Rate this book
Five friends ice fishing in the far northern part of Minnesota’s Upper Peninsula encounter something out of their worst nightmares. A creature from myth and legend. A creature with an insatiable appetite. Sending out a call for help, they can only pray it reaches them in time. Team Odin arrives to find a creature like nothing they have ever faced before. From out of the nightmares of the frozen north comes the Wendigo. The Spirit of Hunger with a lust for human flesh. The fate of the survivors and the entire team rests on finding a way to defeat the cannibalistic beast. Battling the Wendigo will take the team through the frozen forests of Minnesota and across the border into Canada. Death haunts them at every turn, taking Team Odin into the fight of their lives. Beyond science, beyond legend, beyond human understanding, lies the Curse of the Wendigo.

A paramilitary team that fights the supernatural goes after a bunch of flesh eating Wendigos in Northern Michigan.

Not bad, but nothing really stood out for me.

When Daniel Clark's good buddy Doc goes ice fishing in northern Minnesota they are attacked by a cryptic creature called a Wendigo. Clark's team goes after the creature but finds more than one waiting for them. Before its over they wind up across the Canadian border fighting an army of Wendigo.

This was fast paced and interesting read. The Wendigo is one of the scariest cryptids that actually hunts humans for food and used to be human. Being turned into a Wendigo by a scratch from one, this is a no go. Team Odin has their hands full and Clark is once again outnumbered and against the wall. His team of professionals including a few with supernatural powers is what it takes to close the deal.

Great Read

This series is very entertaining. I read it straight through, which is unusual. A great read, worth the time and $$.

Decent action and the supernatural elements were well scripted. I do love a good wendigo story. Enough scary elements to make me look over my shoulder when I had to go out in the dark tonight.

The excessive “mil-speak” and weaponry specs pulled me out of the action frequently. I’m a veteran and it felt like the author has been military adjacent but was never actually immersed in the military culture. I’ve read other supernatural thrillers written by veterans that felt much more natural in their flow. Also several times the characters did stupid things that would never have been done in a real combat situation which was just irritating. I was just a regular joe so if I know something like that is ill advised, a group of super soldiers drawn from all the high speed units across the branches certainly should have. And towards the end every time a character spoke in an action scene they “roared.” It was annoyingly repetitive, especially when in happened three times in about the space of a page.

All in all, it was entertaining. I’ll probably continue to follow the series.

Great supernatural action

I give this a strong 4 star as the caracters description and storyline is good as well as the action scenes, iv read many of Roberts book's and they are among the better in this genre. Caracters cross over from other of his book series which makes a great background for a group of special individuals and military forces fighting supernatural evil. This time their foe is Wendigo creatures, a figure from indian lore iv read a lot about earlier and been facinated about, right up my alley with other words. I have only 1 tip reading these books, start with the begining and first ones

Unbelievable Hunt

This book was an excellent read. I wasn't sure at first if l would enjoy it. Once l started reading l had a difficult time putting it down. This author is amazing. He keeps you totally involved with the story. What will happen next, will they survive, can they possibly find a way out and it just keeps you turning the pages.
Once you start reading you cannot stop. I will definitely continue to look for more by this author. Loved it!!!!.

Incredible blend of Native American myth, a special Forces action, and imagination!!

I love this new series (with it's "asides") by this author! I read " Lakeview Man " first, then "Odin's Call" with this following close behind. I see there's a sequel to Lakeview Man out, so that one is next and I will be keeping my eyes open for the next in this series! I definitely recommend these books!

Just amazing

Many times these types of stories end up dry or drawn out over used not this one between the regular characters and the cryptid ones then add the shifting good guys the super bad black magic the native people that are so in touch with just every thing you can almost believe if you squint on a shady day that things could possibly exist I’m not. A big military reader but being tied into legend and Gideon what about him just have to keep reading so keep writing

Breathlessly Thrilling

Wow, this creature was just too hard to believe! I had heard this creature, named once before in a different series of books I had read so it did catch my attention when I saw it referred to again in this series. Great nail biting action all the way through!!

Best One So Far

What a ride! This was the best of this series I have read so far, however, as soon as I write this I am going to get another one. Fast-paced ride into the world of cryptids and the Wild Hunt Unit that chases them. Interesting tech, great male and female characters, who kick butt. Grab a great read!!!

Wild hunt

I really like this book. The author did not get to wordy in his descriptions. Made this situation scary and action action packed with a touch of humour that I believe real Soldiers would act in facing the enemy.

Great continuation of the DAverse

Really enjoyed this one, especially pulling the Apex Predator characters into the mix. There was one chapter that used the word "grinning" too much, otherwise no complaints!

Just when you thought it was safe to go camping

I thought the Gugwe were bad. These Wendigos make them seem like your average ape. The Team is definitely in over their heads in this one.
