Hope and Cage have been working together for a few years. Not knowing the year crushing on each other. The thing is, Cage knew that Hope, is married, stopping anything he could ever, hope for.
Yet, no one knew her deep dark secret, that Robert her boyfriend, not her husband, controls her every move. He has taken a hand to her a few times. Deciding to put an exit plan into action. She is just waiting for the right time.
Arriving home late sends him into a rage unlike before. He started beating her so badly she passed out. This sets a major wheel in motion, See how Cage becomes even a bigger part of her life. The issues they need to overcome. Very cool story and series.
There are triggers, dealing with her, ex-Robert. Not only physical, mental, and verbal. There is stalking, his alcohol abuse, and his actions during this time, which includes firearms. If any of these, at all bother you, please be aware. Most of them are talked about in general, not in extensive detail. I believe most should fair well, but I wanted to be sure you knew.

Wow! So I received an arc and yet again I am blown away by one of her books. It has so major triggers in it. So if domestic abuse will trigger you be aware. I love how she truly builds a world that is so detailed. I just love her plots.

Cage is career military who was medically discharged after being nearly blown up by a bomb when he was deployed in Iraq. He had a lot of demons and he was still trying to deal with as well as being in consistent pain.
Hope is a counselor who helped veterans adjust to civilian life after military. They both work for Jason at the security agency. Hope had a boyfriend, who is also ex military, who was abusive to her especially when he was drunk which was often. No one knew about her being abused. Cage had always like Hope but wouldn’t be the reason why her relationship ended.
Jason came to Cage one morning asking him if he would go to the hospital and be with Hope as he was pushed out of a car at the entrance of the ER. The doctor there, who was a friend of Jason, called him after learning where she work letting him know it looks like she was a victim of domestic violence. He also found out she was pregnant. Cage was beside himself and got to the hospital as fast as he could. When Hope woke up she was in shock that Cage was there and at the same time she was also embarrassed that he knew her truth. Cage stayed with her the entire time she was there and insisted that she stay with him until things settled down. Will they be able to help each other heal or will their past be too much for them?
I really enjoyed this and the entire Hero’s of Calvano Security series. This book bring to light DV and how the victim feels and how they think other people see them. My only wish was I want to know what really happen to Robert. I know he is a big 🍆, but I want to see him suffer besides jail. I’m officially hooked on anything that Nikki Rome writes.

I was unsure of this book due to the sensitive nature of part of the plot. The heroine is in a domestic abuse situation but trying to escape. I took a chance and was happy I did. Ms. Rome handles this topic with grace and compassion while showing the difficulty women experience in trying to escape this type of situation. Hope is a strong woman who found herself in a bad situation. She is falling for her co-worker Cage but does not let him know of her situation until she is in the hospital. I love his strength when he finds out. He immediately steps up as he has been falling for her as well. I love the realistic way he tries to deal with the issues. And I love that Cage is strong enough to accept another man's child as his.
I highly recommend this book - the characters are interesting and the plot moves along quickly.

Scarred Hearts Heal
Both of the main characters survive trauma before and after meeting each other. I enjoyed watching their friendship turn into something more. This is a super sweet story of second chances.

Great books
Great series Heroes of Calvano Security. I love all 6 books in this series. I loved the fact that all 6 books were easy to get into even when I was reading a different book. I could jump right back into it. Great read!!!
