PI Reed Ferguson and his new wife, Willie, are on honeymoon in Tahiti. They encounter a corpse on the beach. The man had been murdered.
Back home in Denver, a strange guy hires Reed because he thinks his life is being threatened. Reed takes the case, but finds that something’s a bit off about his client, a doctor who claims that one of his partners is committing Medicare fraud and wants to kill him to cover it up.
Road Blocked by Renee Pawlish is another humorous adventure of film noire devotee Reed Ferguson and his oddball assortment of associates going head-to-head and toe-to-toe with the bad guys, and prevailing despite their fumbling and stumbling.
Reed Ferguson doesn’t fit any neat category of fictional detective, and I haven’t yet come up with a good label, so for now, let’s just say that he’s a delight to know.

Reed and Willie wrap up their Tahiti honeymoon by discovering a body on the beach – the body of a guy Reed had been chatting with at a bar a few minutes before.

Back in Denver and back at work, Reed takes a case investigating Medicare fraud and a doctor who thinks someone – maybe his clinic partner he thinks guilty of defrauding Medicare – is out to kill him.

Of course it isn’t long before Reed needs help from his long time friend and computer geek, Cal, as well as Willie, his new wife, and the ever lovable, if intellectually challenged friends, Ace and Deuce, especially when that body he found on the Tahiti beach, turns out to be the person who hired him – or is it?

Jump on this newest Reed Ferguson detective tale and if you haven’t already, meet friends like the ones you know so well. Didn’t you party with them last night?

This yarn is a real page turner

OK technically you have to turn the pages your self. Well if you have an e-reader you just have to tap the page. But, I digress. The story holds your attention, leaving you eager to advance to the next page by whatever means.. So I guess that makes it a page turner.
I've enjoyed getting to know Reed, Willie, Mother Ferguson, and the gang. And I look forward to their further adventures.
Keep up the good work Ms Pawlish

Leave it to Reed to find a dead body on his honeymoon, in Tahiti. One that might be connected to a case he takes once they get back home. Reed agrees to help a Dr. who thinks one of his partners is involved in a Medicare scam and is trying to kill him. Surprise, surprise, pay attention in this one.

Thankfully it was the last day of their honeymoon in Tahiti when the Fergusons found a body on the beach. Back home Reed is approached by Dr Pete Hinton who believes one of the doctors at the medical centre is scamming Medicare. His statements seem suspicious.
An entertaining mystery

A new setting, a new mystery. Poor Reed can't even have a honeymoon without getting caught up in a case. This is a great story and a wonderful series for detective lovers.

Renee Pawlish shines here!

Noir lover Reed Ferguson's latest case involves a modern twist on fraud and good, old fashioned murder. He enlists the Goofball Brothers, his best friend Cal and his wife Willie to help him bring the bad guys to justice.

Kindle Unlimited or else was on a freebie day, yes another one of my going to go thru them all. Not counting novellas {reading in order see list below} or 5 set short stories {read them all together so out of order if order is important, but the order is given below} with list of all the books & sets. This and the last one had 'issues' so ended up knocking off a star on both of them.

The story line held my interest to the end.

Reed Ferguson is a likable character whose seasoned investigative skills were utilized often and in a believable manner. Ferguson mostly worked alone, but had a team readily available a few times when needed. Brief descriptions of people and places Ferguson investigated were enough to picture without being unnecessarily in depth. Several characters were not as they seemed, which kept me guessing to the end.

This is a stand alone book with minimal backstory needed to bring someone unfamiliar with Reed Ferguson up-to-date. At the same time, the backstory isn't overly repetitive to someone who has read the series.

There were no curse words or sexual situations.

I purchased Road Blocked for a discounted price after learning it was just released and on sale. This was the second Reed Ferguson ebook I've read with plans to read more in this series. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes mysteries that keep you guessing to the end.

The only thing I was disappointed in was that the hyperlinks in the back of the ebook to Renee Pawlish's books on Amazon were not working. I'm sure this problem will be remedied soon.

Renée Pawlish's development of the plot, her attention to detail coupled with her ability to contrive clear, concise and playful prose makes for an entertaining read in all her books. I received an advance reader copy of this book from the author, in exchange for an honest review. Here it is! Pawlish absolutely crushes this one, hitting it out of the park! Reed Ferguson is back with another mystery to solve, this one begins while on his honeymoon. he and his bride find a body. All the usual characters are back and Pawlish (as usual) does a great job reacquainting you with each of them in such a fashion so new readers can come up to speed with each of them. No spoilers here though, buy the books, read the books, get into a very good author, I have!

A mystery series number 13 - unlucky for some, but not the reader of the latest Renee Pawlish book, Road Blocked. And, as a stand alone novel, it is not necessary to have read any of the previous books in this great series.
Reed Ferguson at the end of his honeymoon when he and his wife find a dead body on the beach. Seems like work will follow him anywhere. But this time he tries not to get involved. He is a private investigator. No, not the smart-assed, fearless, one step ahead P.I. character, he's just an ordinary, amiable guy trying to make a living who loves his wife, old detective movies and wishes he was cool like Humphrey Bogart. He gets by with a little help from his friends. And his new wife.
Written in short, snappy sentences reminiscent of Raymond Chandler, and with a gentle wit, affection and good character development all bound up in an intriguing mystery, what's not to like? Go get it now

Road Blocked by Rene Pawling is another great Reed Ferguson  novel. Willie was amazed that they had been able to enjoy a complete week of their Tahiti honeymoon without Reed being involved in a mystery.  They enjoyed a last drink at the hotel bar. Willie left Reed at the bar to visit the restroom before going to their reserved dinner. While waiting at the bar, Reed is joined by a man. You know automatically that this man is going to end the honeymoon in a mystery.  So when Willie and Reed takes the romantic walk on the beach and finds the man dead. Off we go on Reed's usually journey of locating clues, suspects, and victims. The storyline has multiple roads so that the reader is drawn in a variety of directions before understanding the full story. I fully recommend this to anyone who ejoins the nor mystery books. Looking forward to the next Reed Ferguson book.

Reed is fresh from his honeymoon when he stumbles across a dead body. In fact, he and Winnie haven't even boarded their plane for home. Fortunately, this occurs on the last night of their tropical getaway, so they were able to enjoy their honeymoon without it turning into a busman's holiday for Reed.

No sooner are they home, however, then Reed is immediately thrust into a new case involving doctors and Medicare fraud. As things heat up, Reed is led down the garden path by his client, someone he comes to find out isn't who he thinks he is.

With more twists and turns and road blocks than you can shake a fist at, Ms. Pawlish has created another engaging and suspenseful mystery with her usual dose of light humor. This is one of my favorite mystery series and I always look forward to each new release with relish. This one definitely does not disappoint.

Reed Ferguson is back and is on his honeymoon with his new wife, Willie. Wouldn't you know they find a body in Tahiti? Fortunately they are cleared to leave and head back home on schedule. But once they get home it soon becomes business as usual as Reed takes on an interesting case involving 3 doctors, Medicare fraud, and some very unusual international involvement. It is one of those books that you want to read non-stop and as fast as you can! So many clues and red herrings wrapped up into a very satisfying mystery solved by Reed, of course!
This is one of the best books in the series and you won't want to miss reading it! Grab it quick at this bargain price that won't last long! Reed 's dry sense of humor, great detecting, and an interesting story line will make this a favorite.

Guessing game

This is not a spoiler. Ferguson is a PI that surrounds himself with a wonderfully wacky group of friends. The story starts with a dead man in Tahiti and continues to unfold in Colorado. Twists and turns with Willie being the perfect PI wife. I love how Pawlish can write excellent mysteries without profanity, gratuitous sex or gore.

Another fun ride

Pawlish keeps you on the edge of your seat while adding humor with the Goofball brothers. I never get tired of the characters he's created. In each book, he adds a new dimension to their character and personality. Each book is a fun read it while it is good to read the books and order it is not necessary.
