Are you one of those readers who loves a good thriller? Love the idea of computer espionage? Sure that one day, someone is going to hack the biggest financial institutions, including the world’s stock markets and bring the moneymen to their knees? Do you think that our government has black ops buried so deep that they are virtually untraceable as they do the grunt work, the detective work and even the wet work to bring criminals down? You are going to love Erec Stebbins’ The Anonymous Signal! No need to be tech savvy, it actually makes this intriguing and HIGHLY possible tale all the more magnetic. Genius hackers, brilliant code writers who know how to sneak in and plant worms or viruses that take on a life of their own, they are out there, trust me and trust Erec Stebbins to add a bureaucratic dog and pony show to muck up the waters. You’ll have to keep remind yourself that this is fiction.

Flash forward and back, then to somewhere in the middle as we catch up with characters from The Ragnanok Conspiracy as once again, those unsung heroes are left out in the cold to uncover, expose and end one of the greatest threats to both the cyberworld and the world at large. One paranoid genius has had it and is out to prove he won’t take it anymore, unless, of course we are talking all of the world’s money. How do fight a master hacker? By recruiting master hackers, and when your orders are “by any means possible,” well, get the best of the best and their backgrounds are often a little sketchy.

Hang on tight for this one, it does NOT slow down and will in turn, make you angry, have you getting exasperated and leaving you wanting to put all of your hard-earned dollars into Mason jars, buried in the ground. At least you would have “real money,” as opposed to the “virtual money” traded on a daily basis. From the murders of high profile movers and shakers to an army of drones, this is edge of your seat madness all the way as the bad guys manage to step one step ahead of the good guys, one line of code at a time.

Great job, Erec Stebbins! Highly intriguing, wickedly fast-paced and oh so current to the times! I will always think of The Anonymous Signal with every stroke of my grandchildren’s keyboards.

I received a copy of The Anonymous Signal from Erec Stebbins in exchange for my honest review.

A very fast-paced exciting story. This could really happen, maybe not on this grand of a scale, but it could happen. I live in the East Bay of San Francisco and I saw when the Anonymous group took over buildings and when they protested in the streets of Oakland. It was scary. This book had the same feel and it was exciting all the way through. I have not read any of this author's previous books, but there were references to characters that were probably in the previous books. It didn't take away from this story at all but it made me think that maybe I could get to know and like the characters. A recommended read!

All I can say is that I pray none of the scary ideas the author Erec Stebbins envisioned in book 3 of the Intel 1 Series comes true. What a dark and deadly and ultimately devastating look at the world, especially the US he has proposed. All the surviving characters of Intel 1, Savas, Cohen, Angel, JP, and Miller, are once again going against rules and regulations as they attempt to stop the world from total collapse from a computer virus developed and injected by a madman. The story continuously moves resolutely towards an ever-approaching but unexpected end even though there are multiple side trips using Gabriel and Mary for various conflicts and engagements. This is a voluntary review of this book that was included in an Advance Reader Copy from Hidden Gems Books.

(I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a review).

(This review may contain spoilers).

Although it's been a little while since I read the previous book in this series, I did find it really easy to pick up the world in this story once more. I found myself quite on edge with the transcripts provided throughout, that made it quite clear that Savas and his team were under suspicion... a fact that made me quite angry on their behalf.

I liked the opportunity to see Lopez and Sara again. I don't remember if I did get to meet Savas and his team in the previous book, but I enjoyed seeing them working together. Even if I couldn't get a handle on their relationships exactly, it was good to see the loyalty in this book... at least within the constraints of the team. I could definitely understand Sara and Lopez's initial reluctance to help out, though... but they probably gave the team the edge they needed.

It was interesting to have the main bad guy involved in Anonymous. I've heard of them, but don't know a whole lot, so I have no idea how accurate the information about the group in this book is... at the same time, it was interesting to get glimpses of the boy-genius; it was enough to make me wonder... if things had been different, could he have turned out differently?

I really liked Angel's character. I didn't really know exactly what her relationship to the team was, but there were hints that she had a really deep past. She was very contradictory to the rest of the team and in many ways, she made me think of Abby from NCIS.

I felt that the tension in this book grew the closer it got towards the end. There weren't many instances where it let up, which was good, since it gave me the opportunity to experience how fast-moving everything was for the characters... though the transcripts did kind of 'stop' the tension a bit.

I did find a bit of the computer language hard to understand, but by the end, I had a bit more understanding. I didn't really like that the book ended on a cliffhanger... even though it has made me want to read the next book to find out what will happen next.

I received this book as pre-release because I read and enjoyed Extraordinary Retribution by the same author. The book starts out a little confusing. I reread the first chapter just to understand what was going on, but after that the story takes off. We are re-introduced to characters from the author's previous books, the FBI's Intel 1 division and Houston and Lopez. These are great characters; ones you want to cheer for. The author includes 3 different time periods in the book and designates them by different typefaces. It took a while to understand that this was what the author was doing but after I understood this it really helped the story. A previous reviewer noted that the story is very much technology driven, and since they were not technology savvy, they had a hard time believing or following the story line. I spent my entire career in IT. I found the story believable and all-the-more scary because it could really happen. I don't know that one person could pull it off, but the vulnerabilities are certainly there. The only thing I thought a little far-fetched was how they foiled the attack, but it is great novel all-in-all. I can't wait for the sequel to see what happens next.

*The Anonymous Signal by Erec Stebbins-
Paperback price-1140RS

NO FORGIVENESS. NO FORGETTING. EXPECT IT.
The global financial system is in chaos. World leaders have been compromised. An unstoppable computer virus eats through the Internet. They are Anonymous. They do not forgive. They do not forget. Expect their signal.
This novel is based around the cyber world and how one virus can bring the world to a standstill. When influential Ceo's from several different companies are signalled out and killed John Savas and his team have a race on their hands to not only find the killer but also to stop a worldwide virus affecting the global internet.

The writer takes us on a roller coaster of a ride where John Savas and his team have to defend not only their motives but their actions in chasing and trying to catch the fugitives whilst being investigated by the United States Armed Forces Special Tribune.

Another masterpiece from, in my opinion, a rising writer in the genre of thriller/mystery writing.

I received this pre-published book to read and review. After reading and thoroughly enjoying Extraordinary Retribution I really wanted to find this as good a read. It's totally different and is basically a good story but I have no comprehensive understanding of computers and how one person can so completely take control of a worldwide system. Probably that will be clarified in the sequel. I was able to enjoy the action and really like the two previous characters, the Priest and the Whore. I would have liked their backstory told a bit as readers won't know them unless they've read the earlier book.
I hope a little more editing is done before releasing this. Mainly the middle part has words spellchecker won't catch,i.e. Google's instead of goggles twice in one chapter. Also beckon instead on beacon and numerous other words used incorrectly. Some awkward phrasing makes story flow less smoothly.
Anyone who does understand technology will probably love this.

Say hello to John Savas and his team for the third time. The journey we embark with them takes us into the dark side of the FBI and the tricks of the trade they have to employ to capture the enemy.

The Anonymous signal by Stebbins is a fast-paced thriller with believable characters. Most are not tech-savvy but thankfully one is with the delightful name of Angel. Her character is a no-nonsense girl who can kick ass when needed as well as fight the computer virus which has been released by Fawkes, Guy Fawkes. The rhyme comes into its own towards the end. There is a husband and wife team in the FBI and a broken bone doesn't slow her down. Her husband is Savas who features as the leader in the chaos and is interviewed throughout the story in depositions. And there is another couple who are rogue according to the trial but who perform great saving tasks. All in all, it could happen and those in power will punish the good-doers - very frustrating to read as it's all possible.

I received this book before its release date because I enjoyed reading The Ragnarök Conspiracy.

I absolutely loved this book, especially the manner in which the author staged the story.

As I read The Anonymous Signal I quickly realized a high ranking member of the FBI seemed to be on trial for crimes against his country. I had no problem with alternating between the actions occurring in court and what had taken place in the field.

Little by little we get the complete story. This is a suspense that is so plausible it is truly too frightening to imagine.

Erec Stebbins just keeps getting better and better with each new book. I look forward to reading more of his work.

This was a great thriller. It centers around a super hacker who is tired of the way the world, and in particular the US works and decides to totally fix it in a ruthless way. It may seem far fetched, but I sure can see it happening. I liked the pace and felt that the characters were quite believable. And as the story rolled along I began to wonder who the real villains were. It's not good to be ruthless with human lives, but I began to wonder who was more ruthless - the government or the so called villains. Anyway - well paced thriller and I would gladly read more by this guy.

Another great book by Erec Stebbins. I really enjoyed the story line and the narrative with the transcript of the tribunal was an interesting way to convey the action of the story. Looking forward to the next book.
