When not properly trained and socialized, parrots are prone to developing behavioral problem, including aggression and self-mutilation. Many parrot owners face these problems and need guidance on how to solve them. this is one of the only books on the market to focus on aggression in pet parrots. The author has many years of experience training birds and other animals in a wide range of settings, including Disney's Animal Kingdom, Six Flags Marine World and the Chicago Zoological Society.
An absolute must read for any serious parrot owner. It's better suited to the beginner or novice (and not so much the experienced), but anyone can learn something useful from this book. Moreover the experienced owner willl enjoy the bibliography at the back!
If you own a parrot, you need to read this book. I learned so much by reading this. I used the tips in this book to solve a problem with an neglected parrot I took in. So grateful I found this information, so are my birds! 👍🏻👍🏻
I own five parrots, three of them large. I have found this book to be extremely helpful in modifying how I approach problems with my parrots. Even after owning parrots for ten years now I still feel like there is always room to grow and this books helps with that. This book is especially helpful in laying out exactly what parrot aggression looks like and the different types. Each type needs to be handled differently. It turns out there really is always a reason why a parrot bites and its up to us to figure it out. This book was a good buy and I plan to re-read it a couple of times.
