Rusty Blade is your not so typical Low rank adventurer. He's one hundred and fifty years old and only rank D. Since adventures can only die in battle Rusty has lived long enough to see everyone he knew either die or rank up without him. He never gave up and one day it finally pays off when he meets a high level goblin in the forest. The goblin offers him a method to rank up that includes marrying the daughter of the goblin chief. This is a short series that I'm writing while I work on other projects like "Demon Party". You can go ahead and judge this one by its cover. Thanks!
I felt that the story was rushed. There was no real exposition for most of the plot points and the character interaction seemed a little forced or unbelievable.
I needed a quick read inbetween reading so many doctor who books and i've always been a sucker for monster girls and i ran across this novella. Being only 50 pages i figured i'd give it a shot, and to be truthful, i actually had quite a bit of fun with it.
No one's claiming that this is an award winning epic fantasy, but it's not supposed to be that. it's a fun, quick, enjoyable story. For being such a short story though, the author managed to cram a lot of world building and some character development into it, which surprised me.
Because of the brevity of the book, he had to move the plot along really fast with hardly any prose and that's okay with me. I enjoyed it for what it was. Rusty was fine, if not a tad generic, the wizard Howard was a bit annoying but not so much that he was unlikable, and Gwen, which i haven't seen a lot of her yet, seems to be an all right character. I hope in the sequel she gets a bit more fleshed out.
I blew through this in one day and never once did i wish the end would come. Which is rare for me. Granted, there were a few grammar errors here and there, and the paragraph format was a bit rough at times, and sometimes the character could be irritating, but these are merely nitpicks for what was, all in all, part 1 of a fun ride. I hope part 2 is just as good which i will definitely be reading. 4/5.
What happens when an adventurer marries a monster?
The title says it, which pretty much sums up this short story. A swordsman marries a goblin so he can level up. The humor is very decent and the plot is simple. Not much world building, but the characters are entertaining. It reads like a light novel, except it is shorter. One of the problems I had was the grammar, and the dialogue that doesn't mention who is telling who. It confused me on which character is speaking. But I still think for monster girl lovers who want to read simple shorts, they will get a kick out of this one. If you are expecting an epic fantasy with world building that reads longer, this book isn't for you.
I’m not sure what’s worse, that the story really went nowhere or that the plot itself only made sense on the books description.
This book, while short, drags the reader from one really odd moment to the next with no point other than to explain the main characters level issue. Outside of that, no character has any form of life outside of being quirky and awkward. I commend the author for both thinking of an interesting idea and world but I can’t understand how the story was able to both explain way too much of something and nothing at all at the same time.
For the love of all that’s good, don’t bother with this story, it’s clearly not treating your time well so don’t give it any more than it has stolen from me!
Great story so far. A fun read. It could have used a little more character development and maybe be a bit longer like maybe 200 pages at least but over all great short story very enjoyable.
Honestly I really liked the concept. Even Howard in very small doses, nah nope the kid drove me nuts form the beginning. Fun read but too short for my taste, had just enough to make me want more.
It was a really fun read. Just know it is a side story to others he is writing. I'm looking forward to additional installments. Like the old serialized radio programs. Hopefully the next doesn't drop in the middle of a scene.
Short but sweet fantasy. It was perfect as a Kindle Unlimited selection. I can’t wait to find out what form Gwen has taken on after her latest transformation / mutation.
So far it's an interesting story how as short as it is I simply can't give it an accurate judgment until at least volume 3(which should be bundled together into one volume anyways based on the length of this volume)
This is a very unique story and I really like it. It takes the monster girl trope in an interesting direction while having a well written story. Looking forward to more!
Overall it was really good, the characters had defined personalities and growth. And the world building was excellent especially for such a short story.
You did well. I have read a lot of books and this one even how short it is was a good read. Ik I do not like something I trade from one book to another. Not this one. Keep it going man. I want to know what happens to Rusty.
The concept seems off the wall but works far better than you would think it is. Some actual character development but just filled with screwball characters.
