Wow, I wish someone had recommended this book to me a couple of years ago! I'm only a quarter of the way through it, and I'm going "ah!" My 8 year old son dealt with a speech delay when he was younger, and now he is still dealing with expressive language issues. He has been diagnosed with adhd as well (probably a big component of his issues putting together spoken and written words). The author does a wonderful job explaining language and its possible problems on an understandable level for parents and teachers who are not specialists. I haven't gotten to her suggestions for helping yet, but just understanding a bit more why my son who is so smart has problems putting together sentences easily in conversations is tremendously helpful. I will review again after I finish this, but I highly recommend it already to anyone with (or who help) children with mild to severe language issues (input or expressive issues are both addressed).
