My enemy doesn’t make the rules behind closed doors… Even if he’s my boss.
Cade Armanelli might be an infamous hacker with billionaire status who operates better alone, but I earned my spot working alongside him... Whether he likes it or not.
It’s precisely why I’m on the first plane to an undisclosed location for our cybersecurity team retreat. I’m ready to prove to our company that I can handle anything… Except sharing a cabin and a bed with my meticulous, elusive boss.
He’s antisocial. Ruthless. Enemy number one. Unfortunately, he’s also number one in tatted, dark, and dangerous. I quickly come to find that not only are his hacking skills perfection, but so is his performance in the bedroom.
Not that it matters. I have a job to keep, a heart to protect, and our nation’s data to secure. Cade can’t help me with any of that. He’s a distraction. One I have to avoid… Even if it means I’m spray painting a red line down our bed and keeping my boss on his side.
Corrupted Chaos is a light mafia standalone romance with forced proximity, steam, and a tech mogul that will fight and grovel for a HEA with his spitfire woman.
Shain Rose is an author of Contemporary Romance and New Adult novels. She fights for love one word a time. Those happily ever afters can be difficult to get to sometimes!
When she isn't writing, she's spending the days with Doc G, Liv and Gray Gray, and their wild golden retriever. She and Doc G drink way too much coffee, eat way too much candy, and fight like they've been married for hmm how long has it been now?
Life is good when the kids are behaving.
On the off chance she's not writing or spending time with family and friends, she's calling them to talk. And if no one answers.... then she's reading and watching trashy TV.
EDIT: since commenters have a problem with ME a BLACK READER saying i don’t want to read a black woman writing about white women when, white woman they already dominate the reading experiences, let me elaborate and tell you what i didn’t like about this book since that’s not a good enough reason to give a book 1 star. the writing is atrocious, i could’ve found better written by a 5 year old on wattpad. the dialogue sucked and was the corniest shit i ever read. the characters were basic and the main bitch was the pick me-ist, pick me bitch to ever be written. plot was unrealistic, why the fuck would a billionaire have a hacking BUSINESS? what since does that fucking make? very clear this book was written to appeal to tik tok and that’s just not not what i look for in my books! could write better smut in my sleep with my hands tied to my toes. hope that was better!
writing just isn’t for me ALSO very tired of black authors making their main female characters white, she’s described as having pale skin but it’s 2022 let’s stop writing white characters because you think that’ll get you more reads. ANNOYING
“I can’t look away from you, haven’t been able to since the moment I met you” my heart ✨✨✨
I don’t know how I feel about this do I love this ? No but did I hate this ? No so here we are I wanted to read this as soon as I read between commitment and betrayal because I adored the relationship between cade and Izzy I JUST DONT LIKE THE FACT THIS WAS RATHER PLOTLESS AND PREDICTABLE 😭
“I’m always watching, Izzy,” Cade said in warning,” it’s literally the first page and its giving im always watching you mike wazowski ALWAYS WATCHING 😂
The story starts off with Izzy who’s a twin to Delilah and was in love with one of her best friends Dante as they both work in the cyber security department bearing in mind that Dante is the associated to the mafia . However Dante fell in love with her twin Delilah and they’r happily married. Dante’s cousin being the mafia boss needed someone to go undercover to take down the Albanians making Izzy the perfect candidate as she was previously a drug addict that’s when Cade Armanelli comes into the picture he’s the younger brother and is super against an “Addict” going undercover when there’s going to be drugs everywhere and that’s when they both clash and in this process Delilah gets kidnapped however Dante gets her back and the operation is a success
“So, guess that relationship’s over,”
“Jesus, Cade. What the hell? Have you been there the whole time?”
“Long enough to see you spray paint his face and ruin his car.” in her defence her ex was a prick he literally fat shamed her so not on 😡
Now a few years on Cade is Izzy’s boss and he’s what you can say one the best hackers whilst also being one of the most powerful men being the brother to the mafia leader. He keeps an eye on everything Delilah does it’s safe to say he’s OBSESSED but he’s not happy when he sees that izzy just won’t let the Albanian incident go and she wants revenge for her sister so because of this he sends her to a different city so that she can stop trying to hack they're systems. Your wondering how does Cade know she’s doing that well OBVIOUSLY he’s hacked her system 😂😂 so the story moves on to Izzy fighting with her boyfriend at the time and Cade hearing everything after that disastrous break up Izzy spray paints her ex’s car whilst Cade watched in the shadow. As the book moves on we see the undeniable connection between the pair but the real question is will they put the “HATE” aside
Izzy
“Now I just wanted to make them proud, do something better for the world than be an addict. ” 😭🥺
Izzy I loved she was just soo unhinged and I felt for her the way she just couldn’t forget how she was an addict and the way her and her best friend would always have candy canes to keep them away from drugs. Izzy always felt as a disappointment the sister that had anger management problems the addict the broken one. Cade saw past through all of that and actually loved her fiery personality
Cade
“I’m also Cade Armanelli, a man who can cause nuclear warfare, a member of the most powerful mafia family in the world. A man who’s more than happy to shed blood when someone tampers with what’s his. Do you get that?”
Cade was phenomenal he was the i don’t have the time of day until it came to Izzy he was strong, possessive and smart like what else do we need and might I add covered in tattoos😍😍😍
“You sat on his lap for damn near an hour.”
“This hoodie his?” “When I didn’t answer fast enough, Cade swiftly pulled one side of the fabric up and brought his blade down the middle of it. It cut fast, almost effortlessly.”
I loved when the work team when to a retreat and Cade had Izzy’s room swapped when he saw Rodney flirting with her but then to top it off when they’r at the camp fore Cade saw RED when Rodney pulled Izzy on to his lap whilst wearing Rodney’s hoodie for him to then slam her into his lap placing a bracelet on her arm with diamonds that’s locked on to her and you guessed it he had the key 😂
Now what I didn’t like the plot was just lacking like yes there was some twists but they just wernt mind blowing like yes I had fun reading it but was like OMG I wasn’t expecting this NO and it dragged for sometime
Spoilers Ahead ⚠️⚠️⚠️
“If you can’t talk about it, put it in writing on a screen and let me read it.” I took my time typing in his Notes app, tears streaming down my face. Yet, Cade wiped them away, one by one, over and over again. Patiently, softly, caringly.”
The story about Izzy and how she lost her first boyfriend was soo sad the way he was an addict and groomed her for then him to overdose and write her a suicide letter that she had memorised word for word was heart breaking and how Cade sat there and wiped her tears as she told him.
When Lucas OD’d and Izzy was at the hospital I loved how Cade brought her candy canes so that it would trigger her. What I didn’t get was how quickly Cade found her after she was kidnapped like that’s the main plot twist why was it soo fast 😭😭😭
“I’ll nuke your whole goddamn country if any of you come near her again. How about that for her being an Untouchable?” Cade growled, and I saw the way his whole body shook in rage, veins popping on his forearms, like a pressure cooker about to blow.”
The part when Izzy thought cade expected her to forgive her kidnappers that ended her sobriety of 11 years only for the lights to turn and Cade slitting every man’s throat in the room was attractive i think I’m sick in the headd 💀
“Fine. Should I grovel more?” He smirked like he had a fucking sense of humor all of a sudden. “More?” “Well, you have half my savings, a new penthouse, roses every day that you throw away, and the title of an Untouchable. I didn’t stop caring for you even if I was gone, dollface. Even if I let you go, I was still going to feed you every day—”
I still don’t get why Cade left Izzy after she was kidnapped like I get that you feel responsible for it and it shouldn’t have happened on your watch but it’s over now I hate when the MMC leaves the girl for her own safety after making her fall in love you should have thought about that before 😤😡
Spoilers End Here ⚠️⚠️⚠️
“We’re not stable.” “Of course we aren’t.” He shrugged”
If your looking for a book where both characters are unhinged and possessive then this is for you but remember the plot twists don’t really twist but it’s a fun read and as I say in every review I don’t read smut but if you do then this is for you because god was I SKIPPING😂
this hurt my poor addled brain a bit. the prologue was word soup with too much backstory, family dynamics, and unbelievable job bits. i'd like to believe that a good story about a lady hacker exists out there, this book however made me wonder how this chick could hold down any job. and the hero's only personality trait from what i could tell was the ability to erotically asphyxiate a woman. after the first finger bang scene i decided to tap out.
Shain Rose writes the best emotional rollercoasters, but she took it to a whole new level with Corrupted Chaos. Angst, spice, and a subtly interwoven focus on mental health made this unputdownable.
I couldn't get enough of Cade and Izzy. I loved the intrigue surrounding Cade and the strength Izzy showed. They were perfect together, and I found myself wishing their story would never end. And the spice? Wow. Shain writes the best spice, but she really outdid herself with this one!
This read wasn’t for me... I couldn’t connect with the main characters who had some issues of their own, no emotional engagement mostly smut and I was not in the mood for toxicity. However, I liked the cover and the title. Dnf @ 31%
I could not put this book down. I got the advanced copy this morning and read it nonstop! Shain creates such an amazing connection with her characters. Cade and Izzy's story is phenomenal. The elevator scene and so many more are so spicy you'll need antacids. I cannot recommend this book enough!!!!
This book comes with incredible reviews so I am convinced that I did not read the same book. These characters were so confusing. It seemed as though the author just threw in a bunch of tropes to cover a lot of bases without actually delving into them and developing them. Really just felt like they were hoping for the best. The spice was not that well written either. I was bored.
Cade is related to a mob but somehow is the head of data security, a hacker and owns Stonewood Enterprises. While this is fiction, I would have liked a logical explanation on how any of those career titles tied together because I am not quite sure what Stonewood Enterprises does.
Izzy also seemed to lack any sort of depth. She was an addict turned undercover operative who is also a hacker that accidentally got her twin kidnapped and now works for Stonewood Enterprises doing tech support? Again, all these plots were vaguely discussed making it a rather confusing read.
Overall, this was not my cup of tea but clearly everyone else seemed to enjoy it quite a lot. So I guess if you want an enemies to lovers, one bed, mob/hacker book with a lot of poorly executed spice and zero coherency and plot…this book is for you!
I’m gonna be honest, this book made absolutely no sense throughout it’s entirety. The female lead has no real depth, has a tattoo of “addict” on her side to remind herself she is one, then spends the entire book saying she wished people would see her as more than an addict. She lets people treat her like shit but seems to be convinced she would never let anyone treat her poorly?
The male lead is described as a “billionaire tech mogul, mobster, hacker, head of security for the US, Pentagon, and Stonewood Enterprises”. They never really describe what stonewood is besides a powerful business, and they go into no detail about all his other tropes. It’s like repeating his titles is enough to make you forget that they have no detail or real plot.
Overall, if you’re just reading it for the enemies to lovers vibe and the spice and don’t mind that there is really no plot, the writing isn’t great and there is no context or depth to the characters, then this is your book.
UPDATE:
*TIKTOK* is trolling me with this book I swear. It gives quick quotes/teasers and I get excited for a new book, only to realize it’s this book again. I desperately wanted to like it, but it’s best left to tiktok clips.
Thank you Valentine PR for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review!
This was an outstanding read. The plot was definitely unique and interesting. The enemies to lovers trope was really represented so well. Their bickering at the beginning was what I needed.
I found Cade attractive from the very beginning. I loved his bossiness nature. He became one of my favorite character.
Izzy was wild and exactly like him. Her insecurities are written so well. I liked her friendship with Lucas. Her family was so amazing. Her brothers were so protective. Also I loved her bond with her sister and brother in law.
I think I highlighted scenes from each chapter! Their romance was everything I needed to be. I loved how possessive and protective he was. They both were perfect for each other. And I fucking loved the epilogue!!
“Ms. Hardy.” He tsked while he brought his fingers to his mouth, sucking them clean. “You can say you hate me all you want but your lies taste so damn sweet.”
Hawt 🥵
“You’re my mess. The one I want. Every fucking part of you, Izzy. Now, listen to your boss and say yes.”
unputdownable and addicting corrupted chaos crashes into you with its burning heat and hypnotic storyline. It Pulls you in from the first pages.
The heat that emanates, from the pages of this book is truly amazing and will make you fall head over heels for Cade and Izzy they had this palpable pull and electric chemistry I couldn’t get enough.
Shain continues to raise the bar with every work she publishes. She's on a level all her own her writing is pretty much like oxygen to my brain, she has crafted yet another hit, a masterfully written story.
Ok, what the fuck did I just read? And why is this books so well noted. If I had just a little money, I would send this whole reviews section to therapy after reading this book.
EVERYTHING IS WRONG WITH THIS BOOK. It’s well beyond toxic relationships. Izzy is supposed to be “strong” and “angry” and a “mess”. But really, what did she do beside “holding Cade’s gaze” and spread her legs 2s after saying she’ll fight him?
AND CADE? Yes, let’s bring all the stereotypes of a mafia boss. Greek God, tattooed, big pierced dick (mostly just being a dick himself), billionaire. Is he a mafia boss of the head of cybersecurity of the government? Is he a genius or just someone who “hack” to people’s bank accounts? Does he even know what consentement is? Izzy definitely don’t.
Stuff begun happening in the second chapter. WITH NO CONTEXT. I don’t even know how they fell in love. Cade must’ve choked Izzy so bad, her brain wasn’t oxygenated anymore because clearly, she wasn’t thinking. And what’s with the choking anyway?
Besides the awful characters and basically zero depth or research, the was this book was written made want to claw my eyes out of my face and throw them in acids.
If you still didn’t get it, I hated this book and I DO NOT recommend. This book should’ve never existed.
HOLY H*^*!!!!!! What just happened???? This is my first read by this author and you can absolutely bet it won't be my last! Izzy and Cade are the very definition of enemy to lovers. This book is so freakin hot the pages should steam when you open the book. These two have such an incredible, intense push and pull and the chemistry between them is nothing short of explosive. I couldn't have put this book down even if I wanted to. The storyline drags you in and holds you hostage and doesn't let you go even long after you're done reading it. Unbelievably, fantastic story and the characters are completely unforgettable. Izzy "I was the f*^**^* fireball you threw in when you wanted hell, not the angel who’d bring you heaven." Cade “Time to feel the licks of fire and see if you ever want to come back to earth.”
Grab some tissues for your tears and an ice pack for your coochie cause this one is a wild ride!
If you have never read Shain's books before please note that while this can be read as a stand-alone, it will be much more emotionally gratifying if you read at least Shattered Vows & Fractured Freedom first. If you are really willing to take the plunge into the lives of the Armanelli family start with my all time favorite mafia duet Heart of a Monster & Love of a Queen.
Words I would use to describe Cade & Izzy's "situationship" would be: Consuming, Primal, Chaotic, Electrifying, Sexually Explosive, and Genuine.
If you already read the previous books, then you would know going in that Cade is a cyber genius who worked with Izzy for the government while she was undercover.
Izzy is the twin sister of Lilah who is the FMC in Fractured Freedom. She is a recovering addict who carries a lot of guilt and a need to constantly prove herself to her loved ones and work colleagues. She lives in constant fear of relapse.
This story is very Izzy focused but that was okay. Out of all the Armenlli's, Cade probably has the least amount of baggage and the most amount of self-awareness. His role in this story is navigating his feelings for Izzy, while supporting her through her own struggles.
As I mentioned before these two have a situationship. This is a very spicy book that pops off in the second chapter and never stops. There is - IMPACT PLAY, BREATH PLAY, KNIFE PLAY, MASKS, PUBLIC SPICE, & PIRECED GENATALIA. There may be more, it was intense and there was a lot of spice.
I loved everything about this story. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
Not for me. I kept cringing and rolling my eyers at the FMC inner thoughts. She made absolutely no sense to me. We are two chapters in, the characters have known each other for years but we have barely seen any interaction between them, and yet our FMC goes from "I hate him, he ruined my life" to "he is so hot my brain is going on holiday" to "I'm not letting him treat me like this, I am fiery and explosive even if I have kept this aspect of me hidden for the last year" to "Oh my god, he sees everything. How does he know I am not showing my inner fiery-self?" and then back to "Oh he is too hot, he makes my legs weak". I am exaggerating, but that's what it felt like to me.
- FIRST - Dear authors, there's ONE thing I can say about the meaning of POSSESSIVENESS is that If you are possessive about something that you think you own, you do not like lending it to other people orsharing it with other people.
So you trying to tell me Cane who is painted as this dark, egotistical, possessive if not narcistic character is Ooookay with sharing Izzy's "golden" pussy with another hot piece of a dude and then BFF him by the end of the encounter...
*sarcastic laugh*
- SECOND - God Damn Izzy's, fucking beggedCane to let Hot dude to fuck her , WTF !! Let's set somethings straight here, IF our dear Cane even suggested sleeping with someone else . NO NO if he even thought about it, she would've FLIPPED on him like a crazy psycho and tore him to pieces..
So to her to be excited about that was SELFISH and DISGUSTING.
- THIRD - Knife and blood play is really not my thing, I mean I can appreciate a well written scene, but man if I ever get nicked by something sharp, Im complaining about it for days too come Yet these character's nicks and bruises seems to vanish in a night and I just can't with this, if you're going to commit to these scenes then at LEAST give them a reasonable recovery time/ after care. Plus having intercourse while bloodied with some unfortunate stranger is just calling for a bad case of STDs and infections.
OMG! HOT HOT HOT! Love Cade and Izzy ! Could not put this down! Hooked from the beginning...I love the back and forth between these two and love Izzy's attitude. Wish I could give it 10 🌟 🤩
Corrupted Chaos was absolutely everything I love in my romance stories. Dangerous Alpha Male? Check! Sassy Heroine? Check! Combustible chemistry? Check! Add to it that the hero is from a Mafia family and is a hacker and her BOSS - UMMM you have five star gold in this story!! I loved everything about Cade and Izzy! They were such a perfect match it isn't even funny. He would destroy the whole world for her!! I dieee! Read this!! 5 stars! ~Ratula
“Watch how we work, Izzy. You see us together here, holding this. It’s me making you feel everything, protecting you from the other side of destruction, and you holding my life in your hands. Me and you. We work.”
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5/5 Spice level: 🌶🌶🌶/5
♡ Thoughts
Disclaimer: I was provided an ARC in exchange of an honest review
Intense, mind-blowing and emotional. Corrupted Chaos will dominates your soul and leaves you wanting more. Shain Rose has completely captured both my heart and mind with her marvellous words. I was so engulfed in this story line.
I loved Dante and Delilah in the previous book and I absolutely adore Cade and Izzy with all my heart. Cade had easily replaced everyone in my book boyfriend list with his dirty talking. They didn't start their relationship on the right foot but the tension and chemistry between them was pure perfection I could feel it in my bones.
Izzy Hardy has come a long way after dealing with her drug addiction past couple years before. She's left heartbroken and devastated due to past events in her and she also carries dark secrets in her heart which are yet to be exposed. I found Izzy's character quite relatable by how different she from her twin sister. Her attitude intimidates me alot and I love the way how the Author has portrayed her character. She was strong, sassy and absolute badass of a woman.
Cade Armanelli, he's the younger brother of Sebastian Armanelli (from shattered vows!). Who is a very dangerous mobster. He's powerful, stotic and intimating man who dosen't take shit from anyone. I am seriously in love with his character development. The way he went from hating her to wanting to kill her will forever own my soul. Also he grovels too which I didn't expect from him.
I love the dynamics of their relationship. I was so glad this was an enemies to lovers romance cause we get to see their relationship building. Obviously no relationship is perfect but I am glad they made their works. I was surprised by the amount of spice in this book. Compared to this last book this one's gotta be spicest one so far. Each scene was an absolute perfection.
Shain Rose has done an immaculate job with this book. The writing was captivating, the author has really her way with words. The characters were well written and presented, I deeply cared for them. I can't wait to read more of her books in the future.

I absolutely devoured this book. It was amazing, I just couldn’t put it down. The story was so addictive and the second I finished it I just wanted to pick it up and start it all over again!
Forget book boyfriend, Cade Armanelli is my book husband. That man is sexy as hell and I will not be forgetting him any time soon. I loved his whole mafia man mixed with businessman vibe. There wasn’t one scene with him in that I wasn’t swooning.
The FMC Izzy was one of the strongest characters I’ve read about. She had such a long hard journey in life but she came out so strong and determined to always better herself. I really admired her.
Cade & Izzy together was electric - their chemistry was undeniable! The spicy scenes had me absolutely sweating, they did not disappoint in that department!
Shain Rose did an amazing job with this book. It was written so beautifully and with such an ease that I didn’t even realise that I’d read most of the book in one sitting. It was packed full of tension, spice, emotion, humour, love and passion. I’m so glad I read it!
DNF 60% I stopped when the ‘group activities’ began. Just not my thing, but the rating is for weak writing that felt like fan fiction. Out of this series that keeps popping up on TikTok EVERYWHERE, this was the only one that sounded even relatively interesting, and it just was so poorly written. I will not be coming back to this author.
