This chapbook by Marissa Davis was the winner of the 5th Toi Derricote and Cornelius Eady Chapbook Prize. The prize was created through a partnership between Cave Canem, The Writer's Room, and O, Miami Poetry Festival. The manuscript was designed and published by Jai-Alai Books. Danez Smith says in the introduction to this collection that Davis is "prepared to swallow flame," and I do agree. Davis writes skilled, experimental, beautiful verses that I'm drawn back to again and again to see what is there for me each time I read it. I could read this chapbook for years and still marvel at the wild expression and what it continues to reveal to me.
