Factual but readable biography of William Holland Thomas, the first white chief of what became the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Indians. It's a fairly slim book that took me a long time to read, but that's only an indication of busy-ness in my life during the time I took it up. It was very interesting to me, but that may only be because I live right in the area where Thomas did. It was fun to read about people who gave their names to some of the places around here. I was initially interested to read this book because the main character in Charles Frazier's Thirteen Moons was based on Holland's life.
