one of love, sacrifice, and the harsh realities of life. While you wish for their happy ending, the novel explores how life often takes unexpected turns.

Farhat Ishtiaq’s writing shines in her ability to convey raw emotions, making the reader feel every joy, sorrow, and heartache of the characters. The love between Haniya and Ibad is pure, but their fate is bittersweet, making this a story that lingers in your heart long after you've finished reading. It’s a beautifully crafted tale of love and loss, filled with tender moments that may leave you in tears.

Overall, Mata-e-Jaan Hai Tu is a deeply emotional and captivating read, perfect for those who love stories about real, imperfect love and the inevitable challenges that come with it.

Mata e jaan hai tu is beautifully written by Farhat Ishtiaq and this is the work that I really found different from her other works, like the part of america and university site are defined very well,we can imagine each and every scene after reading that. This is the story full of emotions, relations with friends and family and there is no villain in the story thats something special thing in it.
Haniya Sajjad and Ibaad Uzair, both are written very well, Ibaad and Adeel's friendship scenes gives us memorable moments to think, I loved the part when Haniya met Ibaad's parents and all the beautiful scenes with them, those scenes were most interesting and emotional for me, I enjoyed that part more then Ibaad-Haniya's part. This isn't a too much long novel so you can go through it, you'll not be bored.
Must Read !!

4.5 🌟

I have read the last 100 pages crying 😭 How does Farhat Ishtiaq always manages to rip up my heart and hit the nail on all right places 💓

Farhat Hashmi has easily entered my favourite authors list, from جو بچے ہیں سنگ سمیٹ لو to ہمسفر and now متاع جاں ہے تو farhat Ishtaiq has perfected the formula of gripping my heart, making it ache, letting me devour the pain, the love, the tension and the drama. All her novels ( or atleast these three) start with me feeling a bit iffy over the cheesiness but then they flip me over and make me desperately root for the characters.

Now coming to متاع جاں ہے تو it started okay and I wasn’t sure where the story was going (but we place our trust in Farhat ma’am) and then عابی was introduced and you get the gist of what will happen but then the way it all unraveled your heart beats to different rhythms. First the relationship between ہنی and عابی was so sweet and nice that you eat it up and then the present timeline of the parents, the building anticipation and tension, the grief and sorrow that undertones their story makes you ache for them and finally the wrap up - it gutted my heart and stitched it back up. All in all it was a beautifully told story and I absolutely loved it.

I decided to read this book after looking at so many positive reviews but I did not like it. There was nothing new in it. It was too boring with too much detail of the date nights and conversations.

I picked up this book as I heard it's sad and heartbreaking you would cry and all and i don't disagree with that (Although I didn't cry)

But I am glad I read it. It's one of my favourite novels, sad yet comforting, not much drama. And the character of Aabi my love for this character grew more with each passing chapter, He was an angel. Haniya and Ibad their love for each other was the purest i read till date.
(It was about Love, Respect & Family)
