Buckley and Bogey Cat Detective Caper #4

The Case of the Clever Secret Code

Rate this book
Buckley and Bogey, Cat Detectives, find their next big case with the Buckley and Bogey Cat Detective Agency to be their most difficult yet. It all starts one hot summer day, when the boys are sitting in the front window of their Mom’s antique store. That’s when they see a big, black limo crawling up the street and going right through downtown St. Gertrude. So who is in that long, black car? None other than famous movie star, Steele Bronson! And his surprise arrival sends the entire town into a tizzy! Especially when he announces his plans to shoot his next movie right there at the St. Gertrude Library, housed in a historic four-story mansion. And wouldn’t you know it, but it all happens just Gracie, the boys’ human sister, is a finalist in the town’s Fourth of July essay contest. Holy Catnip!

But it isn’t long before Buckley and Bogey realize there is something very wrong with the whole picture . . . including the one that Steele Bronson is filming. Because it soon becomes very clear that the guy is after much more than just an Academy Award. And when the drama turns to danger for the boys and their family, that’s when Buckley and Bogey jump into the scene. Because this is one case that has it all — from Fourth of July festivities to tales of the American Revolution, and from a secret code to a hidden key! And unless Buckley and Bogey want to see this movie turn into a tragedy, it’ll be up to them to crack the case . . . as well as the secret code . . . Holy Mackerel!

Oh wow, Oh my, THIS is easily the BEST Bogey & Buckley book yet!! I laughed, I was utterly touched to the point of tears, and I LOOOOVED how these cats protect their family while solving a case :) Wish I could give this book TEN STARS because it deserves to be recognized that way!

I wasn't impressed with Steel Bronson from the get-go, but wow did he shake up the town of St. Gertrude quickly and ESPECIALLY Bogey and Buckley's family in a short time!

Bogey and Buckley are smarter than ever and just loved how involved they were in this story! Here are sayings/things Buckley didn't understand that made the story cuter for me.....
limo
what a hottie is (referring to Bronson)
what a dreamboat is (referring to Bronson)
what Bogey means when he says, "I have a feeling the games are about to begin"
being famous
"dog & pony show"
dames
unknown tongue
secret code and key
The National Anthem

It was also adorable how Buckley can't get his paw to land where it's aimed on his face, but loved when he finally grew into his paws!

One of my favorite scenes is when Frank, Bronson's writer, goes snooping around the cats' home and they have to stop him. He gets scratched a few times and I wanted to see him suffer more still!

Also loved the exercise wheel Bronson gives to Bogey and Buckley because he thinks they should lose a few pounds for the movie, YEAH RIGHT! However, every time that wheel was used it was mouth dropping :) Wow oh wow! And how they help Gracie after she gets short changed at the essay reading, loved reading how they protect her and love her. I felt protected and loved just reading about how well they take care of their human family.

I also learned about our nation's Independence Day in a new perspective, there was enriched history to be read about as the detectives investigate :)

These cats are so super special and the adventure they experience in this latest book IS NOT TO BE MISSED. Bronson and his gang got everything they deserved and I sure hope they learned a good lesson because they were itching to be dealt with the whole time!!

Two BIG THUMBS UP for the BBCDA, I enjoyed cheering them on in this book!! Love, Love, LOVE these characters!!

Buckley and Bogey are my favorite feline detectives ever. These clever black cats keep me chuckling while they solve mysteries in their little town, saving the day while keeping their human friends puzzled about exactly who keeps outsmarting the villains. I find myself liking each new book even better than the last--the exercise wheel escapade in this book is hilarious! :-D

Along with sleek, canny, head-sleuth Bogey and his fluffy, huggable sidekick Buckley (who narrates each adventure), readers come to know and love many side characters, feline and human. Each story contains a subtle life lesson for children, usually about friendship, kindness, and respect for others. In this story, the clever cats crack a code and prevent a crime . . . Which is a vague description, yes--but I don't want to spoil the plot for anyone!

These Buckley & Bogey mysteries are ideal for children of all ages--they could be read aloud to younger animal-lovers or enjoyed by independent readers. Each book offers a quick and clever plot, appealing characters, and plenty of sweet humor.

Holy catnip! If you know me, you know that I love cats. Just check out my Instagram! When I first picked up a Buckley and Bogey Cat Detective Caper a few years ago, I loved it. Recently, I found another one on my Kindle!

The Good: These are an easy read and full of great characters! For me, I quickly fell in love with all of the cats in this book and just wanted to hug Gracie more than once. It takes a good writer to get you to connect quickly with their characters.

The Bad: There aren't enough books in this series. I honestly cannot get enough of these kitties and their capers.

The Summary: If you have cats, love cats, even like cats and also love a fun read, you're going to want to check out this series.

This was super cute! I can't believe I didn't know about this series before now.

I loved the cats, and that the book was written from the cat's point of view. Such a fun series.

A Refreshing and Fun Read!

This book seems like it would be for kids, but this adult thoroughly enjoyed it! Well written with very few typos (which I can't say for many other books I've read lately). You'll fall in love with these two frisky felines and laugh at their capers.
