A novelization of the upcoming film by the same name follows a class of young men attending a boy's prep school in the 1950s as they face their futures and the spectre of anti-Semitism. Original. Movie tie-in.
Not the 1992 movie with Brendan Fraser (and Matt Damon, Chris O'Donnell, Ben Affleck, several others) but the novelization of the same. The writing is dreck and shows evidence of feverishly avoiding all contact with an editor. The book is a passable rendering of the plot of the film (Jewish boy from semi-rural Pennsylvania gets recruited by a fancy New England prep school because of his football skills, but has to keep his identity hidden in his new rich WASPy environment and endures snobby antisemitic prejudice and sabotage), with a few alterations in details. The movie is far superior, for its genre, from what I recall. Fun seeing all those young actors at the start of their careers.
