About the author

Emy Calirel grew up in France, but also spent some time in Africa as a child. When she finally reached adulthood, she jumped on opportunities and moved to California, then Ireland, before coming back to her roots. San Francisco still holds her heart, though, and always will.

After trying a couple different jobs, she settled down and now works in a funeral home/monumental masonry, which she loves. To handle life’s daily stress, she laughs with her coworkers a lot and spends any free time she gets reading or daydreaming about queer folks finding their happily ever after.

She’s a cat owner, a plant killer, and a San Francisco Giants fan. Wanderlust flows in her veins, and her goal is to visit every capital in Europe—if she can ever stop herself from going back to London over and over again.

Emy’s muse is a sassy being who expertly farms plot bunnies in Emy’s overgrown imagination. As a consequence, Emy has more stories and characters living in her head than she’ll ever be able to write in her lifetime. She’s fine with it, though, as, like a child, she loves playing in her sandbox.

A documentary enthusiast and curious to a fault, Emy often loses herself in research and will happily share her discoveries with everyone. Did you know most mammals empty their bladders in twenty-one seconds?

Like wow...

This was an impulse click, as I read the blurb and thought I would love to read a mmm with zombies and I'm glad that I did.

Being so short, of course you are going to have instalove. I was down with that. The really different way of having the world end was great, but now I'm gonna have to add lots of antibiotics to my zombie apocalypse kit.

In this we have Evan, Henry, and Jay. They all share a tree house in the woods to keep safe from the blue zombies and other survivors. Henry was a ranger? I think, Jay was a baker, and Evan was a Dr in the before times.

This is single pov and its all Evan's thoughts. I would have loved to have been in all three's heads but of course this was too short for that.

I would love an extended prequel, detailing what happened prior to the time Even is found.

I was just trying to find a book for a reading challenge, and didn’t expect to find a really well written, apocalyptic book set in a treehouse. If I had one complaint about the book, it would be that I wish a bit more time had elapsed, that it was a bit more of a slowburn… but it’s the end of the world, so time she is a wasting, I suppose…

This is without a doubt the sweetest zombie apocalypse romance I’ve ever read (not a sentence I ever thought I’d type). It’s hard to overstate, however, exactly how satisfyingly heartwarming this novella is. When Evan, cold, alone, and desperately in need of shelter and safety, finds refuge in the tree house hideaway of established couple Henry and Jay, at first he’s just grateful, and relieved to be alive. But in the whirlwind of outrunning murderous creatures, scavenging enough food and staples to keep going, and trying to build a new normal (all beautifully depicted by the author, in ways that make an on-its-face-implausible storyline feel very real) Evan falls for Henry and Jay, and they fall for him. I really love the three of them together, and want the best for them, so I’m excited to see their storyline continue.

This is a short and sweet apocalypse romance with three men just trying to survive when Henry and Jay , a couple , take Evan in and all find love together. It's a heartwarming story ,is well written with perfectly painted scenes and is a great read.

amazing and too short

This was a quick read that was just what I was looking for. One good thing about novellas is that everything is usually resolved fairly quickly. Can’t wait to read the next book.

“Sitting in a Tree” is a cute novella where an alien virus has swept the world leaving chaos in it’s wake. This novella follows Jay, Henry and Evan getting to know one another throughout the winter while living in a treehouse and staying away from those infected with the virus. I liked the idea of an alien virus turning those infected blue, totally making it easier to see whose infected before they attack, making escaping easier. I enjoyed watching these three get closer, Jay and Henry were already a couple but it was great seeing them welcome Evan into their arms. Overall this one is a cute end of the world read. There is going to be a sequel, “K.I.S.S.I.N.G.”, continuing their journey in this world and I look forward to reading it.

I give this book 3.5 stars.

This is a surprisingly sweet read for a book that is set in the aftermath of an alien bacteria that changes humanity into zombie-like creatures. Told from Ethan’s POV, it follows as he regains his health, as he realizes how he feels about Jay and Henry, and as they all three come together.

There’s a lot to enjoy here: Ethan, Jay, and Henry are distinct, well defined personalities that work together well. The plot beyond their romance is intriguing - people get hurt, foraging goes awry, and it all makes the story even more interesting. I couldn’t put this one down. I usually want a bit more with novellas, with this one I wanted a LOT more. I was impressed by how the author managed so much in so little. A lot of ground is covered for a novella, I was invested enough I wanted a novel.

Oddly satisfying after COVID. 3.5 for me.

I think this might have been a bit better if it were novel length, with more time to explore the characters and their experiences before the bacteria.

I loved it!

I loved reading Sitting In A Tree by Emy Calirel. It was a great short story. I liked that it wasn't a typical zombie book. The infected were blue skinned and chirped to communicate with each other, and they were infected by an alien bacteria that was brought back by astronauts. I thought it was genius that they were surviving in a tree house that Henry and Jay had kitted out as a vacation home, complete with kitchen and wood burning stove. Evan was very lucky that Henry found him in the woods and brought him to the tree house to live with him and Jay. I loved when they all got together and started making plans for the future. I can't wait to read the sequel, K.I.S.S.I.N.G., when it comes out to see if Jay gets his chickens and his cow, and if they move to the farm house and how they fortify it to keep out the infected and the other humans who have survived the alien bacteria infection.

This was sooo good!! A short steamy, romantic novella in an apocalypse! Evan is cold, alone and so tired when he is found and brought to a tree house inhabited by Jay and Henry. He’s grateful to still be alive. As time progresses, he starts to have feelings for Jay and Henry. He learns they also have feelings for him. There is some action and adventure within the story line. I’d love a little more of their story to continue. I’m voluntarily leaving a review form an advanced copy that I received.

I don't usually read MMM stories but the storyline and cover art intrigued me. I always love a good zombie romance story and the author did a nice job writing it. This is a sweet, low-angst zombie romance with three men stuck in a treehouse together as they try to survive the hoard of blue skinned zombies. Henry and Jay are an established couple who rescue Evan and all three men live together with Evan falling in love with both men. It ends in a HFN with a hint of more romance to come in the future.

Cute short read

I love the premise, an alien bacteria that turns humans into zombie like creatures. Evan is found half frozen to death and taken in by Henry and Jay. Evan finds himself wanting both of them but they are a couple and he is odd man out.

I love their gift day and their interactions with each other. It's not all steamy, in fact there is one sex scene between all of them and that's about it. So more story than sex. :p

Zombie Apocalypse MMM romance, yes, that's right.

I never thought I would ever read a zombie book, let alone a romance, but it isn't full of gore. It is full of romance and three hot men.

Seriously what's not to like? A short but fun read.
