Emily Baker can't seem to keep a job, a home, or a goldfish alive. Dr. Logan Price is a smoking-hot vet with enough emotional baggage to fill an entire nation.
When Emily crashes her pizza delivery scooter trying to avoid hitting a stray cat, she finds herself with three new problems.
She's now the reluctant owner of said cat, who seems determined to destroy what little remains of her life.
Her new job at Price Veterinary Services might finally be her chance at stability, if she can just avoid antagonizing her impossibly handsome but frustratingly cold boss.
Dr. Sexy should have no business making her lady parts tingle, but every time he rolls up his sleeves, Emily forgets how to form basic sentences.
But as their paths tangle in unexpected ways, it's becoming painfully obvious that their story could end with Emily in the emergency room, Logan in therapy, or both of them tangled in bedsheets… depending on which disaster strikes first.
Some love stories come with roses and chocolates. This one comes with fangs, claws, and a pregnancy test fished out of a toilet.
Emma Jane is a full-time history teacher, part-time referee to three furry troublemakers, and devoted mom to one human daughter who somehow inherited none of her organizational skills. When she's not explaining why the American Revolution wasn't started over tea preferences or mediating disputes between her pets, Emma can be found in her natural habitat: curled up with a book, probably ignoring the laundry.
Her life motto? "If reading all day were a legitimate career, I'd be CEO." Since that position remains frustratingly unavailable, she channels her book obsession into writing stories that make hearts flutter and pages turn faster than her dog can destroy a new pair of shoes.
Emma lives in beautiful chaos with her family, where the coffee is strong, the deadlines are real, and there's always at least one pet plotting world domination.
"Catnip, Claws, and Chaos" by Emma Jane throws readers headfirst into the hilariously disastrous life of Emily, a twenty-two-year-old trying to make it in New York City. From her orange Little Caesars uniform to a terrifying scooter accident, and an unexpected encounter with a stray cat and a brooding, handsome veterinarian, Emily's life is a masterclass in comedic misfortune. This book grabbed my attention from the very first page with its rapid-fire wit and relatable struggles.
The story kicks off with Emily, a self-proclaimed "badass" at six who's now questioning all her life choices. Her initial encounter with Dr. Logan Price, the aforementioned hot vet, is a chaotic meet-cute involving a red light, a near-miss, a cat, and Emily sprawled on the pavement. Logan, initially perceived as "Asshole-Superman," quickly becomes Emily's reluctant rescuer and, to her dismay, the reason she inadvertently adopts a "demonic" cat she names Demon.
What truly shines in this book is Emily's internal monologue and her interactions with the world around her. Her self-deprecating humor and sharp observations about her precarious financial situation, her disastrous past jobs (including a memorable chicken costume incident), and her perpetual bad luck with animals make her an incredibly endearing and laugh-out-loud protagonist. Her inner thoughts about Logan—alternating between annoyance at his gruff demeanor and undeniable attraction to his "Greek god" physique—are a constant source of amusement.
Logan, the seemingly stoic and perpetually scowling Dr. Price, offers a fantastic foil to Emily's chaotic energy. As the story progresses, we get glimpses behind his carefully constructed walls, revealing a man burdened by a difficult past and unexpected tenderness, particularly towards animals (and, subtly, towards Emily). His professional yet exasperated reactions to Emily's antics are pure gold. The supporting characters, including the eccentric Mrs. Moore and Emily's equally witty best friends, Kate and Sarah, add layers of charm and humor to the narrative.
The plot navigates Emily's struggles with unemployment, her attempts to adapt to a new job as Logan's receptionist (despite her profound fear of animals), and the slow-burn, undeniable chemistry that develops between her and Logan. The animal-related mishaps, including a memorable incident involving a snake and another involving "mouth poop," add to the book's lighthearted and chaotic charm.
While this book is packed with humor and a budding romance, it also subtly touches on themes of resilience, finding one's footing, and overcoming personal fears. Emma Jane masterfully blends comedy with heartfelt moments, making "Catnip, Claws, and Chaos" a thoroughly enjoyable and engaging read that leaves you rooting for Emily at every turn. It’s a delightful escape that I highly recommend.

It had some redeeming qualities and potential but fell short in execution. Recommendable, though with some reservations. 3⭐️: Good read, but didn’t quite stand out. Still worth recommending to others. 4⭐️: Really enjoyed it and stayed engaged throughout. Would read the book again. Hot mess meets buttoned up hottie! That describes Emily and Logan. This couple made me laugh and cringe and sigh and roll my eyes and absolutely smile. Emily’s bffs are terrific too. They love her and support her and verbally slap her when she needs it. Logan’s friend Stephen is his rock when he needs it. This was a great read and I’m glad I got the opportunity t o enjoy it.

I love all the chaos that happens throughout the story. I felt like the main characters were good for each other despite their personality and age differences. Emily is a force to be reckoned with and she just made me happy. This is a story I could not put down!
**Received this book as an ARC** This book was amazing! The main characters made me giggle so hard with their banter. There’s great character growth with the MMC. Couldn’t put this down! Finished it in a day.
Catnip, Claws, and Chaos is a hilarious, heartfelt romantic comedy that throws you headfirst into the disaster zone that is Emily Baker’s life. From a pizza-delivery crash to an accidental adoption of a demon-possessed cat, Emily’s world becomes a perfect storm of chaos, comedy, and unexpected chemistry with her grumpy, gorgeous new boss—Dr. Logan Price.
Emily is messy, impulsive, and wildly endearing. Logan is broody, guarded, and seriously swoon-worthy. Together, they crash into each other’s lives (literally) and spark a slow-burning romance that’s equal parts laugh-out-loud funny and deeply emotional. Their banter sizzles, the secondary characters shine, and Demon the cat steals every scene he's in.
Though the book opens at breakneck speed with insta-chaos and insta-lust, it soon finds its rhythm, balancing quirky humor with deeper themes of healing, love, and second chances. Logan’s heavy backstory adds emotional weight, while Emily’s lovable messiness brings levity and heart.
A laugh-out-loud, feel-good romance with claws, kisses, and more than one surprise—this book is purr-fect for fans of chaotic heroines, reluctant heroes, and enemies-to-lovers stories with depth.
In Catnip, Claws and Chaos by Emma Jane, Emily has always bad luck and her life is chaos. When she crashes her scooter, veterinarian Logan comes to her rescue.
When I started reading this book, I had no idea what I was going to read. But from the first we get thrown into the life of Emily. I loved her from the start and I smiled a lot, because she gets into all kinds of hilarious situations. Her new boss Logan is totally different, he is grumpy and a bit stoic, but as we all know, opposites attract. Their interactions and growing relationship were so great o read about. The writing is flowing and I enjoyed reading this book a lot.
Catnip, Claws and Chaos is a lovely and cute hilarious romantic comedy, with great banter, lots of humour and a very likable FMC. Recommended if you want to read a story that makes you laugh.
I loved Catnip, Claws, and Chaos by Emma Jane. I have not laughed so hard reading a book in a while. Emily, Logan and even little Demon are a match made in heaven.
Emily is a mess. Her life runs on chaos. Working at a pizza delivery place is not her ideal job. On a cold, miserable night, instead of delivering the pizza she is supposed to, she wrecks her scooter trying to avoid a cat. In the process she almost wrecks into Logan's vehicle. This is the first of many chaotic moments Emily brings to Logan's life.
Logan, being dealt one blow after another all his life, can't stay away from Emily and he doesn't know why. She is a complete mess and a problem he doesn't need. Not being able to stay away from her, when Emily gets kicked out of her apartment, Logan tells her she and the Demon cat can move in with him.
Logan and Emily, come from two different worlds, yet they fit perfectly together.
I highly recommend Catnip, Claws and Chaos. This book is funny, heartwarming and you root for Emily and Logan from the beginning. I didn't want to put it down. I will definitely be checking out more from Emma Jane.

Read this from start to finish in one session, kept me up till 2am, I just couldn't put it down.
Light hearted, chaotic and so funny, I mean I don't think I have laughed this much with a book in a long time although if I have to admit it was more giggling like a school girl than LOL vibes
Not to mention each time I had to look away from the book during awkward embarrassing moments saying to myself OMG did that just happen or did they really just say that and I don't mean this in a bad way the complete opposite actually because I most likely had the biggest smile on my face each time
This was a really enjoyable easy read. Here for a good time not a long time 🤭
I was excited to read about a MMC who’s a vet. And also, anytime there’s a cat in the story, the crazier the better, I’m first in line. Give me ALL THE CAT STORIES.
This tale begins, literally, with meeting the cat plus insta-action and insta-lust between the leads. Like, the inciting incident chapter 1. I personally prefer a slower start where I get to meet each character in their element first to get a sense of their personality and their life pre life changing love. Here, the circumstances dictate that both Emliy and Logan’s are thrown into disarray right away because of a near-accident.
Then everything between them happens in rapid succession. Like BAM—he forces her to adopt this demon cat and offers her a job all within the first hour of meeting.
Look, I will say the author has a strong voice and the humor was on point. I loved Emily and Logan, separately, as people. As the opening events settle down, their growing attraction hums along. Emily is a mess of a person, and she was fun to read. I always wondered what it would be like to be my own self-contained tornado. She’s disorganized, quirky, and perfect for Mr. Straight-Laced life-in-a-narrow-box Logan.
There were a few elements, however, that knocked off some stars for me:
First, Logan’s backstory. It’s sad. Not just marred by loss, but like, LOTS OF LOSS. I almost put the book down at first, unsure I wanted a MMC with this much baggage. I will say that as the story went along, he came to terms with his pain and by the end, when he’s ready to let go of the past and move on, I was in tears. That scene was beautifully done.
Honestly, I think that the past loss he suffered is enough for conflict. I didn’t need the alcoholic father showing up. It felt more like a plot device to add instant conflict whereas the past conflict is more ethereal. But it just didn’t feel real to me.
I would’ve liked to know more about Emily and her hopes and dreams. I didn’t catch what she actually wanted from life in NYC or what she envisioned for her future. Maybe it really was to fall in love, get married and have kids? And that’s ok! I just wish I could’ve had a glimpse of what her life could have been had she not met Logan (and assuming she got her act together and got a job with some money).
In the end, this was an enjoyable read. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Emily is an accident prone somewhat scatterbrained dynamo and Logan is a sexy commitment phobic veterinarian. Their chemistry is off the charts. Well written sometimes cringy romance. I just couldn’t believe the situations Emily would get herself into. I certainly cringed right along with her. Her friends were a bit crazy but stalwart and Logan a great vet but needed to learn to be a bit kinder to himself and, at times, to Emily. The story was a page turner and worth the read! Definitely recommend.
I enjoyed reading this book! Loved the banter between the main characters as well as the main female character and the cat. There were a few scenes I wish the author had gone into more, but overall it was exactly what I was looking for in a lighter fun summer read, that made me laugh out loud at a few scenes.

I quickly fell in love with Emily, I instantly wanted her to get a redirection on life because she found chaos everywhere she went. Enter Logan who is rich, handsome and looks to have everything going for him. Except he doesn't, he might be rich in money but he was lacking much more. I really enjoyed the banter of Emily and Logan. I did feel like the last few chapters were rushed and hurried but I overall enjoyed this book. Thank you to the author for gifting me a copy of this book.
Wow!! Emily has the patience of a saint when it comes to her cat!! She is a walking, talking example of chaos. If there is an accident to be had, she will make it! Logan has emotionally checked out, except where it comes to animals. So when the two meet, quite by accident, it's only natural that sparks will and do fly. It kind of amazed me the lengths that Logan went to for Emily. Not many people would do the things that he offered. That cat is an absolute demon and named perfectly! If I had a cat that acted like Emily's cat, it would learn quickly how to survive outside!! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. My favorite part of this story was when the little boy brought his "pet" into the clinic because it ate something it shouldn't have. I laughed myself silly picturing Emily doing what Logan asked her to do. One lesson about this story, simple communication could have solved all kinds of issues and heartache between Emily and Logan.
I really enjoyed this book. Emily our main female character is chaotic, messy, and real. She doesn’t have everything together she’s clumsy and very relatable. Logan our male character is her opposite but a good balance for her. Grumpy with a heart of gold. I love a book with a good animal companion and demon the cat is great comic relief when things get too serious. The side characters were fun and supportive. The storyline was good. Overall I would recommend this book. Disclaimer I received an advanced review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶🌶 I flew through this book. The writing kept my attention, and I easily felt connected to the characters. I even let out a few chuckles (especially during the hair ball scene 😂🤢)
Tropes: -age gap -grumpy/sunshine -enemies to lovers
Emily is a 22 year old girl who moved to new York city and lives in a tiny apartment on the verge of getting kicked out because shes late on rent and can't keep a job. She's convinced animals hate her and now shes responsible for a cat she almost ran over on her scooter while delivering pizzas. Now shes working at a vet clinic and very attracted to her new boss Logan.
Logan is a 30 year old wealthy veterinarian who prefers the company of animals over people (who can blame him). He has a traumatic pass, causing him to swear off serious relationships at least until he meets Emily the train wreck who he found on the road with a scooter on top of her and the cat she almost hit. This a very cute and cheesy romcom with an ending that had me smiling and kicking my feet💙

Received as an ARC read Finished the book in a day was a easy read the story flowed well had the right amount of 🌶️🌶️ The book was funny in places , a little heart break with lots of flirting Would love to read more from the author
Age gap with enemies to lovers Mr grumpy and miss full of life Had me reading the book in one sitting
Emily a young adult going from one job to the other Working to try and keep up with the rent off chance meeting a grumpy well to do vet Logan after Emily almost collides with a black cat and Logan end up taking her and the cat back to his practice for a once over Sparks fly almost immediately Emilie's life is one big wreck and his is lonely and uneventful until they meet and nothing is the same for either of them They end up spending a lot of time together, walls come down and go back up Will they figure it out and come together before it's too late ?
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I really, really enjoyed the first 75% of this book. The last 25% was not bad, but it included one of my not-favorite tropes, and SO MUCH happened in that short amount of the book that it felt unbalanced.
First, I loved the characters and this book was funny. Emily reminds me of a friend and her inner monologue made me laugh. There was a good amount of spice, but the book revolved around an actual plot.
Like I said, the end of the book was not my favorite, but that’s more personal preference than anything wrong with it. I did like the very end HEA. Overall, this is a book I would recommend for someone looking for a fun, quick read that includes some spice and heavier topics.
This was not a bad read. I give it 3.5 stars. I was a little nervous to even read it because I am not an animal person and tend to stay away from books involving them. With that being said, Emily's interactions throughout this book were hilarious. She was a danger to herself and everyone around her, but her eccentrics balanced out Logan's broodiness.
I didn't really care for the beginning of the book and their interactions when they met, but this book definitely got better as it went along. The beginning was just weird for me. The initial level of irritation Logan felt for her, from just meeting her, seemed unrealistic. Then add forcing a demonic cat on her and I was truly a little befuddled. This is the main reason I couldn't give this book 5 stars.
I do have to give a special mention to Demon and Mrs. Moore. Those two were a force unto themselves. Never a dull moment when they were around. Also, loved Emily's friends. A good friend and alcohol in the presence of an iffy man is ALWAYS a great combination for me.
This book did get a little spicy, which I loved but Logan was just a little too wishy-washy for me. And that is a criticism and a compliment to the author because Emma Jane really had me hating this man at certain points in this book. I understand he had a lot going on in his psyche, but with him being older, I needed him to get his s**t together!
I love a HEA so I was happy for Emily and Logan in the end. There was a little drama to get there, but it was to be expected. If you like animal reads, crazy FMCs, complicated MMCs, pregnancy tropes, ride-or-die friends, with some shaky family situations, this is a book for you.

I was a little disappointed with this novel. I liked the premise, but I had a few issues with the characterization. Our heroine, Emily, is on the flaky side. She's professionally unqualified to do anything, and ends up working as a veterinary receptionist by accident, through the generosity of or hero, the veterinarian. She's expected to be a hands-on assistant, and the vet seems strangely unaware that she doesn't really like animals. She adops a cat, rather against her will, who has a demonic personality without redeeming qualities. She remains terrified of animals for much of the book.
The vet, Logan, made me worry about Emily getting involved with him, because he appears to cope with problems by drinking. He is unable to overcome his own childhood trauma.
The two are sexually compatible, but contraception is not always addressed (which is a concern especially because of his ex-partner's prior unplanned pregnancy and loss). He's emotionally unavailable. She doesn't seem to notice this.
The two manage to overcome their obstacles and build a relationship, but this is one of those books that I worry the protagonists won't be able to maintain it long-term. I would really liked to see more character growth and emotional maturation of both leads.

TA: Those who appreciate a good romance and like the following tropes (mini spoiler alert): Strangers to Lovers, Boss/Employee, Enemies to Lovers, age gap, "damsel in distress", forced proximity (more or less), NSFW.
It is engaging and easy-to-read, and the book contains many deliciously written steamy scenes (so tread carefully if you do not enjoy reading anything 18+).
At the same time, Catnip, Claws, and Chaos might not be the best fit for those who dislike (mild) coercion/manipulation occurring between the characters (at the very beginning), light dominance, grumpy MMCs, traumatic experiences, or, quite obviously, animals.
5/5 for the writing style, yet 3/5 from me because the plot made me feel concerned at times (previously referenced coercion etc) which influenced the reading process. I also turned out to dislike the MMC's personality and behaviour, although it only serves as a proof of Emma's great characterisation skills which made the MCs feel alive and evoked emotions (positive or otherwise) in me.
Do get this book if you're craving something spicy, honest and raw, or if you are experiencing some issues at work, "Catnip, Claws, and Chaos" might give you hope along with butterflies in your stomach!

I cried, I laughed, I scoffed, and I straight cackled at times. Overall, I loved this books and couldn’t put it down! I’m an absolute sucker for a book that makes you think and captures your raw emotions.
As someone who’s always been a lot, I found myself genuinely understanding Emily. The author made her a real, raw character who the reader can see themselves in. My only real critique is how over the top dramatic she could be at times. Dr. Price was also well written and realistically captured how trauma shapes people.
Without giving any spoilers, I wish we would have faced more of his trauma head on. Although, it is meant to be a lighter story so I understand. The response to the pregnancy and how it resolves could have been a little less rushed, there was high and beautiful build up for a very rushed ending.
Overall, I would say 4.25/5 stars and I definitely look forward to reading more by this author.

Emily is barely making it, behind on her rent, and while delivering pizza, she has an accident trying to rescue a cat. Logan Price, a veterinarian drives down the road, jumps out, rescues the cat, and helps Emily into his car. He takes care of the cat in his clinic and tends to the wound on Emily’s knees. When she loses her job and her apartment, he takes her home with him, giving her a place to stay and a job at the clinic. Emily is the chaos in his life until he begins to enjoy what she will say or do next. The story is filled with humor and love. It is fun watching the ladies flirting with Dr. Price and Emily doing her best as office administrator. Great book with wonderful characters.
Emily is a 22-year-old who recently moved to New York City. She lives in a small apartment and is struggling to stay afloat. She believes that animals don't like her and is almost proven correct when she has a close call with a cat and her scooter while out delivering pizzas. She later begins working at a veterinary clinic, where she becomes attracted to her new boss, Logan.
Logan is a 30-year-old veterinarian who prefers animals over people. He has a traumatic past that led him to avoid serious relationships. He and Emily meet after he finds her and the cat on the road after she almost hit it.
I recieved an advanced reader copy of this book for free and am willingly leaving this review. 💛
It did start a bit thrown in the middle of a story. It was a lot of Insta-everything at first. Then there was a lot of trauma points for the MMC. It was the hits kept coming with him. The parental thing I think didn't need to be as current as it was since it kinda resolved fairly quickly. The FMC was very I am just helpless coded at the begining. Around the middle point is when I started to really like the story. It became more about what currently is happening and them going through now issues. I did like that throughout the story the MCs grew to be more. All the animal humor I completely loved, especially Demon lol.

Ah Emily, loosing her job, with the cat from hell, behind with the rent, getting homeless, starting work in Vet clinic, hot grumpy vet doctor what could go wrong?I like Emily and Logan together, she's sometimes silly,he is serious but in this book opposite attract work's good.I understand Logan and he's fear to open up to relationship, after such loss in his life it's only normal. Good debiut with spice, humour and suprises. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a complimentary copy. Emily cannot seem to catch a break; she keeps losing her jobs, and now she may be kicked out of her apartment for being late on the rent. Logan is a grumpy vet who prefers animals to people. Emily ends up working at the clinic, and these two are opposites; sunshine meets grumpy. Logan's past has caused him to be a loner but these two seem to fit perfectly together. I liked how Emily and Logan connected. Will Logan allow his past to interfere with his future with Emily?
Emily's life is nothing but chaotic she always means we'll but nothing comes easy to her. Now thinking if her life choices have been totally wrong can she sort her life. Logan has a successful career and is stead fast in his life always being composed and rigorous in his work life. When he meets Emily he suddenly becomes her steading source. Can they help each other him overcome his past and hopefully Emily finally become less self deprecating
I don't know what to say for this book. I love how chaotic Emily is and how she tries to go with the flow. Logan is a bit uptight, but he matches Emily. My favourite is Demon. She really did live up to her name, and I loved the chaos that she caused.
I felt like some of the side characters were a bit judgey, but overall, it is a good book.
A delightfully hilarious read with just the right amount of heat. Our main character Emily has disaster after disaster the brews into the perfect chaos storm and I so enjoyed reading about it! I loved the characters and the humor and the heat. An overall good romance read.

This is the first book I´ve read from this author and I added her straight to my favourites list, I had so much fun with Emily and Logan and all the chaos going on until they finally ended up as a couple - one thing is for sure, their lives will never get boring.
