⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 3.5 Stars || A Helpful but Occasionally Repetitive Guide to Excel Mastery
It is a practical and accessible resource for anyone looking to strengthen their Excel skills. The book does a commendable job of breaking down complex formulas and functions into easy, step-by-step explanations—perfect for beginners or intermediate users wanting to polish their knowledge.
The examples provided are clear and relevant, helping readers understand not just how a formula works, but why it’s useful in real-world scenarios. From VLOOKUP and IF statements to more advanced tools like pivot tables, the author ensures that readers gain a solid grounding in Excel’s powerful capabilities.
However, the book does show a few weak spots. Some sections feel overly repetitive, covering basic functions more than necessary. Additionally, the layout and formatting could have been a bit more engaging—visual learners might miss flowcharts or step illustrations that would make the concepts easier to grasp.
Despite these minor shortcomings, the guide serves as a useful companion for office professionals, students or data enthusiasts who want to get comfortable with Excel formulas without feeling overwhelmed.
A solid, straightforward manual—not dazzling, but dependable. It lights the way for beginners/learners who prefer clarity and structure over flashy presentation.
3.5 stars for effort, initial clarity and practical value.
This has some good info on Excel formulas and shortcuts. I knew a lot of these already before reading this book, but I like how it is setup to group the usage and various types of functions like financial, text, and others. I also learned a few new keyboard shortcuts that I didn't know like CTRL + $ to quickly format a number as currency. Makes sense when you see it, but never new that till reading this book.

A very short book on certain functions of Excel. I got it because of its price (free). But even in its brevity it contains useful information of how to use the program. And at the end of the book there are links to other Excel sources that add to its content. Even in its brevity, I found the solution of how to prepare a certain formula I'd been struggling to solve. For that I give it a 4 start rating
Not sure what I was expecting from a free book. This is a brief run through of some of the formulas in Excel. The book suffers from not having many examples and better explanations of the functions are found simply by searching the Internet. I downloaded the free book and there is an error in the first explanation of the Sum function. So this is an average crib sheet and I was left disappointed.
This book does a good job of covering some of the more basic items in Excel. First off, this is a very beginner book. To make the book more than a guide and more a useful tool, the sections that describe the various functions just add some examples. For example MOD and the other numeric built-in functions. A brief description is fine, but showing what the function does would bring more depth to this manual.
I’ve been struggling with the formula I needed to connect the sheets in a workbook. This book made it easy to find the formula I needed. Book explains everything with ease. It is more for a beginner. Great shortcuts given.
