Hitting the road with the only man who gives me butterflies while simultaneously making me want to punch him could be the biggest mistake of my life, or it could be the best thing I ever do.
Three years ago, George Gregory kissed me. It was the sort of kiss that felt like the start of something really great.
He spent the next twenty minutes telling me how much he loved his ex, and then he called me Mary.
My name is May.
Since that fateful evening, I’ve made it a point to never, ever, ever call him by the right name. I also mock him every chance I get. I love the way his cheeks turn red and he tilts his head to the side like he doesn’t understand why I’m so mean.
He's not the only one confused, because in all other aspects of my life, I’m… well….
Pushover has such a negative connotation. I prefer to think of myself as dependable. Count on me to always say yes.
Need a sitter for Sunday night? I’ll be there.
Need someone to man the phones at my mother’s Inn? I’m on it.
Need an extra hand at my brother’s winery? There’s nothing I’d rather do more.
Just when I run out of places to hide from the people begging me to say yes, George Gregory shows up in an RV like a knight on a steed and offers to take me away from it all.
Will the fact that George is in love with his ex and that my fiancé hasn't accepted we're over be enough to make me ignore the sparks igniting between us?
Katharine Sadler lives with her husband in North Carolina. She’s been writing since she was ten and has wanted to be a writer even longer. When she’s not writing or otherwise gainfully occupied, she reads like it’s an addiction, exercises, skis whenever she gets the chance, and adds more books to her Amazon wish list.
I enjoyed the way this young woman figured out what she wanted from life. Being a kind daughter, sister, and friend, she always ran to help anyone who asked, and got engaged because it seemed to be what was expected of her. Then she was fired. After pulling a sultry siren scene, to entice her staid fiancé, he was mortified by her antics. She realised that they were completely wrong for each other. Through trial and error she eventually works out her future. And what a future!
This is the fifth book in this fascinating series and this is George and May's story. This is a well written story which has family, friendships, humour, witty banter, challenges, secrets, emotions, romance, and love which all leads to an entertaining and spicy addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
May and George are two people finding their way in the world, and Sadler gave these two characters rich back story and development. I could identify with May—not being able to say no, not settling down with one profession, too much family influence. And when she finds George, holy cow—fireworks! At first, she can't see him, she's too busy avoiding her ex fiance and family. And then George shows up in his RV. I mean, who doesn't have a dream about travelling in an RV with a hottie, going where you want, doing what you want. And George and May find a way to get really close in that small camper. :) I won't give away the rest because you must read this book, except to say that there were a couple laugh out loud moments as well. I've enjoyed the entire Catalpa Creek series and have also read other books from Katharine Sadler. She's an author you should definitely follow for quality contemporary romance.
I was enjoying it until the George made the stupid decision to lie to the May ‘for her own good.’ Yes I could understand why he did it, but up to that point the best part was how he unconditionally believed in her and supported her whereas her family were kind of taking her for granted and her mother was full on undermining her ‘for her own good’. So that kind of took the shine off all their otherwise lovely interactions for me.
I love the idea of traveling in an RV and visiting places of famous authors. That sounds so awesome! And George's idea for his book (him writing poetry about the authors' homes and such like and including pictures taken by May). I'd buy such a book...and read it. It's been difficult waiting for George and May's story! Three years they crushed on one another but allowed a misunderstanding to keep them apart. And Whit!! I love her so much!!!
I really enjoyed this romantic boom with it's endearing characters and familiares. Adventures un , visita yo historial tomes and East yo tras style of writing.
I really enjoyed May's story. She struggled to say no and wanted to please every one. George helped her find herself again. May is one of my favourite characters in the series. Looking forward to finding out all about Jenna.
I swung the door open, ready to give somebody hell, and came face to face with May. Her brown hair was mussed like she'd just gotten out of bed and she was wearing leggings and a t-shirt that could pass as pajamas. She had two camera bags over one shoulder and a duffel by her sneaker-clad feet. She grinned up at me, her eyes taking a lazy trip over my abs on the way to my face. "Hey, George-a-rovski." Her voice was thick and slow. "Can I still go with you on your trip?" "Are you drunk?" I crossed my arms over my chest and leaned against the door frame. I'd never seen May drunk before. She was adorable. She leaned in. "Georgie George a lot. Gee-orgy. Georgie Porgie." She poked my chest with each ridiculous iteration of my name. "I sober up quick, I promise. We stopped drinking like an hour ago, so I'm halfway to sober already. Can I go?" There was no way in hell I was going to say no to her. "Of course."
