Geeky James O’Brien was involved in a barroom brawl a month ago where he met Officer Scott Brown. The two clicked immediately, but sometimes geeky James worries he isn’t exactly what someone like Scott would need.
When Scott talks James into going camping, James is a little worried. He’s much more of a virtual camping kind of guy. But since it means a lot to Scott, James agrees. When last we left James, Scott and Troy, all was well and the men were on their way to a glorious HEA. After reading the second book in the series, I wish now that that was where the author left it.
Police Officer Scott and computer software designer James have been seeing each other for a month. Their feelings for one another are strong and they are working on finding things in common and showing each other their individual passions. James brings Scott to a super nerdy software/video game convention, Scott takes James to play paintball and then Scott asks James to take a mini vacation with him, alone, hiking and camping in the San Bernardino Mountains. James begrudgingly agrees.
The activities the boys are experiencing together all turn into unmitigated disasters. Top the fact that the heat from the first book seemed to be gone and that every chance he got, James would ask Scott, “What are you doing with me? I’m an antisocial loser.” and we have a lackluster sequel to a great book.
It was nice to see these boys again, but there were no warm ‘n fuzzy feelings from the first book (and we only saw spunky young Troy a handful of times and only when he was on the way to the sitter’s) and things got a bit too serious at times. My recommendation is to read the first book (because it was delightful!) and let Scott, James and Troy’s story end there.

The first book was nice enough, so I'll give this a try :)
So, finished and it was a quick, easy read in between. Just like the first book. The kid still spoke in a somehow peculiar way.

In book two, the they’ve been together – dating – for a couple months and you can tell things are going well, but they are still miles from anything “serious”. James is still clearly reluctant to trust things working out.
Scott convinces him to go camping and ends up hurt – when they make it back to civilization their relationship has finally changed and is now on far more solid ground.
What I love about these two books is James. He’s such a believable character. He really doubts Scott all the time and is quite prickly. To counter that, Scott is almost super-humanly perfect and charming – but it works.
The smexy times are hot and the tender moments more so because James is so sparing in his warm-and-fuzzy moments.

James is a self imposed geek, ok maybe not so self imposed, but none the less is considered a geek. He is more comfortable inside of his home or office working on his computer or playing video games than being outside in nature.
Scott is a police officer who has a young son and loves being outdoors in nature or playing “manly” sports. The way they met wasn’t the most conventional way and in all honesty you would never think the two of them would be a couple, I guess opposites do attract.
When Scott decides to finally introduce James to his co-worker buddies, he decides to go paintballing, which of course James is just excited about but he does it for Scott. To everyone’s surprise and to his own James actually does really well and his team won, a few times. Scott has a long weekend coming and decides he wants to take James camping, just the two of them for some fun and alone time. Of course James, not being the outdoorsy type is totally nervous and researches and maybe freaks out just a little bit but again because Scott asked James agrees to go, that is when James and Scott finds out just how much James can handle and if their relationship can be a forever thing.
So being book 2 in series I was a little worried about being lost as I hadn’t read book one but as I read that worry disappeared as it can be read as a standalone. Now with that being said I enjoyed the book so much that I had to go out and get the first one just to get the full story of how James and Scott met, and I would suggest you do the same just for the enjoyment of the storyline.
Scott and James are cute together and Scott’s son, Troy is so adorable. It being only 74 pages it’s a pretty quick read and makes you want more, which is a good thing. The interaction between the characters is very touching and pulls you in and allows you to get lost in the story and that is always a good thing for me. I would definitely recommend you picking up this book as well as the first, but as I said before The Cop and the Geek 2 can be read as a standalone.

As the first book before, Scotts and James's story is awesome. To see them again, still being in a relationship made me curious what they're up for next.
James is still a bit unsure of why Scott would be together with some guy like himself. Going on some paint ball fun with Scott to finally meet his friends, isn't really helping either. Fighting against his disliking of cops in any way, James tries his best to get along with them. Getting out of his comfort zone means a lot for James, but he tries anyway, because he loves Scott and even his little son, Troy, right? So why not join the man he loves on a camping trip. Things end as they would never have expected it to be on this trip an James has to show he is more than just a cute geek. To see and finally hear James say how he feels about Scott out loud was heartwarming and really made me proud of James myself. These both just belong together. James has overstepd his own borders and more than once out of his comfort zone. He deserves a happy end and a caring man at his side, and he even adores the little son of mentioned man to his own surprise.

I had such a hard time trying to rate this book! I ended up going by the GR star rating... 2 stars = it was ok!
This wasn't romantic, or cute like the first book; here we get to meet Scott's dusche-bag of a partner on the force, and I disliked that asshole with a passion. He ruined this book for me! Plus, Scott and Jamie's adventure camping in the woods was... purposeless? To what, show us Jamie isn't useless? I dunno, but not what I was expecting for a sequel to their original story.
I was going to give it 3 stars because I felt generous until I got to the end...errrr, what the fuck? I don't like books with kids who don't behave/talk/think like kids. "James, you comed home finally! I thaud you'd never make it!" Ya know what, this was supposed to mean thank Christ you finally decided to commit yourself to us! A kid that doesn't even know how to talk right doesn't say stuff like that, with a hidden meaning. Whatever!

So. Friggin'. Cute. As with the first book, I totally identified with James and loved Scott and Troy. I like this couple so much! I would love to read future updates about what is going on with them and how their relationship is evolving.

I enjoyed this follow up, and I liked that it dealt with the whole "what's next after the HEA" of the first book. It was sexy, fun, and a nice quick follow up. Definitely read the first book before this one!

I thought this was a fun follow up to the first story. I really wanted more of the guys when the other one ended so I was jazzed to see a sequel. I found it entertaining and SEXy!

This is the second in a series but I haven’t read the first one, the story where James and Scott (and Troy) meet. In this installment, James and Scott have been dating for a month. First Scott “surprises” James into a paint ball game in order for James to meet Scott’s work friends. It is a case of instant dislike on the part of Jack, Scott’s police partner, even as Scott doesn’t take it very seriously. Paint ball goes pretty well (James is better than the thought!), Jack notwithstanding, and now Scott wants to go camping, just the two of them.
The camping trip has problems, big ones. James’ father was a cop and a bad father, and James tends to pull away. He can’t here because there are things that have to be done. I did like it when it finally admits “…it’s gonna hurt” and Scott has a sweet reaction to it.
It lowered my enjoyment (and my rating) a bit that after a month things were so serious between them, considering that there was Troy to think of. Also, I wanted some type of resolution or explanation about Jack, which didn’t happen. This may be due to the fact that I didn’t read the story before this one, which I now need to do. But for the most part, it was cute and sweet short story. James gets to realize not every cop is like his father and Scott gets to prove that James is much stronger than people give him credit for.

I have so many questions that have no answers. I expected a huge blow up—unrequited love, hatred, a fight… something. But there was nothing on that front.
Overall, this story is good for the new level of trust and emotion that James and Scott reach, but the holes are distracting. I’m hoping a third book will answer those questions and put so issues to rest.

Adorable

This was a wonderful follow-up to the first book in the series. The story was great and the characters were amazing. Yes, they have some issues to work through, but they compliment each other well and bring out the best in one another. Recommended!

Oh shucks, I really liked this book, it was short and sweet, no real sex, just a nice romantic story with a little bit of drama in it. Just a side note, I don't like Jack, and I think it should of delved into Scott's reaction to him..
