Riah Arora has traveled from Italy to San Francisco to find her twin. Born in India and separated from her sister at birth in an era when parents didn’t want baby girls, even she isn’t sure if she’s on a mission to deliver a message from their ailing birth mother . . . or to con her sister like one of the marks she expertly robs to make her living.

Anjali Murphy—successful owner of a trendy café, married to a well-to-do lawyer—has an agenda of her own. But when she and her sister finally meet, they feel an instant bond and connection only a twin can understand. Even so, Riah is envious of Anjali’s life, and she seizes the opportunity to pull one last, lucrative con.

A week later, Riah wakes up in the hospital and is mistaken for Anjali. Moreover, she’s told by Sadie Harper, a homicide detective, that Anjali’s husband, Michael, is dead. Who killed Michael? And where is the real Anjali? The detectives are convinced that this is a simple crime-of-passion case—but as Riah struggles to recover her memory and answer these questions, she discovers a plot that runs deeper than bloodlines.

Next of Twin follows identical twins Riah and Anjali, as they meet for the first time and decide to switch lives so that Anjali can meet their dying mother. After Anjali leaves, Riah is attacked by Anjali's husband, Michael. When Michael ends up dead, Riah wakes up in the hospital with little memory. But nothing is as it seems in this debut novel by Jass Aujla.

This book had me sucked in during the first few chapters. While some parts seemed a little unrealistic - Riah and Anjali had never met before and they trusted each other pretty instantly - the story was very gripping and kept me engaged. I thought the ending could have been done a little better, and seemed a little rushed. I wish there was also more story of what Anjali was up to while she was gone.

The different story lines were engaging and kept the story interesting. There were a few different characters and possible suspects, so it left you guessing the whole time. Overall I really enjoyed this book and look forward to seeing more from this author in the future.

So much potential here story-wise, and this was a real page-turner, but ultimately it underperformed and felt anti-climatic. I was left wanting more, but unsure what ...

Twin Riah is a con artist. Her long lost twin Anjali is married and owns an art cafe. When the two are brought together, the reader starts to uncover that the story isn't quite what is expected. There are several great plot twists and points where you think you know where it is going and it makes a big turn. A few parts were a tad far fetched and there were some holes in the murder investigation, definitely no the quality investigation you'd expect from a potential FBI agent! But, overall I was thoroughly engaged in the story itself and trying to figure out how it was all going to get untangled. I look forward to future books from the author!

Excellent premise expertly carried out.Who's the victim? Who's in control here? I usually do not read this type of story, but I have to say I would have no hesitation picking up another piece of writing by this wonderful writer.

This book is about twin sisters, life circumstances and their actions. I really enjoyed the story, twists, pace and how each chapter switched from one twin's perspective. For her first novel, I'm impressed with how well everything flowed together. It's an entertaining read that will keep you guessing.

I was quickly immersed into the storyline and loved how each character was weaved so brilliantly into the plot. There were so many twists and turns and just when I thought I figured it out, I was surprised with yet another twist! This book will keep you on your toes until the very end!

This book is not my usual genre but I enjoyed it. I did not guess the ending so that was a great plus. I wish it expanded on the relationship between the twins more and the history of the adopted twin.

Next of Twin by Jass Aujla is available now in eBook and Physical Book
⭐️⭐️⭐⭐ Book Review

Riah and Anjali are identical twins, separated at birth. Riah is envious of Anjali’s bougie lifestyle and travels from Italy to find her. Anjali is desperate to meet her dying mother. Following the reunion, Riah wakes up in a hospital and is mistaken of Anjali, Anjali is MIA, and her husband Michael has been murdered. Sadie Harper, a homicide detective takes on the investigation. Will the mystery be solved before more chaos erupts?

Next of twin is a suspense-thriller filled with never ending secrets, lies, family drama, jealousy, and complex relationships. I was completely dissolved in this novel. It was a fast paced read that kept me engaged and guessing the entire time. With every turn of the page I was introduced to a new plot twist that kept me on my toes until the very end. Every time I thought I had the answer, Aujla threw a wrench in the story and caught me off guard. Each character was likable and well written. The story line was well thought out and read seamlessly throughout.

I did find the novel to be improbable at times, but not enough to deter me from finishing the novel. Next of Twin is Aujla’s debut novel. I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys the “mistaken identity” trope. I am excited to see what this author has in store for her next novel.

Such a good book! I'm a fan of twin/swapped/mistaken identity stories, so I was drawn to this one right away. It was SO much more than I expected!

Riah and Angeli are twins separated at birth. They reconnect later in life, and chaos ensues. Angeli wants to meet her birth mother, Riah wants Angeli's seemingly perfect life, and someone ends up dead.

The characters of both women are detailed and realistic. I really enjoyed their interactions together, as well as their separate stories. Having a couple of sets of twins in my life, I can understand the bond, even though they just met each other.

The best part of this story is the many twists and turns it takes along its path to the conclusion! So much happened that I wasn't expecting, and nothing was as it seemed at first. I won't share any spoilers, but I will say that those last few chapters are a thrill ride!

5 stars!

I really enjoyed this twisted twin thriller. Riah and Anjali are identical twins born in Delhi, India, but separated at birth. Riah eventually ends up in Italy, surviving as a con artist. Anjali owns a popular art café in San Francisco and is married to a handsome and successful lawyer.

Riah decides to seek out her welloff sister in the states. But this is a thriller, so you know their reunion is going to cause trouble… And by trouble I mean someone ends up dead. You’ll have to read the book to find out who and why.

This was a well-written, suspenseful story that kept me guessing and turning the pages. It’s told from both sisters’ points of view and I was never quite sure which one to trust.

Next of Twin is full of many twists and surprises. The story of twins that are separated at birth and are reunited many years later sounds typical at first but that is one of the twists. Ms. Auijla builds suspense and intrigue with each turn of the page. The last chapters read very quickly and it is not the ending you think is coming. The cast of characters is varied but shows what a small world it is. Each character is well thought out and has a rule to play. Detective Sadie Harper nearly steals the show and I would love to hear more about her. Next of Twin is an excellent way to spend an evening or two.

I think what I liked best about Next of Twin was how every character was fully developed with their own motivations and devious plans. It reminded me of Jim Thompson's The Grifters in the way everyone is in on some sort of a con and have the complexity of family and love relationships which might -- or might not -- keep them from double-crossing the others. There were no side characters filling in time and space -- everyone was too busy trying to figure out how to squeeze the most out of the next person. And Next of Twin really keeps the reader guessing right to the last page on who's partnering up with who on the final con. Highly recommended!

Next of Twin is a page turner that captivates the reader with a delicate and well crafted balance of intrigue, mystery and crime. The twists and turns of the story make it a refreshing read from start to finish. You are wont to delve into the minds of the characters and anticipate their next move. And then they pivot just so slightly along the way and the intrigue begins all over again!

Being an identical twin myself, I was intrigued by Jass Aujla's book, Next of Twin. I enjoyed her fresh definitions of what it means to be a twin beyond the good twin/bad twin trope. Unexpected twists and turns abound and it is ultimately a very enjoyable read.

My husband has an identical twin, so Jass Aujla's book caught my interest. The story is much more complicated—and suspenseful—than anything my husband has gone through... lots of twists and turns!
