Programming Linux Games discusses important multimedia toolkits (including a very thorough discussion of the Simple DirectMedia Layer) and teaches the basics of Linux game programming. Readers learn about the state of the Linux gaming world, and how to write and distribute Linux games to the Linux gaming community.
This book is a great introduction to the SDL libraries and programming games. The author clearly has a great grasp on what another programmer needs to get into this arcane, but seemingly simple graphics library (SDL = Simple directmedia layer). It also has information about OpenAL and OpenPlay. I am excited to get to those chapters. I interlibrary loaned this book and I may buy it now.
