Baseball Fever

Rate this book
Ezra Feldman, almost ten, likes baseball more than anything else in the world. But his father cannot understand why his son would rather rot his brains watching men swinging big wooden sticks than read a book or play chess. Can an unwanted car trip, a grumpy old professor, and a surprising chess victory help father and son find a little common ground - and convince Ezra's dad that cheering for the national pastime isn't completely off base?

This book is about a boy named Ezra that loves everything about baseball. He always want to watch, read, and study it. He faces a problem when his dad tells him he can't watch any baseball for the rest of the season because Ezra forgot to do something important for his him. He makes a bet with his dad that if Ezra can beat him in a game of chess, he will be allowed to watch baseball and his dad will take him to a live baseball game. I liked this book because although it wasn't all about baseball, it was based around it. I also liked this book because it portrays a father-son relationship that's very unique and interesting as it progresses.

This book is generally good, it is about Ezra, who is in love with baseball. His father, though, doesnt understand the importance of baseball. He thinks you should be reading books and playing chess. However a conference trip to Albany changes everything between them, all thanks to Mr. Strauss.

This is a great book, In the very beginning Ezra is a nine year old boy that loves baseball more then anything. Then he turns ten and gets a baseball encyclopedia and learns a lot about baseball. His dad is worried about him because of his love for the game.

The book was particularly boring and the plot was tame. I predicted the ending after reading the blurb and i got it right, usually that means the book isn't great.

This is a good story about fathers and sons. It would appeal to some reluctant readers.

Nice story about son and father finding a compromise using chess and baseball. Even though the main character is 9 going on 10, it is appropriate for 8 year olds. Theme: finding common ground.
