May 27, 2012Ambivalent. The ideas and observations presented int he first chapter sounded fantastic. And then they didn't hold up. The majority of the examples the author cited to support her theories made me wonder if we were reading the same letters and diaries.

Great insight into the lives of Midwestern women during a pivotal time period. I read it slowly so I could savor it a little longer.
