The deal was marry my teammate’s sister, fake the fairy tale, get her a green card, and part ways like it never happened.
No feelings. No strings. No complications.
Yeah, well… that didn’t go according to plan.
We caught feelings. Big ones.
Now she’s pregnant, with my baby. And just when I’m ready to admit this might be more than just a deal, she drops a she’s leaving. Headed back to Slovakia.
And she’s taking my kid with her.
That’s not happening.
She might think it’s over—but this story? It’s just getting started. Because they’re both mine, and I’m not letting go without a fight.
We are back in Fort Lauderdale, with one of my favorite hockey teams, the Lauderdale Knights.
The conflict comes at us in the form of a lost job, resulting in a lost visa, and a quick marriage. Add in a cat 5 hurricane, heightening all the emotions. Hana, who is the sister of a Knight player Johann, has her company go under and loses her Visa. Alden, also a Knight, and Hana have a friendship; the attraction is there, but they have solidly stayed in the friend zone. Alden also has major rust issues due to his previous marriage.
I was hooked from the first page, I love this group of friends and how they are there for each other. Hana is strong, smart, and independent, and handles all of the emotions and things Alden throws at her. But it is the underlying real emotions the two must admit before this will work. Will hearts be broken?
Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.
I am new to the Lauderdale Knights, but that did not take away from my enjoyment of this 9th installment. Yes, I missed some of the nuances in relationships etc, but that is to be expected.
I enjoy a friends-to-fauxmance-to-more story, and Aiden and Hana's was a good one. A fake marriage that leads to more. Friends around them who can see that they like each other even when they deny it to themselves.
But of course our lovelies don't have the easiest road to a HEA, with Aiden's past getting in his way - I got why but boy oh boy was it frustrating. And my biggest peeve - communicate, people!
I enjoyed the people around them, adore how close Hana is to her brother Jonah and his family.
And of course an 80's style ending that would melt the coldest and hardest of hearts.
But the thing that I really appreciated about Clear Shot? It is set in Florida, and finally, a romance that includes the natural disasters that happen every year in that part of the world!
I need to go back and read the rest of the books in this series, and look forward to any more that may come in the future (as it felt like we were coming close tot he end of the series with Clear Shot)
5 Star Review Clear Shot (Lauderdale Knights #9) by Kat Mizera
Being back in Fort Lauderdale with the Lauderdale Knights always brings a smile to my face.
This is Aiden and Hana ’s story and it was a fabulous addition to the series.
They have been friends for a while as Aiden is Hana’s brother’s teammate. I I fell hard and fast for Aiden who I have loved in previous books. Hana is a strong woman and hanging met her previously I couldn’t wait to see what Ms.Mizera had in store for this couple. It starts off as a marriage of convenience but quickly morphs into so much when feelings neither expected to act on form.
This was a well written, entertaining story with characters who you cannot help but become invested in. When an unplanned pregnancy adds to the complications of their marriage a whole set of other issues come up; particularly when Hana decides to return to Slovakia.
What she didn’t count on is Aiden’s determination to keep his wife and child with him and to have the happily ever after they all deserve.
Can Aiden convince Hana to stay and take a chance on love?
Clear Shot is book 9 in the Lauderdale Knights series and follows Aiden as he falls in love with his new wife, Hana.
Aiden is a pro hockey player with the Lauderdale Knights. He did not have an easy childhood growing up in the middle of mental illness. He was lucky to get in to hockey at a young age and be good at it. It helped him get away from the chaos of home and his own bouts of depression.
Hana is Aiden's teammate, Johan's, little sister. She has had a crush on Aiden since the day they met, but refused to get involved with him. As such, they became friends. Just friends. She and Johan were born in Slovakia. Johan came to the US to play hockey and he brought her over to go to college at MIT. She has a solid family support system with her brother, father, step mother and grandmother.
When the company Hana is working for has to abruptly close down, she finds herself in a predicament. There is only one solution: Marry one of her brother's teammates. And the lucky groom is Aiden.
They have been friends since the day they met. Both felt an attraction to the other, but they knew that if anything happened between them it would put a strain on Johan and Aiden's friendship and team relationship. Now they are going to be married. It is not a matter of if they will do the deed, but when.
But Aiden is keeping secrets. It is not until someone asks them about having children that they both realize they have not had some conversations that need to be had.
Lucky for him, Hana understands his concerns. It also helps that he offers her other options as a compromise.
But fate has a mind of its own, and will intervene and turn their worlds upside down. Hurtful words are said. Trust is broken. And so are their hearts.
Will Aiden be able to redeem himself?
With one final grand gesture, after realizing with an idiot he has been, Aiden finally goes after what he wants. But is it too late?
While I understand Aiden's concerns about his genetics, what I do not understand is how he could jump to conclusions the way he did. It made me so angry the way he spoke to Hana and the accusations he levied. Without even giving her a chance to speak.
Everything about Hana was about communication. When they were looking to buy a house, she was concerned about the price and she needed Aiden to help her put together a budget. She does not want to be seen as a gold digger. She knows she is not contributing financially because of her situation, so she is very cognizant of spending his money.
Lucky for Hana, she has a core group of friends within the team WAGs. But that will only get her so far after fate intervenes in her relationship with Aiden. I loved seeing her interact with these women in the best of times and the worst.
Mr Knight is a knight in shining armor. I love that he is interested in what really happened and wants to help her fix this fissure. He has more money than God, but can he really convince Aiden to do the right thing?
But I think the older woman in the airport was the absolute best, next to Millie. She intervenes on Hana's behalf. Then she talks with her in the bathroom. She asks blunt questions and gives her some sage advice. And to find out she is a Knights season ticket holder was the best.
3.75stars-CLEAR SHOT is the ninth instalment in Kat Mizera’s contemporary, adult LAUDERDALE KNIGHTS erotic, hockey romance series. This is professional hockey player Aiden Barbeau, and Hana Hajek’s story line. CLEAR SHOT can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. Hana is Johan Hajek’s sister (Cheap Shot #5)
Told from dual first person perspectives (Hana and Aiden) CLEAR SHOT follows the marriage of convenience between our story line couple. The company for which Hana Hajek’s works has been hit by fraud, and she has seven days before her visa expires. With no new opportunities on the horizon, Hana prepares to return home to Europe until an offer she cannot refuse comes from her brother’s teammate Aiden Barbeau. A marriage of convenience for visa purposes only, and after one year, they walk away but a Florida hurricane, and the search for a new home, pushes our couple closer together until a perceived betrayal has Aiden walking away without looking back.
The world building focuses on several pathways including a deadly storm, a personal revelation, and heart break for our story line heroine.
The relationship between Hana and Aiden begins as an arrangement in which neither is expecting more than the surface arrangement. Hana has lusted after Aiden for as long as she can remember but Aiden has loved and lost, and his secret may tear our couple apart. Aiden’s attitude towards Hana distressing-I think he should have been forced to grovel more. The $ex scenes are intimate and provocative but I dislike the use of a certain four-letter word, although only used once, more for shock value than anything else.
There is a large ensemble cast of familiar, energetic and encouraging secondary and supporting characters including many of the previous story line couples, and team players from the Lauderdale Knights: Wolf Bodilsen, Felix Lessard, Jordan Palmer; Vaughn and Juliet, Jude and Chloe, head coach Anatoli Petrov and his wife Tessa, Hana’s brother Johan and his wife Sloane are determined to protect our heroine when heart break ensues, and Anders and Claudia (Body Shot #8).
CLEAR SHOT is a story of secrets, perceived betrayal, family and friendships, forgiveness and love. The premise is heart breaking, edgy and captivating; the romance is seductive; the characters are charismatic, dynamic and magnetic.
We're back with the Lauderdale Knights and I couldn't be happier. CLEAR SHOT is a fake relationship, marriage of convenience, he falls first, teammate's sister, hockey romance which was emotional, sweet, and entertaining.
Hana Hajek was facing a dilemma, the software company she worked for had collapsed leaving her unemployed, which meant her work visa was about to expire and she had seven days in which to find a way to stay in the country. Hana didn't want to return home, she was happy in the USA. Aiden Barbeau is a professional hockey player and teammate to Hana's brother Johann. He overhears Johann mentioning Hana's predicament, and when several of his teammates offer to marry her Aiden steps up saying, "If Hana is going to marry anyone for a visa, it's going to be me".
Hana and Aiden had always been attracted to each other, but nothing ever happened between them, mainly because of Johann. When Hana agrees to Aiden's proposal of a marriage of convenience to help with her visa, neither expected that their attraction would turn into something more. They decide to see how their situation develops, turning fake into real, but then a hurricane arrives and strengthens their emotions. Aiden has trust issues and when an unexpected situation arises, he jumps to the wrong conclusion and tells Hana to leave as he can no longer trust her. Emotions are at boiling point, hearts are broken, will Aiden be able to fix the mess he made?
CLEAR SHOT was a wonderful story, I was held captive, it was both heart shattering and heart warming. The close group of friends were always in good and bad times, and the way in which they all pitched in and helped after the hurricane was incredible. Hana and Aiden were a relatable couple, I loved them both, Hana was strong, independent, and sweet, while Aiden continually made me sigh, his battle with depression was handle beautifully by Ms. Mizera. I can't wait for the final book in this series, Wild Shot, while it will be bittersweet saying goodbye to the Knights, I know Ms. Mizera will do it with a bang!
It’s always great to go back to the Knights world. “Clear Shot” is an emotional and sweet marriage of convenience hockey romance that was a good addition to the series.
Hana has been living and working in the US for a startup software company and she gets some horrible news. The company is shutting down because one of the partners has drained the accounts and fled the country. While most can bounce back and find a job, Hana is on a work visa and it will be invalid once the company closes. Her brother plays for the Knights and is shocked when the player she has had a crush on offers to marry her. Aiden vowed to never get married again but he wants to help Hana and knows he can keep feelings out of it. But as they spend time together, lines blur and feelings start to develop.
I love a marriage of convenience story, add some hockey in it and I’m happy. Hana is someone that I liked from the beginning. She’s smart, independent and wants to have a thriving career in software development. Getting married to stay in the US wasn’t her first idea and I loved that. Aiden was living the life of a hockey player with a thriving career and being able to do whatever he wanted. But he immediately stepped in to help Hana so she could stay in the US. The two had a connection and the chemistry got more intense as they spent time together and gave into the physical part of their relationship. Their communication skills need some work and I was a little disappointed on how Aiden reacted to finding out that Hana was pregnant. Aiden openly admits he suffers from depression but using that as an excuse isn’t always the answer. If I were Hana, I would have made him work a lot harder for redemption for their relationship. The ending was sweet and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
I just finished Clear Shot and wow—this hockey romance delivered so much more than the “marriage of convenience” trope promised. Aiden and Hana’s story kicks off with an agreement: fake marriage for her green card, zero strings, no feelings. Yeah, right. It’s a Kat Mizera book, so obviously things spiral fast (and deliciously).
Aiden is that perfect mix of tough pro athlete and soft-hearted hero. I couldn’t get enough of his struggle between keeping things casual and fighting for Hana when everything falls apart. Their chemistry stood out immediately—romantic tension, playful banter, and that spark that just grew as real life and real feelings crashed through their walls. Hana was a badass in her own right, navigating heartbreak, Visa drama, and family loyalty, all while holding her own against Florida hurricanes and the realities of falling in love unexpectedly.
I really appreciated the dual POV, letting me understand both sides as they went from “just a deal” to “fighting for everything.” The supporting cast brought all the found family and team vibes I love in sports romance, and the emotional growth felt earned. Occasionally, the plot packed in too many twists too quickly (hello, surprise pregnancy, betrayal, and a near break-up), but the ending tied things up in a way that left me smiling.
If you’re into marriage of convenience, hot hockey heroes, and stories about finding love, forgiveness, and family amid chaos, Clear Shot absolutely hits the mark. I’m already itching for the next Lauderdale Knights book!
This book takes us back to Fort Lauderdale and a new stage in the Knights romance. While Hana Hasek’s brother Johan plays for the Knights, she was in the US on her own accord, working for a start-up software company and proving how amazing she is. But as quick as it started, the software company crashes and that means Hana needs to go home to Slovakia. Or does she because when her brother mentions it to his teammates, several hands are raised with offers of marriage. One might be better than the others, Aiden Barbeau. He isn’t one to jump into marriage because he was burned hard before but for Hana, Aiden would do anything. There was no denying there had been a connection between the two of them from the start when they met, but now can they handle it with a marriage of convenience, or would it prove to be too much and push them apart? Especially when something unexpected happened, something neither one thought possible.
This is the 9th book in the Lauderdale Knights series and definitely not disappointing at all, it touches on a few subjects that have been brought up in people’s lives and deals with them head on. In true format several of the previous characters in Mizera’s books are brought back to live and in the plot. Can’t wait to see if we will be blessed with just one more in the series.
Thanks to Wildfire Marketing and the author for an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
Hana has been working for a startup software company when she gets told the company is folding and she's out of a job. Not a big deal unless you are living and working in the US on a work visa and now you will lose that. Her brother plays for the Knights and has been helping her but there's nothing he can do about this. When he happens to mention it to his teammates several offer to marry her but Aiden says no he will.
Aiden has been married and divorced before and swore he would never marry again, but when he hears about Hana he doesn't think twice about helping her out. They had met before and became friends and even though they have chemistry they didn't want to ruin their friendship so nothing ever happened between them.
They both went into this as a marriage of convenience but with certain things they wanted out of the marriage. The more they are around each other their feelings change and they decide to really give it a go until a situation happens and communication fails, and he tells her to leave.
4 stars This is an emotional story that deals with Aiden's depression and also trust issues. I loved the conversation between Remy, the team owner and Hana, so emotional. I thought it was great that the team was physically helping where they could after the hurricane happened.
*4,5 stars* This story just gripped me and had my emotions running high and low as I couldn't stop reading and also hoping for that happy ending. I loved the chemistry between Aiden & Hana but also with the side characters that gave a lot of heart to not only the characters but also the story. I definitely had some tears in my eyes as there were emotional scenes that really got to me; it had me in a rollercoaster of emotions. I had a good connection with both lead characters throughout the story. Even though it's the 9th book in the series; it definitely is one of my favorites so far.
Hana's world comes crumbling down around her as she loses her job and security but even though there's still a lot of uncertainty, her friends and brother rally around her. Aiden always had a crush on her but it never really went any further between them than just friendship; he tries to do whatever he can to help and makes her a suggestion that she just can't refuse. As they're navigating everything new, their bond grows stronger and the connection between them continues to grow. Even though both are loving their new life together, Aiden still has a few struggles of his own and when they get a surprise they didn't see coming, he'll have to figure out a way to deal with it or he might lose the one person he truly loves. Will they be okay in the end?...
Another fantastic book in the Lauderdale Knights series!
This story starts off with Hana suddenly losing her job due to crazy dramatic circumstances at her company. With the company’s closure her problems snowball with her also losing her work visa and ability to stay in the US. Aiden, teammate and friend of Johan, Hana’s brother insists if Hana is going to marry anyone for a visa it’s going to be him.
Aiden and Hana had friend zoned each other shortly after meeting a year ago because neither of them felt they were ready for a long term relationship and they felt they were just a ‘right person wrong time’. The attraction between them is intense, but they have so much to learn about each other and little time to adjust from being friends after a quick elopement. Their relationship has lots of bumps and obstacles, but the emotional connection between them isn’t in doubt. Aiden makes such and effort to be attentive and protective of Hana, but he’s far from perfect and when he stumbles - he really digs himself a deep hole.
I love the entire Lauderdale Knights family and the deep sense of family that has developed among the players and their significant others. This book had appearances by many of my favorite characters which was extra fun.
I received a free ARC from the author; and I am voluntarily leaving an unbiased review.
Hana thought she had the perfect job and her life was going great. She was preparing to go on a business when they called an emergency meeting. Only to find out the company is bankrupt. Not only is she losing her job, but she might be deported back to Slovakia. Until her brother’s team mate, the guy she has been having a crush on for a while, Aiden
Aiden is a pro hockey player with the Lauderdale knights. He hasn’t had the best upbringing, and he has some depression issues. But playing hockey helps him cope with his depression. He has been attracted to Hana since he met her. When she needs a little bit of help to stay in the country to find another job, he will be the only one who volunteers for this job…
I loved that these two were friends before anything else happened. And loved that they could talk about things. I felt that Aiden sold himself short and that he had so much more to offer than he thought. I loved how the author handled the whole story around his depression. I felt that these two were so good for each other and complimented each other very well.
Hana was strong, independent and had a soft and sweet side to her as well. Which is why I think they suited each other very well. Loved their story and loved all the characters who just added to the awesome story 😊
They thought they’d be better off as friends, except that the love has always been there. Even though they were holding back. Hana was afraid it would complicate things since her brother and Aiden were on the same hockey team. Aiden was married before and certainly doesn’t want to get married again, however when Hana lost her job because the business went under Aiden steps up and announces he will marry her so she can keep a visa and stay in the country while she looks for a job. From the beginning they both know they wouldn’t be able to hold back from each other, and that feelings would be involved however, Aiden made it clear right after they decided to give the marriage a real chance, that because of his mental illness of depression. He never wanted to have children of his own and he already had a vasectomy. Fast-forward a few months, Hana finds out she’s pregnant, and his first thought is his world is crumbling again, and that Hana cheated. Even though in his heart he can’t believe that’s true. I love the story and the ins and outs of how they find their way back to each other and at the end. how they decide they’re going love this baby. I absolutely adore everyone of the knight books of these strong hockey men. I can’t wait for the next one.
✨𝒯𝒽ℴ𝓊𝑔𝒽𝓉𝓈✨ 𝐈𝐧 𝐂𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐭, we follow Hana, who finds herself in a difficult situation after losing her job and visa. Desperate for a solution, she ends up marrying one of her brother's teammates.
𝐈 found this book to be a light and enjoyable read. When Hana and Aiden first crossed paths, there was a spark between them. However, they both decided to remain friends to avoid complicating their relationship. Their decision changed when they tied the knot, allowing their feelings to develop naturally.
𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 marriage of convenience turned out to be a sweet romance with some found family vibes which I adore in a story, especially when talking about hockey romance. The story also touched upon serious topics, such as depression, in a respectful and compassionate way. I appreciated how the author handled these sensitive topics with care.
𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐥, if you are looking for a sports romance with a marriage of convenience, then you’ll definitely enjoy this book! Thank you to the author and Wildfire Marketing Solutions for this ebook copy. All thoughts shared here are my own.
Aiden is a professional hockey player for the Fort Lauderdale Knights who had a rough childhood growing up surrounded by mental illness and suffering from his own bouts of depression. Hana is the little sister to Aiden's teammate, Johan. Johan paid for Hana to go to college at MIT. Aiden and Hana had a mutual attraction but decided not to act upon it and became good friends. When the startup company Hana is working for closes, she is left with only one option to stay in the States, marry one of Johan's teammates, and Aiden steps up to be the groom. Will Aiden and Hana be able to keep their feelings from growing as their physical relationship develops? How will Aiden react to the surprise news from Hana? Will Hana be able to forgive Aiden for his cruel words or accusations? Will Aiden finally go after what he wants with Hana? Will Aiden be able to win Hana back with his grand gesture before she leaves and goes home to Slovakia? I liked Clear Shot by Kat Mizera. Aiden and Hana are a great couple with fantastic chemistry but have issues with communication which can be frustrating at times. I love the Knights! I would recommend getting Clear Shot and the other books in Lauderdale Knights series by Kat Mizera. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Clear Shot is Aiden and Hana’s marriage of convenience, friends to lovers story and we are back in Fort Lauderdale with the Lauderdale Knights. This well written, entertaining and engaging story is book nine in the Lauderdale Knights Series. Hana is living her worst nightmare her job has gone and that means her work visa allowing her to stay in the States is about to be revoked. Her brother plays pro hockey for the Knights and when he is telling his teammates about her plight some one suggests a marriage of convenience and that’s all Aiden needs to find a reason to get close to the woman he has hidden his feelings from… What starts off as a marriage of convenience so becomes so much more but a surprise pregnancy throws a spanner in the works. So will Hana and Aiden get the HEA they both deserve. I loved everything about this book from the strong and sassy Hana to the witty banter and everything in between. I fell hard and fast for Aiden and I adored Hana but it was the team camaraderie that took this book to another level.
Another raw, emotional story by the talented Kat Mizera, Clear Shot (Book 9 in the Lauderdale Knights series) is every bit as mesmerizing as those that came before. Kat Mizera delivers Aiden’s story with such skill and heart that you feel every hesitation, every spark of chemistry, and every moment of growth right alongside the characters.
This marriage-of-convenience romance puts relationship-shy Aiden—one marriage down and in no rush for another—right in the middle of a situation he never saw coming. When his teammate’s sister, independent and determined Hana, faces the threat of deportation after her company folds, Aiden steps in with what he thinks is a simple solution: a no-harm, no-foul marriage, no feelings involved.
But the more time they spend together, the lines blur, the walls come down, and the passion ignites. Just as they begin to find their rhythm, Hana discovers she’s pregnant. Let’s be honest—Aiden could have handled that revelation better—but beneath his mistakes are his own scars and fears.
One thing is certain: he’s not letting Hana go without a fight. Now the question is—does Aiden have a clear shot at convincing her that she and their baby are worth fighting for?
Fast paced and attention grabbing! Mizera is delighting her fans by bringing to life the instant connection that we felt between Hana and Aiden back in her brother Johan's book with the next book in the Lauderdale Knights series. Each character has an interesting back story with bad luck and trauma taking center stage in the roadblocks they face. I always enjoy the group of teammates that step in with friendship and aid when needed in this series, and this book was particularly interesting because even the owner of the team had a presence. Well developed characters, real life problems and a satisfying happily ever after. Great series!
I really enjoyed Aiden as main character because he wasn't ashamed to talk about his issues and take the steps he needed to in order to address what he needed to feel secure.
I highly recommend this book as well as the entire series to anyone who enjoys a sexy hockey romance with a core group of teammates who always step up in support and camaraderie as one after another falls for their forever love while living the dream of pro hockey.
We enjoyed Aiden and Hana's story, particularly Hana's character. She was intelligent, charming, endearing, and had a vibrant personality when not consumed by worry.
Aiden, on the other hand, had his moments of goodness, but his actions and reactions often fell short for us. He made promises to himself about their relationship but failed to follow through, and his lack of action and tendency to make empty promises left us feeling disconnected from his character.
While we found him likable, we struggled to see him as truly lovable. Hana deserved better than empty words and unfulfilled promises.
For a couple who had an intense attraction and connection even before marriage, we didn't feel any of that, not even their chemistry. However, there were enough touching moments to outweigh the things we didn't like. The beautiful friendships and supportive family were heartwarming. We appreciated the honest portrayal of tough subjects like mental health struggles.
The ending brought a smile to our faces thanks to a couple of little old ladies. Fate works in mysterious ways.
Aiden plays for the Lauderdale Knights. Hana is the sister to Knights player Johan Hajek. Aiden and Hana know each other bt have placed each other in the friend zone due to their respective careers. However, things change. Hana is in the US on a work visa from Slovakia. When the tech start-up she works for closes abruptly, she is faced with having to leave the US in 7 days. When Aiden finds about the situation from his teammates during dinner after a game, he volunteers himself to marry Hana in a marriage of convenience so that she can get a visa.
The more time they spend together after the marriage, the more they realize that this might not be a marriage of convenience after all. Their story is an emotional one as Aiden having already been married before has trust issues. He also suffers from depression. Let's just say their road to forever is definitely not a smooth one.
I loved Hana and Aiden and was happy to see other characters in the Knights world in this story. I can't wait for more in the Lauderdale Knights world.
If you have not read the below, they are part of this series. If you like reading the series in order you should grab those books(s) first: Knight Before Christmas (Romancing the Rink #4; Lauderdale Knights #0) Slap Shot (Lauderdale Knights #1) Big Shot (Lauderdale Knights #2) Long Shot (Lauderdale Knights #3) Hot Shot (Lauderdale Knights #4) Sure Shot (Lauderdale Knights #5) Rough Shot (Lauderdale Knights #6) Shot at Love (Lauderdale Knights) Cheap Shot (Lauderdale Knights #7) Holiday Shot (Lauderdale Knights) Body Shot (Lauderdale Knights #8)
This is Hana and Aiden’s story. She needs a green card, and he steps up. After all they are friends. It should have been easy, they pretend and she gets what she needs to stay. All fake or so they thought. Both caught feelings. Now she wants to go home but she is not going alone she thinks she is taking his baby. He is having none of it. He wants her to stay and make it work. Can he convince her or will he just have to follow her? Can these two make it work? Or will they both be disappointed?
Clear Shot by Kat Mizera, book nine in the Lauderdale Knights series, is an emotional, heartwarming, sweet marriage of convenience hockey romance.
Hana is smart, independent and works for a startup software company when the company suddenly closes and her green card is in danger of being taken away. She would love to stay as her hockey playing brother, her niece, and her close friends are here; but getting married to stay in the US wasn’t her first idea.
Aiden enjoyed his life as a hockey player, the freedom it gave him; especially after the disaster of his first marriage. He vowed to never marry again, but when he’s hears about Hana’s situation he does not want her to leave: offering her a solution; he will marry her. Aiden truly believes he can keep his feelings out of it.
Hana and Aiden always knew they shared a connection. Sharing a bed only intensified the chemistry between them and it wasn’t long the lines blur and feelings start to develop. However, when Hana accidently gets pregnant, Aiden reaction was quite disappointing. Granted, Aiden suffers from depression, but that was not an excuse for his lack of trust in Hana. The grand gesture Aiden performs is nice and allows Hana to hear that he loves her and will trust her. I enjoyed this well layered read; especially between the close knit friend group, a little drama and falling in love when you least expect it. I can’t wait to see what is coming next in this series.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. #PlayDirty #katmizera #hockeyromance #wildfiremarketingsolution
Hana Hasek wasn’t expecting to lose her green card when the computer startup company that she worked for went under so she only has seven days to find a way to stay in the US. But one way is a temporary marriage of convenience to Aiden Barbeau, one of her brother Johan’s teammates (Cheap Shot - Lauderdale Knights Book 7).
Aiden Barbeau hadn’t intended to ever get married again but he knew that he wanted to be the one to marry Hana. But everything changes when they start to have feelings and Hana was pregnant even though he never intended to have children.
I love how Hana and Aiden had the help of the Lauderdale Knights family to help them figure out their future with a Clear Shot.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from the author and Wildfire Marketing. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Aiden and Hana have known each other for a while, there’s been chemistry, but they have decided to remain friends due to the fact that they didn’t want to muddy any relationships. When she faces deportation, he offers to marry her. They talk and decide that it will be a marriage in name only, but fighting the attraction is harder than they realize. I really enjoyed this book but found their lack of communication once they were married horrible.
They both had bigger feelings than they let on, yet didn’t truly trust the other one. When they did finally admit how they felt, I wish there would have been a bigger emphasis on his mental health, because I felt like they glossed over it and could have saved some heartbreak if they had. Overall, the relationship was nice and I liked all of the friend support throughout the book.
I received an ARC and this is my honest, voluntary review.
The opportunity to work in the US and be close to Johan, her brother who plays hockey for the Lauderdale Knights, is everything Hana could want. With her job in jeopardy it means she may have to return to Slovakia until Aiden offers to become her husband.
Aiden has been hurt in the past and never wanted to put himself in the same situation but what he shares with Hana is friendship and an arrangement. Their best laid plans take a turn when they not only have to face that the feelings between them extend beyond friendship but also the emotional scars of the past.
Hana is determined to make her own way and doesn’t want to depend on anyone and that holds especially true for Aiden so when he questions her character the turmoil escalates but once again the Knight’s family is there to help them find their way.
We have been teased with bits and pieces of Hana and Aiden's friendship in other stories in this series. I love that Aiden was so quick to come to the rescue even if he didn't want to admit what was the real driving force behind it. Hana seemed like a women who for once was allowing her heart to control her life which was something she had never done before. Watching Aiden realize that his childhood and past marriage does not dictate who he is as a man was really a eye opening experience. I love the support that the other couples gave them throughout the book showing that that they have truly become a family. Hana and Aiden overcame so many of their own demons and thoughts to become the couple that everyone saw them to be with a few fun twist in the mix.
This book had all my favorite tropes in a delicious package.
It’s no secret. I love Kat’s style, the realistic down to earth feel of her stories and the very useful life lessons Ibam left with after each enjoyable story. And this one is no exception from that .
Aiden offers to marry Hana to help her stay in the US. He may have offered as a friend, but there was always something there between them. They try to keep things in the friend zone, but it’s not long before the attraction can no longer be contained. And then the surprises keep coming.
It was also very eye-opening reading about Aiden’s lifelong struggle with depression .
I have received an ARC of this book and this is my voluntary and honest review.
It’s back to the Lauderdale Knights and readers will love the latest book. When friends who have resisted one another cross a line, even when it’s for a good reason, drama can show up too. When Hana needs help Aiden gives no thought to being the man to help her, but once they are together, all day everyday, they can no longer ignore the chemistry or connection they haven’t acted on. Building a marriage that didn’t start in the most traditional sense has its ups and downs, but when one of the biggest surprises comes along their world implodes, and friends who are like family, and a deep down love for one another is all that can save their marriage and their future together.
I’m sorry, I love this series. But to start with the first one in March, 2022 and not finish it until Feb, 2026 is beyond ridiculous. I started and stopped waiting for the rest to release. Had to re-read EVERYTHING to get back into the FL universe. I thought Aiden’s was the last one. Now I find out it’s Jordan who is bringing the finale. So frustrating that I have to wait until NEXT YEAR to finish it up. I don’t have the time to re-read anything. And I like to feel like I’m part of the movie as I watch it play out over the pages. Either make the characters unforgettable or don’t start your first release until your can release them all in a year. Don’t recommend these books unless the series is complete. Shame on u Kat
