Psychic Reg Rawlins is hoping to get her life back to normal, or some semblance of it. With the gems she was given by the fairies for saving Calliopia’s life, she doesn’t need to worry about money. Maybe never again. She can just relax, get the sleep she needs, and not have to worry about hustling a living.
Life is better with money. Maybe she’ll even take up a hobby. Travel. Visit Erin.
But the rest of the world seems to have other ideas. Reg senses that all is not well in Black Sands. She is plagued by nightmares and visions, but her ability to consciously access her powers is limited and she is going to need them to save her friends.
***** For me, curling up with a Reg Rawlins cozy mystery is always an enjoyable and welcome way to spend an evening. I look forward to the next installment in this series.
***** Absolutely fabulous as always. You are completely drawn in and wish the book never ends. Definitely ready for more.

When bad luck follows you around, Reg Rawlins may just be the person to help you sort it all out.
One of the most interesting things about a P.D. Workman book is the twist of plot that her books take. I've quickly learnt not to take things at face value in her stories. With some authors, this could lead to a chaotic manuscript, but this is not the case here.
As time has progressed, Reg's character has grown. She's less grifter, more a part of the community. Her relationships have deepened and it feels as though she's taken root, at least, in a place where people accept her for who she is. I really enjoyed reading this maturing and it felt natural.
A Whisker's Breadth was a pleasurable read. I look forward to the next in the series.
Another winner from P. D. Workman. Reg Rawlins psychic powers continue to grow as Reg takes on an accident prone client and Reg becomes more cognizant of her surroundings.
Another wonderful story in the Reg Rawlins series!!! Could not put it down and was over before I was ready for it to be. Aww Shucks!!
Are we going to find the truth regarding Starlight? What all can Reg really do? And remember be careful what you wish for!!!
If you have read the previous books, then you are familiar with what saying no means!! One character was in trouble for not respecting that. In this story, that concept seems to me to be repeated. However, the character not hearing the no, was affected previously. The person saying no here was able to figure out how to get out of the situation. Besides, the concept of saying no and what it means, there is the concept of accepting who you are, your nature and respecting it. It has me really thinking about that!!!! This author is infamous for making you think!!!! I love the subtle way it is inputted into the stories
Needing to catch up on the two books before this one, I can say that it can be read as a standalone. Granted that I have read this series from the beginning and am familiar with the characters. Therefore I strongly recommend that you go back and read them.. I guarantee that you will love them, and be waiting forbtge next one.
If still waiting, then go and read Workman's other books also!!!
This is my honest and freely given review. I did receive an ARC book.
This is only the second book in the Reg Rawlins, Psychic Investigator series that I've read but I will be back to read books I've missed and additional books in the series since this is the ninth book. It was fast paced and drew me in from the beginning. Some playfulness as well as incidents or accidents that have no reason to happen unless there's a curse. We meet up with characters we've met before and are introduced to a new one, Vivian, who has bad things happen to her over and over again. I liked how Reg's cat, Starlight, played an important role in this book as well.
There are psychic powers at work as well as warlocks, fairies and pixies. This is a cozy paranormal mystery that had a lot of twists and turns. It's not usually a genre that I'm a fan of but since finding Ms. Workman's books I've been a fan. There was some closure but definitely more stories to tell. I liked the cover.
I enjoyed the peek at the first book in the Auntie Clem's Bakery series, Gluten-Free Murder, since it gave me a sense of how the series started since I've only read books 10, 11 and 12 in the series so far. I will be back to read more of this series, too!

A Whisker's Breadth is a good addition to the Reg Rawlins series even though I have to admit that it isn't my favorite. I'm not sure exactly what my problem was unless it was the scene at the beach between Reg and Corvin. It was so out of character for Reg and I'm not sure how I feel about her being the aggressor when Corvin has been the one always taking advantage and putting Reg at risk. The main storyline was good and I enjoyed my visit to Black Sands, Fl, as always. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. If you haven't checked them out you need to. It is a great cozy mystery series.
Reg’s new client has an astounding streak of bad luck. Of course, in this town it’s a bound to be a bit more complicated. As expected, this book is brilliantly constructed and fast paced. The characters are well developed and believable. I’m eagerly awaiting her next book. I received this book free and chose to make a voluntary, unbiased review.
Well, not in the least expected. The author keeps throwing in new twists and tidbits expanding the storyline quite subtly. Great characters, especially Reg and Starlight. Reg trying to uncover her gifts, and Starlight ? Well, now he really is a mystery to be solved. Recommend the book to all who like a bit of magic in their lives.
Vivian went to Reg’s business. She believed that she had a curse or something that caused her to have very bad luck. She had several close encounters with death and survived each. Follow the story until Vivian gets what she wished for—-remember be careful what you wish for because it may not be what you really want.
Always an interesting time hanging out with Reg, Corvin and the rest of the fun characters in this series. There are never any boring moments when any of them are around. Such a fun series with witches, warlocks and other mystical characters. Loved it!
I like that we learned more about Reg's powers in this book, and more about Starlight the cat. Reg has a very interesting, skittish, and troublesome client.
A Whisker's Breadth (Reg Rawlins, Psychic Investigator #9), my twenty-fourth read from author P.D. Workman. Another well-written & enjoyable psychic-mystery continuing the ongoing adventures of Reg Rawlins. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
This is a good story but the copy I have on my Kindle is missing pages. There were several blank pages right in the copy with the next page starting in the middle of a sentence.
In this latest addition to the Reg Rawlins series, our favorite psychic investigator is challenged with determining the cause of a bad luck streak plaguing Vivian, a new resident in the Black Sands community. Vivian has experienced a string of “accidents” which defy all odds of expected occurrence and it seems that no end to this spate of calamity is in sight. She consults Reg for a psychic reading to determine if Reg can offer any assistance in ending this cavalcade of catastrophe. Is Vivian the unluckiest woman in history or is she actually miraculously lucky in that she has survived so much misfortune unscathed? As with all the books in this delightful series, the mystery deepens as each new event unfolds and each new clue is examined. Recurring characters continue their stories and new insights are provided about Starlight, Reg’s feline companion, and Harrison, her doggedly inscrutable “god-father”. For me, curling up with a Reg Rawlins cozy mystery is always an enjoyable and welcome way to spend an evening. I look forward to the next installment in this series.
I was provided with an advance copy of this book by the author and I am voluntarily offering my honest and unbiased review.
