While reading this i feel like i become parent and teacher for myself. I feel sorry to myself cos prior to reading this I didn’t know much about Gefühle and how is it normal to feel anything. I only learn that I’ll be shamed if i show my true feeling. Yeah, it’s never too late to learn everything from the beginning.

Aivan loistava kirja Fiksut faktat -sarjaan!

This is a simple flap book from Usborne that does a pretty good job introducing feelings to young children and helping initiate discussion. I could nitpick (always, ha), such as pointing out that defining feelings as what we feel isn't that helpful (it says more, but that's how it begins the definition), but I still appreciate it overall, and the kids (ages 3, 6, 9, and even the 11 year-old) seem to as well.

It doesn't offer any faith perspective, which I believe is important to this topic (all topics, really...), but I can give that as I read with them, and some simple concepts fit in easily. For example, there is a flap that mentions talking to someone else about your feelings can help, and it's easy to mention that praying to God about your feelings is also helpful.

This is currently one of Hope's favorite books, and the other younger ones are interested in it too. I think it's well-timed. Hope may or may not like it just because of a picture of a snake and some other pictures she finds amusing, and because she likes to lift the flaps. ;)

A great book for discussing or explaining feelings to children. There are questions which will be good for asking the children what they think before the pull the flap to reveal the answer or advice. The questions are simple, illustrations are fun and colourful and represent each feeling in the book. Would be a good book for Reception or Year 1

Useful, attractive board book. Lots of info which doesn’t necessarily marry well with the typical lift-the-flap format. A demographic mishmash. My First Behaviours Touch & Feelings board books more suited to babies and young toddlers.

This is a great book to read with a toddler. It’s not a narrative, there’s no need to read it from beginning to end or in any particular order. Instead you can flip around, and let the child lead, opening flaps and exploring the different facts and ideas related to feelings. It is a lightly science-based, totally secular book that explores the way that we feel and the different things we can do to express and manage our feelings.

Excellent book identifying various feelings and examples of coping skills for each. The flaps are engaging, but give me slight anxiety. Maybe I should read it again;)
