Little Owl

Little Owl's 1-2-3

Rate this book
Little Owl flies through the night forest, visiting his friends. One friendly fox says hello, two beavers wave, three skunks nibble berries. And when Little Owl finally reaches his own tree, he sees Raccoon who has gathered ten acorns. Sweetly told, 1-2-3 is just right for children learning their numbers!

I love everything about the illustrations in this book except the little owl, which doesn't really look like an owl, especially to my two-year-old. He loves owls, but never pointed at this one while we read. It just looks like eyes.

The text is fine. Typical counting book. I did enjoy that it featured nocturnal animals. I also enjoyed the night scenes, which made the book perfect for bedtime reading.

My son LOVES these books. This one counts up to ten and he loves counting the animals. It spells out the number and features the number in the top corner of the page. Little owl is such a cute character and all his friends from the other books have returned. I highly recommend this book. I even enjoy reading it over and over.

My two year old loved this book and wanted to read it multiple times in one day. We like practicing sounds with zoo phonics so my son made the connection between the owl in this book and “Nigel Night Owl” from that program.

It was okay. The illustrations are cute and fit the night scene very well. The possums were the cutest possums I have seen. Good counting book whee you count things with each number.

I loved the dark and mysterious nighttime adventures and the counting aspect. Cam must prefer daytime animals, because his interest was quite lackluster.

I really like the Little Owl series however unfortunately my toddler very quickly lost interest in this book strongly proclaiming "DONE!" about two pages in. The illustrations are beautiful with a wide range of animals depicted. There is a slight story but mostly it's just Little Owl visiting various numbers of animal friends before heading off to sleep.

Counting at night in the woods with Owl one learns some of the foods that nocturnal animals eat. A bit of humor is depicted with the seven frogs having a croaking contest. . .I laughed.
