My Alien Invader, Fi'r

Rate this book
Humans finally know they're not alone in the Universe. The confirmation comes in the form of a ship landing on Ellis Island in the middle of a live national broadcast.

They're invaders, but they come in peace. They want to know us, help us. They offer an exchange--their advancements in health and science, the eradication of our worst diseases, the neutralization of our weapons of war.

The going rate for peace on Earth? An invitation. For those who are interested, a chance to live off world in their society, to understand the greater Universe, to be space explorers.

Niwa signs up, ready to see the stars and the planets among them. When she and the other volunteers board the ship, everything seems gravy, until she realizes something strange.

They're all women, and all of their hosts are male.

This isn't what scares her though. It's the look of the alien commanding the ship, a the fact that it makes her want to run toward him and not away.

Nikki Clarke is a poet and writer who’s always loved a good love story in books and on film. Her favorite on screen love declarations in no particular order are: Darius and Nina under the viaduct, Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth in the field (Knightley and MacFadden version), and Dwayne and Whitley at the wedding. Nikki doesn’t mind a little weird (or raunch) mixed in with her romance and hopes to contribute to more happily ever afters of all shades and styles.

Another great exploration from Ms. Clarke

I loved it and the way she intertwined Nial’s story left me wanting for more. Niwa and Fi’r was hot and steamy. I would have loved to read more of them off the ship but I was enthralled until the end. Can’t wait for Nial’s conclusion. My girl Fola got it going on!

Please continue this series

Well thought out story line. Well thought out characters. Simulating sex scenes. So many possible off shoots that I will try to patiently wait to materialize. I loved reading every page.

Wonderfully written

Fi’r and Niwa had an amazing story. Humans volunteering to go to space thinking it wasn’t real. Aliens coming to actually get the humans and taking them to a whole new world. That part was so real to me! The fact that no one thought this was real and all of the different reactions to being in space! I loved it all! Niwa’s character was so well written. Eager to try something new and as real as you can get even when she was dealing with aliens. Fi’r putting so much stock in his duty and denying himself the things he wanted because he thought they would be a distraction was so human like. This book was well thought out and beautifully written. You may shed some tears near the end so be ready.

Another wild ride

Nikki Clarke has given readers another eventful chapter in the humans’ introduction to the greater universe. She is very good at writing black characters I can relate to and that feel like people in my own family. They don’t feel cartoonish, as I’ve seen in other books.

I like how Clarke addressed loving a family member but hating his actions. On the lighter side, it was fun to have a hero and heroine who can’t keep their hands off each other and it wasn’t a fated-mates situation. If you want black alien romance, this should scratch that itch.

Book 2 - Black Girls Off World.

I enjoy how Nikki Clarke takes minor characters in previous books and makes them main characters in their own story. The way she continues to universe build, is amazing. With this series, she has introduced Threshdans to the universe, but also links them to the Lyqa, Somii and Quitoni. And of course the fact that she centers black women as the female leads is perfect. I will always be a Nikki Clark fan. I look forward to reading more in this series, as well as just more books by Ms. Clark.

I love it here

Niwa Porter signs up for the adventure of her life thinking it’s a joke. But now she has a ship full of women to lead, and an alien boo who is both forward and reticent. But this is just the beginning for Niwa and Fi’r.

I really love what Nikki Clarke is doing for this niche genre, and I enjoyed this one like I enjoyed the others. I really loved how it opened up the door for more stories.

If you like Interspecies romance, good friendships, and possible redemption stories, this one is for you.

I have to know what happens next

This book and series is a good blend of great story and spice. I love it. It makes me feel like I could be the main character. The main character is 37 and not 21 like most heroines in books. I enjoyed this book and will be looking for more from this author.

This was a fun read I enjoyed getting to learn a little more about the Threshers and I can’t wait to learn more in future books. I enjoyed Niwa and Fi’r together but towards the end he was getting on my nerves a little lol. Also that second epilogue at the end of the book I can’t wait to read the novella for it when it comes out.

I loved Fi’r and Niwas story. Fi’r was starting to get me mad the way he was playing games with Niwa. She held her own though and I loved that. I loved that Niwas was older. This reminds me that life is what you make it and no matter your age you always deserve love and respect. And no matter your age you can have fun and live life .

Fi’r was really pissing me off but I really enjoyed this book lmaoooo. The miscommunication in the last 30% really had me ready to throw my kindle. But I loved Niwa! I love that she was the mother figure for all of the women on the ship and she was holding Fi’r accountable when he was on bullshit ( which was quite often 😭) I love how we got a sneak peak at Nial’s redemption arc. Nikki is one of my top favorite authors for speculative romance.

Another Good Read

This second book in the series is one that had me losing track of time. I’ve enjoyed reading both books.
