Ietwat teleurstellende anthologie rond Prince. Fotografen vertellen over hun ervaringen met de koninklijke paarsheid zodat het meer een 'how can I make it about them'-verzameling wordt. De foto's zelf zijn paparazzi-achtig en wazige weergaves van zijn optredens. Helemaal onbegrijpelijk is de onscherpe coverfoto.

Prince: Icon is nothing short of a radiant celebration of an artist whose brilliance defies easy definition. This beautifully crafted book captures the electricity, mystery, and genius of Prince with the reverence he deserves. Every page feels like stepping closer to the purple flame that he was — a soul too expansive for any single genre, any single moment.

The book reminds us that Prince was not just a musician, but a force of nature:

“Prince didn’t just play music — he became it, bending sound, spirit, and sexuality into something utterly his own.”

Through intimate photographs, reflections, and quotes from those who knew and admired him, Prince: Icon presents a portrait that is both majestic and deeply human. One passage captures his relentless drive perfectly:

“For Prince, creation was survival — and he refused to be ordinary even for a second.”

The energy of his performances practically hums off the pages. The book doesn’t just document — it feels like Prince: defiant, playful, spiritual, and revolutionary.

“He lived in his own orbit, spun from purple dreams and undying defiance.”

What I loved most was how Prince: Icon honors not just his genius, but his why — his refusal to be caged by expectation, his battle for ownership of his music, his devotion to freedom in every sense.

If you love Prince, this book will leave you moved, inspired, and aching to dive back into his vast universe. If you are new to him, it will ignite a fascination that will never leave you. Prince: Icon is exactly that — a testament to a man who was, and always will be, iconic.
