Who this book is for
This book is a comprehensive introduction to web prototyping with Bootstrap 3. It is aimed for novice web designers and developers.
Beginning with the basics of Front – End Frameworks, Going all round the way in and around Carousels, Nested Grids with Bootstrap and finally converging on Modal Windows and Forms, the contents of the book take you on a whirl spin ride into the world of building web pages using Bootstrap and successfully educate you with a striking and positive resonance to the subject.
The author seems to have many successful well-structured adventures working with Bootstrap and coding webpages out of ideas. For being extra communicative and capture the readers’ points of interests, the book has been simulated using CodePen, a forerunner in the areas of playgrounds for front end sides of the web. CodePen makes it quite simple for the readers or the novice web designers to understand the codes used for proper simulation and maintenance of high profile, technologically sound, modern day websites.
However, a thorough knowledge of HTML, CSS and JAVA Scripts is of utmost importance prior to going for this particular book. Without an understanding of the above mentioned concepts going into the depths of web prototyping with Bootstrap and this book is a sincere waste of time.
A heavenly alternative for people who are unable to put two and two together and get what the online documentations provided by Bootstrap aims at, this book and its author help you get the basics and work your way coding and designing your very own professional and high profile websites through web prototyping.
Boostrap 3 is highly technical and can cause a lot of frustration unless you have a clear and precise know-how of its implementation. This book takes an in-depth look at Twitter Bootstrap - one of the most widely used frameworks in the web industry.
Ryan Flores teaches us the features and benefits of Bootstrap then teachers readers the necessary skills that are needed to master this process. In addition, Flores also teaches us all about types of frameworks and their benefits, along with giving us a brief Bookstrap 101 lesson.
I personally have a good grip on HTML/CSS and JavaScript which helped, but the author took me in detail around some of the hang-ups that I was having with Bootstrap - including the use of the grid system, building a fixed navigational bar, and drop-down menus.
This book is well-written, well-researched, and it comes from the years of experience that Ryan Flores has. You can tell that the author is very well educated - it comes out in this book.
Getting Started with Bootstrap 3 is an excellent book for anybody that is looking to take their talents to the next level.
This is a very impressive book on Bootstrap. I'm reviewing this from a beginner's point of view and it was extremely helpful to me as a new learner. The book is written in a easy to understand style and the screenshots are clear and I was able to see them clearly on my Kindle. This book was perfect for me. I feel like I'm ready to start a new project. It's clear, concise and contains clear great examples.
I would recommend this book to any reader looking for help with Bootstrap. There screenshots, examples, and technical explanations are very helpful.
A good introduction to Bootstrap 3 but way shallower than I was expecting (even for a "Getting started" book). It walks you through the development of a very simple page using a few of Bootstrap's features, just telling you what to do to get exactly the result expected by the author. There's no explanation about the features used nor any reference to possible ways to customize them for your needs.
On the bright side, the approach used by the author was interesting, showing step-by-step how a very simple markup becomes an interesting and well organized page (the HTML snippets could be shorter or less frequent, though).
I've got to say that I was somewhat disappointed by this book.
This book is just what I needed in face of Google's mobile algorithm change. He walks through a set example, adding on tags to the code framework as the book progresses. By the end I proudly have a functioning mobile website and a much better grasp on the bootstrap framework. Woo Hoo!
Provides a good albeit superficial overview about the Bootstrap framework. Well written, besides a few typos. Basic knowledge about CSS and HTML necessary. I like the practical approach, which enables you to build a responsive page with JQuery functionalities. Keeps what it promises.
