To the outside world, Gregor Salvatore is the epitome of perfection—a respected professor with a face that makes hearts flutter. But by night, Gregor secretly transforms into the devilish MasterofArms69. His dual life remains hidden until Felix uncovers the truth.
Faced with a new dilemma, Gregor proposes a deal to Felix. As they explore their burgeoning connection, they find themselves navigating a complex interplay of personal desire and professional limits, only to realize that some secrets cannot remain hidden forever...
Teacher's Pet is a steamy, insta-lust, slow-burn MM Romance featuring a taboo relationship between a college student and his professor, and a HEA. Although it is the first book in a series, it can be read as a standalone. This book has sensitive themes and explicit content so please refer to the content warning at the beginning for more details.
WARNING: This book contains morally gray characters, including an alpha male type, and several incidents of power play. It is recommended for mature audiences (18+) only.
Diana Wolfe writes passionate MM romance featuring complex, damaged characters who are always deserving of their happily ever after. When she’s not lost in crafting her next swoon-worthy tale, you can find her immersed in video games, wandering through nature, or soaking up the sun at the beach—probably for a little too long.
Teacher’s Pet started off pretty interesting — student finds out his hot professor is also his fave sexy webcammer — but the story gets a little lost along the way.
It’s pretty spicy, but lacking any passion or connection between the MCs. The relationship feels a bit icky. It doesn’t even have that nice forbidden edge to it, just a professor who really wants to fuck one of his students. The writing style is very repetitive, all Master here and pet there, and don’t get me started on the fucking loins. 18 times is 17 times too many. The plot line is a very basic professor/student romance, with the typical angst of said romances. The ending was also rushed and unsatisfying.
There are so many amazing romances with these same tropes, and this one unfortunately was very bland and underwhelming.
I received a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews, and this is my honest review.
CW and tropes (spoilers): - Professor x student - Age gap (21 vs 29) - Dubcon? - Attempted SA & drugging (non-graphic) - Webcammer - Death of a spouse (off page) - Strict top/bottom - Virgin MC - Light BDSM - Light restraints - Light degradation - 69
The premise was interesting and I was excited to read this. Unfortunately, it felt rushed and ultimately was a bit disappointing for me. There wasn’t build up to them getting together, and while the spice was good, the interpersonal aspect fell flat. There were also inconsistencies. I did enjoy the overall story and plot.
I wanted to dnf this book at 35% but I forced myself to continue a little bit more to see if it'd get better. Unfortunately, it didn't.
I usually like forbidden romance and age gap, but this was just not it. The professor was just creepy af, the student didn't have any personality whatsoever and they become fuck buddies in like a second after they meet.
The dialogues felt so fake and forced, and the pace of the story was too fast. It was like "oh hi hello I'm your professor. Who cares about power dynamics. You're hot let's fuck" 🤨🤨
It's a shame because I really liked the premises of the story, since it reminded me of BJ Alex, but the execution wasn't great.
Teacher's Pet is the first book in the Behind Closed Doors series. This is the story of Felix a college student and Gregor his professor. I loved the characters and plot. This was so engaging and I loved all the twists and turns in it. I loved watching these two figure everything out. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.
A forbidden romance, because Gregor is Felix' professor and also Gregor has a secret sideline job. He wants to be anonymous and is still grieving from his past. Felix is not what he expected and after coming to his rescue he just can't stay away. There is turmoil, Gregor is trying to keep himself away from feelings and Felix is falling fast and wants more. There is a light D/s vibe, but this wasn't strong. The story mainly revolves around these two but there are a few extra characters. I never fully trusted Felix' friend, Mark. I felt I needed a bit more depth to figure out if he was genuinely concerned about Felix or jealous. Gregor never did meet him when he was with Felix so the stories told by Mark remained one sided. The epilogue leaves a HFN, with a slight feeling of uncertainty as location and jobs change and only a loose plan is discussed. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily
This is a forbidden, age-gap read. It is a Professor/Student read. It is a slow burn, insta-lust read.
Felix always makes sure that he watches his favorite webcam streamer. He doesn't like to miss when he is live. He ends up winning a private stream with him and was so excited about it. He never thought that he would actually meet him in person. When he finds out who the webcam streamer really is, he still doesn't let it stop him. He will agree to whatever terms as long as he can at least have one night.
Gregor didn't think he would ever have anyone figure out what his side gig was but it's to late now. He has a one night only rule with Felix however he decides that it isn't enough. He decides to make Felix an agreement.
These two have battles that they both most overcome and also reconnect. Felix feels way more than Gregor but it takes Gregor time with what he has been through. When a video comes out, it will be a test for both of them to see what happens next.
*I received an ARC through Gay Romance Reviews and this is my honest review.*
Personally I really enjoyed this book I am excited by the fact it is book 1 in the series. I hope there will be more. If it is these two great, if it is another couple ok as well.
Felix is a college senior who is just biding his time to get through his senior year. He happens to be gay and is a virgin. One treat he gives himself is paying to watch a webcam streamer, MasterofArms69. Occasionally he wins the weekly contest to receive 5 minutes of private time with Master. Felix knows a lot about the masked man, he has a tattoo with a name, he has a cat named Snow, and some artwork in the background. But knowing he can never have anything real with Master he agrees to go out on a date to a local bar. Things start great but when his date gives him a shot things go bad. Felix ends up feeling not so well and he runs for the restroom. When he bumps into someone and gets sick on them he is shocked to learn it is his Biology professor.
Gregor is a college professor, but he wants to earn more money so he also happens to be a streamer and master to a select few clients. He does everything online or by phone so he can keep his day job. For his videos he wears a mask and is very careful on any information he gives so as to not be caught. When at the bar he is run into by one of his students and realizes pretty quickly his student was probably drugged, when he offers him a ride home Felix passes out before he can tell him where he lives. Gregor does the only things he can think of taking him to his own house. Needing a shower to get what Felix threw up on him, Gregor takes a shower. But when he gets out of the shower he finds Felix in his gaming room holding his streaming mask and Felix asks him if he is MasterofArms69.
Will Gregor confess or does Felix have to work to get it out of him? Does Gregor recognize who Felix is? When he remembers the Felix had an unasked question he tries to get out of being found out but asking what his question is. But does Felix ask for too much? Does Felix lose his virginity? Can Felix help Gregor melt his frozen damaged heart? Will they decide to continue to carryon? Who catches them? Will Gregor lose his job? Will Felix get to graduate?
Again I think we need more to their story. I do think it is funny the number of times they "bumped" into each other it was meant to be.
Teacher’s Pet, a debut novel by Diana Wolfe, offers a taste of darker romance with a fresh, layered perspective on taboo themes, centered on the complex dynamics of a student-professor relationship. I was initially drawn to this book in search of a darker, edgy romance, and Wolfe delivers on that front—especially with the character depth and balanced power dynamics between the leads. It’s not just a student-professor romance; Gregor, the biology professor, also leads a double life as a web streamer. This dual role adds tension and a delicious layer of secrecy, especially as Felix, the student, could easily ruin Gregor’s career, while Gregor holds Felix’s academic success in his hands. The balanced power play is refreshing and well-crafted, keeping their connection intense yet unpredictable.
I also enjoyed how Teacher’s Pet introduced elements of BDSM, including pet play, in a way that felt approachable yet enticing, making it ideal for readers new to these themes. Mark, Felix’s friend, added comic relief with his ready-to-help attitude, especially when situations grew intense. And Gregor’s struggle with the memory of his ex-husband Stephan’s ghost brought depth and complexity to his character, showcasing the difficulty of moving beyond grief. Meanwhile, Rochelle plays the perfect antagonist, adding tension to an already complex web of emotions.
While I enjoyed the plot and the morally gray layers to each character, the first-person, present-tense style was a little challenging and might be more engaging in past tense. However, the compelling storyline and rich character dynamics make this book one I'd recommend to fans of taboo romances with well-executed, complex power dynamics.
Teacher’s Pet is a story that instantly grabbed my attention. I love forbidden romances and the promise of angst that comes with them, and Teacher’s Pet offered an additional twist that I have not seen combined with this trope before. Thus, I went in with high hopes.
While the bones of a good story existed within the pages, it was difficult to connect due to the speed at which things moved. The reason I love forbidden romances is due to the push-and-pull, the slowly giving in, yet this was non-existent in Teacher’s Pet. Statements were made about how it could not happen because of the consequences, yet there was never any build up to anything happening. People gave in far too quickly and easily to everything, which made their characters inconsistent, and this prevented me from enjoying the unfolding story. I kept waiting for something to pull me in deeper, yet the speed made it impossible for me to connect with anything as the opportunity was never given.
All in all, there was an interesting mix of ideas within the story. Unfortunately, for me, it unfolded much too quickly for me to enjoy what was happening.
In Teacher's Pet, protagonist Felix Underwood's surprise at learning that his new professor is also his favorite webcam streamer sets the plot in motion. To ensure Felix's safety after a turbulent night at the pub, Professor Salvatore brings him to his home. On the other hand, Felix ends up desiring more time with his professor and the professor makes a pact to avoid any romantic sentiments. The book's premise was there, and I enjoyed bothcharacters.Although I did review an advanced copy, and some of the issues may have been fixed in the final print version, I still thought the tale was flawed and unappealing. A little more tension between our two protagonists would have been nice. I felt like we didn't get enough of Gregor's struggle to overcome the grief of a broken relationship and find love again, and I wanted Felix to battle harder for his love. I believe this author is making progress, and I eagerly await their future works; but, I do think their characters might use some more development to become more courageous.I received a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews, and this is my honest review.
Teacher's Pet introduces us to the Behind Closed Doors series with an addictive and deeply layered story that centres on Felix, a spirited college student, and Gregor, his enigmatic professor. The chemistry between them is electric, pulling you into a captivating and forbidden romance that unfolds with tension, passion, and just the right amount of angst.
The characters are richly developed, and I loved seeing Felix and Gregor navigate the complexities of their relationship. Both characters feel real, with personal struggles and desires that add depth to their personalities. The plot itself is full of engaging twists and turns, making the stakes feel real and the outcome uncertain—a quality that keeps the pages turning. Watching Felix and Gregor attempt to reconcile their growing connection with the obstacles between them was both heartbreaking and exhilarating.
I’m already anticipating the next instalment in the Behind Closed Doors series. If you’re a fan of forbidden romances with complex characters and an intense storyline, Teacher’s Pet is an absolute must-read. This book leaves you eager for more, promising even greater depth and intrigue in what’s to come.
Felix discovers Gregor, his new biology professor, is also his favorite webcam streamer. Gregor, hoping to keep his second job a secret, offers proposed a deal that should benefit them both. Along the way, the two begin to realize that the chemistry between them may be more than just physical.
The first 75% or so of this book was decent, full of several hot scenes between Felix and Gregor. I felt some degree of sympathy for both characters, especially Felix. Unfortunately, they both excel in making dumb choices time and time again. The further into the book I got, the more I found myself shaking my head at the unfolding events. They became a little less likeable for me by the end of the story, as did Felix's friend Mark and Felix's dad (though I never particularly cared for him).
My two biggest complaints, though, were the editing and the ending. I've only read an ARC of this, but there were numerous errors that I found distracting. The last 15-20% of the book felt extremely rushed and a bit unsatisfying. The book had a good start and lots of potential that was never fully reached.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
1. There is definitely a taboo element. Not just the teacher/student dynamic, but the whole BDSM vibe.
2. The description of Gregor's agony and sorrow over the loss of his husband is really beautifully written.
3. The addition of a villain adds some depth to the story.
What I didn't like/enjoy:
1. This story is written in the present tense, which, for me, was a little jarring. Most stories are written in the past tense.
2. Gregor is a much more developed character than Felix. Felix just frustrated me. He falls into the stock character of a virgin who has no idea of his attractiveness (just like any heroine in a historical romance!). He starts off as a shy, unmotivated, directionless wraith, and by the end he is still a shy, unmotivated, directionless wraith who has found his perfect mate. All the growth is Gregor's. He is the one deeply changed for the better.
Despite these frustrations, this book has some wonderfully written parts, both sexy and not sexy. I'll remember Gregor, not Felix.

Teacher's Pet follows student Felix Underwood finding out his new professor happens to be his favorite webcam streamer. After a rough night at a bar, Professor Salvatore takes Felix to his home to make sure he is safe. However, that ends with Felix wanting more of his professor and the professor striking a deal to keep feelings from happening.
I liked both characters and the premise of the book was there. While I did read an ARC and scenarios may have corrected in the published edition, I found there were many inconsistencies that took away the shine of the story. I wish there would have been a bit more of the push and pull between our two main characters. I wanted Felix to put in more of a fight for his love and I felt we didn't see enough of Gregor's pain of healing from a fallen love and trying to move past to love again.
I look forward to more from this author as I think they are on the right path, but still need more polishing to make the characters bolder.
I had a hard time getting into this book and connecting with the characters. Gregor seemed very cold to me, understandable in a way with his past relationship the more that was revealed, but he did seem to warm up some as time passed. Felix was more two sided, I thought, his normal persona when he was in everyday mode and the one he had when Gregor was Master. Both characters were very complex and multi-faceted, I had a hard time really getting a sense of who they were and deciding if I would like them as friends or acquaintances. The student-teacher connection was complicating enough, even without the webcamming to create its own potential problems. Nevertheless, the situation was engaging enough to get me through the book and to what I feel was a HFN rather than a HEA—I think that would remain to be seen in time. If the situation intrigues you, this may be a book to draw you in more than it did me, but as a story, it was interesting, with a couple of twists. I received a copy of the book and this is my voluntary review.
This is professor x student to more romance, featuring Felix and Gregor, and is book one in the Behind Closed Doors series.
This book is a slow burn and a little angsty. Gregor is suffering with the loss of his husband and there is a fair bit of hurt / comfort / dealing with grief and it pushes Gregor to distance himself emotionally from Felix and everyone else in his life. I had to put the book down a few times because I was so frustrated with these two trying to keep everything physical only. My poor romantic heart needed the feelings to come out.
I really liked Felix’s dad, he was also going through hard times but was still there for his son.
Gregor and Felix eventually get their hard fought for HEA.
This is the first book published by Diana Wolfe.
Things to expect in this MM romance are: 1st book in series MM College romance Professor x student Small age gap (29/21) Camboy MC x Virgin MC Red hair MC Hurt / Comfort Slow burn Dealing with grief Secret relationship Bit of angst, drama & spice 3rd act breakup Finally catches feelings Hard fought HEA
As a big fan of MM romance novels, I was genuinely excited to delve into this book after reading its synopsis. It caught my attention right away, especially the taboo relationship between a professor and his student.
Adding another layer of complexity was the fact that the professor also engages in webcam work, a detail that introduced an exciting yet unconventional element to the story. It promised to provide a unique exploration of intimacy in both personal and professional spheres. Nevertheless, as I progressed through the narrative, I couldn't help but feel that the emotional connection between the two main characters was somewhat lacking.
While the steamy scenes were well-executed and certainly kept me engaged, I found that the overarching plot left me wanting more. I had anticipated a better development of the characters' relationship. Ultimately, while I appreciated the moments of heat and passion, the story felt somewhat unbalanced, with the relationship dynamics not fully realized.
I really wanted to love this book. It has all the elements that usually draw me in; taboo/forbidden, camming, secret ID, BDSM elements, broken man finding HEA. All of these things were there, and the story DID draw me in. This author's writing style, while some is smooth, flows well, easy to read - this one felt a bit stilted, choppy; it took almost half the book to get acclimated comfortably and read through more smoothly. While I liked the story, plot, and some characters, I never really connected with Gregor until the last chapters & I really didn't like him or his treatment of Felix. As for the storyline; I'm glad Felix finally stood up for what he deserved, though I definitely would've made Gregor grovel or do a little more - it shouldn't have been so easy & swift. Also, the "bad guy" gets away with it, nothing more's said, that didn't sit well with me AT ALL. I very much liked the meat of this story, I only wish it'd been filled out a bit more in some aspects.
The premise of this book was super interesting to me, with a good twist on the student/professor trope. Felix's professor is also his favourite Dom Spicy worker. As someone in the community, I never expect too much when I read books with any D/s dynamic involved. I liked Teacher's Pet but there were a few things that bothered me
1. Gregor's Master persona felt up and down - what I mean by that is that when he was in Domspace it felt unnatural, like something he only did for a work gimmick (which is fine) if he didn't slip into that space to have interactions with Felix later on in the book
2. The overuse of the word pet, a few times is realistic but after almost every piece of dialogue it loses its shine
3. The way Felix and Gregor's relationship came out, I feel like it could have been done better plot-wise
Overall I didn't hate this book at all but the issues I did have with it were a little too much for me to ignore
I just finished Teacher’s Pet by Diana Wolfe and… I’M DONE FOR! WHAT A BOOK!!! I completely fell head over heels for the characters, like, FOR REAL! Felix is my baby now — someone please protect that little redhead at all costs! And Gregor??? THAT PROFESSOR? That man should be illegal 😩
It starts off like “huh, what’s going on here?”, and next thing I know, I’m full fangirl mode over every single glance between them. The spicy scenes? Lord have mercy. I was on FIRE. But the best part? It’s not just smut — there’s real emotional depth, and the way their traumas and desires are explored?? CHEF’S KISS 🫠
AND THAT PLOT TWIST? When I realized who was who, I almost dropped my phone. And the writing? So smooth. I flew through it like an addict, page after page, couldn’t stop.
I laughed, I cried, I got nervous, I wanted to slap some characters and hug others. Diana, girl, you DID THAT!
A new to me author who writes one of my favourite tropes but was a bit disappointed…
The premise of the book was good, the characters engaging and the storyline was interesting but:
There was no chemistry between Felix and his professor IRL it felt forced and coerced when Gregor aka masterofArms69 texted him for a booty call because that is all it was to him but…
Felix caught feelings and knew he had to stop seeing his professor but couldn’t until a jealous student caught on to what was happening…
Will Gregor ever get over his deceased husband and move on?…
Will Felix stand just being a booty call or will he turn the tables on Gregor?…
I would read the second book if it is about Mark- Felix’s best friend…
I voluntarily received an ARC from GRR for an honest review.
Felix has a thing for his favorite webcam steamer and he wants to see him as often as possible. Imagine finding out that this mysterious guy that turns him and turns him out across the net is actually his biology professor. When he finds out he wants more but his professor, Gregor, thinks it wise to keep some emotional distance as they are already in forbidden territory being teacher and student. You can make all the rules you want but where there is chemistry and a growing connection there is bound to be complications. The premise for this was so interesting and it was interesting watching these two walk many different lines along the way. The pull and the push between them and waiting to see where they would end up keep me reading to the end. 3.5 stars . I received an ARC from GRR and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This one was a struggle for me. I didn't really connect or care for either of the main characters. The storyline could have been better if it would have moved at a faster pace. Maybe it just seemed slow to me. Also, I don't normally knock on ARCs about typos because I know sometimes these aren't the final versions of the books but the typos were a huge problem in this book. They took away from the enjoyment as well. A lot of inconsistencies in the story as well and even one instance of the wrong pronoun being used. So all in all, this just didn't work for me and I'm not sure I will read from the author again.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Wonderful, complex characters do extremely dumb things. That is the brief synopsis of this book. The minute Gregor makes his offer to Felix, we know there is heartbreak ahead, and we can only hope for the happy ending they deserve. And it almost doesn't happen. Thankfully, this is a romance and not the first half of a duet. There is a lot of explicit material here, so if you don't like that, this book is not for you. There is also tenderness, grief and love, which makes us love these guys and want the best for them. Despite the unlikely scenarios, we fall into this world and go along for the ride. I enjoyed how the details of their lives are slowly revealed to us as the characters learn about each other.
I received an ARC for free and left this review voluntarily.
Behind closed doors, Gregor Salvatore is a steamy webcammer looking to make some extra money. In his day-to-day life he is one of many professors that teach Felix Underwood at a local college. As you read you begin to uncover more information about these complex characters that take you through twists and turns you don't necessarily expect. I found myself audibly gasping at times as Felix and his Professor navigate their secret world together. This story played with my emotions until I was begging for a happy ending. This book is easy to read and flows well with a great storyline. I look forward to the next book! I thoroughly recommend it to anyone who likes this genre. Happy reading.
While this book might not be for everyone, it was of me I enjoyed reading it and loved the secret lives the main characters were living. Seems that respected professor Gregory has one life during the day but at night becomes a webcam star and life gets complicated when his student Felix discovers the truth. Thus starts a secret relationship. Be prepared for much explicit content but also some emotions and slowing developing love story among these two. I will admit I was not sure where it was headed but thank goodness these two did find their HEA. I am excited about reading book two. I did receive an ARC and leave this honest review.
Thank you to the author and publisher for my honest review of this ARC. I wanted to love this, age gap, taboo, student teacher, web cam it had it all. But it fell flat. It was boring for me. I finished it there was potential for this to be great but it wasn’t for me. I did enjoy it the spice was def spicing. But the romance was boring. Felix was so sweet and endearing and Gregor had this tragic past but Gregor didn’t hold up. I loved Felix and felt he actually could have done better. The ending felt rushed as well. I’m really happy for those that loved it but this was not the love fore me. It was just an ok read. Felix was a doll.
A very emotional and impactful read. What started out on a whim with some sexual chemistry blew up to maximum proportions. Nothing that Gregor did was illegal , as I understand it. I think Gregor was an innocent victim of a jealous malicious female student. I empathized with his plight. The angst and chemistry between Gregor and Felix had me squirming in my sear. In the end , the heart wants what the heart wants! Some things weren't extremely kosher, but no harm no foul except to Gregor. Two people in love shouldn't have to answer to anyone for their love. This was a real heart tugger. I voluntarily read a free copy of this book provided by book sirens and am giving an honest opinion.
Teacher's Pet is my first read by this new author to me. I felt that overall it was a good series starter but did take me a while to bond with the characters and story. A complex forbidden romance storyline that follows Gregor who is a professor and Felix his student. The chemistry between them was strong and this certainly makes it easier to follow their relationship development as they overcome all the issues and obstacles in their way. The storyline had plenty of twists and turns that helped you stay engrossed until the end. I enjoyed it enough that I am looking forward to the next in this Behind Closed Doors series. I received a free arc copy and this is my honest review
