The Dungeon calls adventurers deep into its labyrinth in search of personal growth, strength, and experience. But the Dungeon is a tough master-one wrong move, one bad choice, and permanent death awaits. Lefiya, Bete, and Filvis arrive at the twenty-fourth-floor pantry looking for Aiz but instead stumble upon Hermes Familia in distress. A deadly foe has the adventurers up against the ropes and struggling to stay alive. They've uncovered the mystery of the carnivorous flower monsters but are losing hope they'll make it back to the surface to warn Orario. Can they escape the Dungeon, or will it finally have the last word?
Of course that is not to say we don't see plenty of action and sadly some tragedy in this volume as the truth of the red haired tamer and everyone's skull masked opponent comes to light. Honestly with how silly this series can be it is times like in this volume where you don't see the light-hearted antics but the emotional intensity as adventurers face a dangerous life and death situation and have to pull deep from within to survive and save each other. It has been a long fight, resources are depleted, and heroes are exhausted as overwhelming odds attempt to snuff them out. Sure Bete is a tough guy, certainly Aiz has become insanely powerful (especially when she finally unleashes her wind magic), but to me it is definitely Lefiya who must fight back her fears as her far stronger team mates are kept busy is the all star in this volume. You'll have to read it yourself and see how powerful she can be for yourself. :)
I'm not sure if this series has gotten any better if I've become accustomed to the mediocrity. It's not a bad series by any means it's the characters lack depth, I know you can't really add much to them being this is a side story and it probably go against the main story, at least give us something to root for.
I am enjoying this series now, I like the whole mutant plant monster. Still haven't gotten to what created it but there is hints within this, I do quite like the bad guys we got in this. Overall there is just a bit more to hold onto, thankfully they've dropped the whole Aiz wanting to get stronger and craving after Bell because he ran away from her. Instead it's become a more action heavy series, with Aiz going it alone and her team dealing with other missions. To me it's made it a lot more interesting, I still don't think it's as good as the other 2 series but at least now I'm actually having fun.
