همونطور كه از عنوان كتاب معلومه،محوريت صحبت اين كتاب درباره افسردگيست. موضوعاتى كه در اين كتاب پرداخته شده:تعريف افسردگى،طبقه بندى كردن انواع افسردگى و شرح دادن جزء به جزء حالات مختص به هرحالت،نشانه هاى افسردگى،علل افسردگى،ديدگاه هاى يك فرد دچار به اختلال افسردگى ،ديدگاه اشخاص نزديك به فرد مبتلا به افسردگى،روش درمان و معرفى داروها و همچنين بررسى كردن تحقيقات آمارى مربوط به افسردگيست و در آخر پاسخ دهى به چند سوال رايج درباره اين اختلال!
در كل كتاب خوب و جامعى هستش كه به زبان ساده موضوع رو شرح داده!(به همين دليل ميتونه براى هر خانواده اى مفيد و اثر بخش باشه)
اما براى من و ديگر افرادى كه با مطالعات اكادميك درباره افسردگى دست و پنجه نرم كردند،اين كتاب دانش جديدى بهشون اضافه نميكنه و نكته اى كه خيلى برام كسالت آور بود ارائه دادن آمار و شرح حال هايى از كتاب DSM بود كه مربوط به خيلى سال پيش ميشد كه طبعا براى الان برخى از اين روش ها و علل ها و علائم فرق كرده!
This book had a basic depiction of depression nothing new or ground breaking. Unfortunately, it has not aged well it was going off of the DSM III I did not find it useful and many of the things they counted as depression has be categorized as something else now.
