I purchased this book on a whim, somewhat with the assumption that it was just another method that would inevitably fail to help me learn the fretboard. But the price was right and I figured I’d give it a chance.
I’m very happy to report how wrong I was in that assumption. I followed Charlie’s method from the beginning, read and did all the exercises from each chapter, and after 10-weeks (Well, 12-weeks for me) I now know all the notes on the fretboard, the Pentatonic scale, the blues scale, the diatonic scale and all the modes. My solos are still pretty “vanilla” but they are all in the key, more coherent and not mistakenly dissonant.
If you are a visual learner, this is the method for you. First you learn the basic patterns that become scales, that become licks, that become solos. The bit of basic theory is presented in an easy to understand manner and gives you enough to supplement the patterns, orient yourself, and know where your tonal center is.
At the time of this review, the purchase of the book came with an online 10-week Master the Fretboard Workshop video series that complements the book, includes PDFs of information and numerous jam tracks. Charlie has put a lot of work into an information packed, well produced, easy to follow Workshop. Follow the book along with the videos, in order, from beginning to end. Even if some of it is review. Trust me. It’s worth it!
It may seem like a lot of information in a short span of time but as many others who have taken it took over 10-weeks (including myself), you have the time to slow down and/or review the chapters and videos. In fact, at the end Charlie recommends reviewing everything again from the fourth chapter onward.
I highly recommend this book and the accompanying video workshop, along with joining the incredibly supportive online community. It has opened up a whole world of guitar playing I had only once hoped for. I even subscribed to become a VIP member now that I’ve completed the book and workshop. That opens up a whole method and 20+ courses from which to choose. I look forward to taking what I’ve learned in this course and moving forward with my playing, jamming and songwriting.

Excellent, one of the best resources I've seen!
Step by step you will increase your understanding of scale patterns, scales, blues notes, scale formulas, chord tones, modes and more. This is an excellent system for someone who really wants to play more musically and understand how to incorporate their entire fretboard into making music. Highly recommended!

great content but redo the kindle version.
The kindle version is a low resolution version of a PDF. Disappointing in that the content deserves a full e-pub. Practically unreadable on a iPad,

Really good…I promise!

Fantastic learning tool, you can't fail to learn the fretboard, & improv, with this method
This system has opened up a whole new world of guitar playing for me! .The way Charlie teaches it is straight to the point & as you go through the week's you just pick up the patterns, without overturning theory, by following Charlie's guidance. The support from his gmm fb page is fantastic too! Can't recommend enough..thanks Charlie & gmm team
