Have you ever felt overwhelmed of how much information and how many full-length books there are about writing? Have you ever bought several books on writing, thinking they will make you write better and/or faster, but instead you read and read and push away the time your should spend writing?
The Busy Author’s Guide-series is a series of short ebooks meant for all kinds of writers who don't have time to wade through yet another full-length book when you should be writing. This series will provide you with bite-sized help, inspiration, tips, and creative exercises because small steps are easier to tackle than giant leaps.
In this book, How to Get to Know Your Characters with Character Interviews, you will get questions you can use to get to know your characters better while planning your story.
Kylie Day is a lover of books and stories, an avid reader, and a passionate writer. Last time she counted the books in her bookshelves, she had over five hundred of them (the digital library was too extensive to count). While physical books feel magical in her hands - and smell even more magical - she prefers to buy ebooks because she doesn't have any room for more bookshelves. If she had the money she would buy a library, just to fill it with amazing books.
Her love for books is why she, as of the spring of 2015, has a BA in literature. She could never see her life progressing in any other way since that first time she picked up a book and read it with fervor as well as stuck her nose in it just to smell the magic on the pages.

How to Get to Know Your Characters With Character Interviews is the third book in Kylie Day’s The Busy Author’s Guide.
In this book you get a ready-made list of questions that are supposed to serve as material for an interview with your characters. You can use the questions to one character or several, obviously depending on which character you want to know more about or focus on.
The list of questions is quite long, 120 questions, but I didn’t feel like any of them were unnecessary. The questions are divided into several categories, from basic information to fun details, from past to likes and dislikes, and many more.
I found this book really helpful because I usually struggle with crafting and writing characters. If you have trouble with that as well, I would recommend this book to you.
Positives and negatives
Negatives: - I couldn’t find any negatives with this book, to be honest. This book is just such a great resource if you’re unsure about your characters, or if you’re just stuck while crafting them.
Positives: - The questions are written so that they speak to the character. In this way it was easy for me to be in the head of one of my characters and feel like the questions was aimed at her. Small things like this make exercises like this character interview so much simpler.
- Another thing I liked with this book was that there is a reaction style exercise. This exercise is a list of different situations and areas of every-day life where you, as your character, finish off the sentences. For example like: ”When someone gets in my way …” and ”Failure is …” to mention a few.
Note: I received an advance review copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.
