Luke Weiss has been itching for a change in his life since his favorite sister met the man of her dreams, and while housesitting isn’t exactly exciting, the job comes with access to his sister’s sexy friend, Sheri. If ever there was a woman built to scratch a man’s itch, it’s Sheri, with her long legs and athletic abilities. Only convincing the auburn-haired beauty takes all of his charm and some full frontal nudity.
Sheri Green is used to being a guy’s girl, not a sex kitten, and she’s suspicious of Luke’s intentions. But after seeing more than one side of him, including the naked one, she figures there’s nothing wrong with taking advantage of a hot affair while he’s in town.
Only Luke decides he might want to stick around her smoky mountain town, and upsets the entire balance of their sex-only relationship. Suddenly there is nothing basic about this attraction…
USA Today and New York Times Bestselling author Erin McCarthy sold her first book in 2002 and has since written over a hundred novels and novellas in teen fiction, new adult, and adult romance. Erin has a special weakness for high-heeled boots, beaches and martinis. She lives in Ohio with her family, two grumpy cats and a socially awkward dog.
This story doesn't feel like it was written by Erin McCarthy. It has no heart. I didn't like the heroine and I thought the hero was better off without her. I gave it two stars because it wasn't so awful that I couldn't finish it. I don't recommend this one.
Contemporary romance with protected sex. The 2nd in a new series.
I was a sucker for this "Smokey Mountain" series. A new one by one of my favorite authors. I really like the Smokies & have been many times. I have to admit Pigeon Forge isn't a favorite place down in Tennessee. Too tourist trappy for me. Give me the National Park any day. Any way, I just couldn't click with the H/h. I kept visualizing Steve Irwin's wife, Teri (weird right?) as Sheri. Luke was a doofus. I think EM was going for charmingly goofy with this story, but I think it was just dumb. Too bad.
I totally agree with a previous reviewer who said this book doesn't feel like it was written by Erin McCarthy. I have read all her books and just adore her writing. This book lacked her humor, I only chuckled a couple times reading it, and it didn't have the sweet romance of her other books either. I thought the heroine was a bit of a twit. All in all, not my favorite book by Erin.
