Ara Revenge was meant to be sweet. Instead, I’ve drawn the attention of a monster. I’m at his mercy. He knows my secret. But only part of it. Time is ticking, and only one of us is going to walk out of this alive.
Luca Ara is my stalker, but I’ve become obsessed. She has more curves and beauty than she has a right to. I’m going to break her. I want to cut open and figure out that brilliant mind of hers. Especially when I suspect she’s trying to underhand everything I’ve built.

I've read many stalker romances but this 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗲𝗿 × 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗲𝗿 trope was definitely a first! Both of them are stalkers. Hysterical, isn't it?
➳ Arabella Barone is the most sharp-witted, machiavellian and devious woman who wouldn't hesitate to destroy anyone standing in her way. She acts as the flawless CEO during the day but is just as cunning to achieve her end goal by seeking revenge for what led to her traumatic childhood. Hidden behind her own agenda, her first step starts with stalking the most deranged head of NY mafia Luca!
➳ Luca Armani is indeed conniving, demented and manipulative being who's instantly obsessed with his "little stalker" and returns the favour by reversing her antics and stalking her instead. Despite knowing she's after his family for vengeance, he has every reason to end her but he couldn't exactly put his fingers on why he hasn't already.
The plot execution was great but if it wasn't for the writing being slightly solecistic and the ending being unduly instantaneous, my ratings would've increased! I enjoyed it nevertheless!🫶🏻 ════ ⋆★⋆ ════ 𝑷𝒓𝒆-𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒅 : She stalks him. Just three words and I'm already diving into this dark stalker romance!
3.8/5⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3.5/5🌶️🌶️🌶️ (I had a hard time rating this book because I was OBSESSED, but if I analyze it, it is a 3.8 but in my mind I’ll just think of it as a 4⭐️😭)
Tropes: -Enemies to Lovers -Stalker x Stalker -Touch Her and Die -He Falls First -Obsessed MMC -Dark Mafia Romance
My Thoughts: This book had me obsessed from the beginning till end. I could not put this book down, I would say ”one more chapter” and next thing I knew it was two in the morning😭 I know I was really into the book when I couldn’t wait to go to bed to read it. I think it had to do with the fact that I haven’t read a dark mafia romance in a while and they’re my kryptonite. This was my first time reading a stalker romance which I was nervous to get into but I really enjoyed it.
FMC: Arabella Barone Homegirl was a socialite by day and stalker by night. She played that off a little too well😂 Ara was a strong ass female character. I really liked how she stood up for herself against Luca and her own father when they tried to control her. She really advocated for herself and never let a man dim her light. I had never read about a female character who had morally grey tendencies so that was quite a surprise but a good one. I thought it was really interesting how her past gave her a lot of trust issues, so while she was falling for Luca she couldn’t truly trust herself or him. She was a really determined and stubborn FMC. She had a plan and she was going to execute it even if she died or lost Luca in the process. In this book she was acting like the usual man who pushes their partner away when things become too real😂 To her credit, she didn’t have good relationship role models to look up to. Although she didn’t grow up violent world of the mafia, she never tried to change Luca. She knew who he was and although she didn’t like or agree with some of his things, she accepted him, understood him, and cared for him when he needed it.
MMC: Luca Armani Mr. Armani was so morally grey I was questioning my own thoughts. I giggled every time he said something remotely unhinged. I honestly enjoyed his character and the background of why he was so emotionally cold and tough. It was interesting seeing his thought process when he was starting to have feelings for her. How his subconscious would betray him and he would catch himself falling for her. It gave him a human aspect to that cold mafia boss he was portrayed to be. I enjoyed how funny he was and his banter with Arabella. He was HELLA sarcastic, if he wasn’t in the mafia business he could make it as a comedian😂 I honestly liked how obsessed he was with her and how clearly he wanted her even when he tried to fight himself. One part I really enjoyed was further into the book when he had had a really tough day, he unconsciously sought her out for comfort. A relationship that started off as enemies with physical intimacy, turned into a relationship where they truly understood each other and knew each other better than themselves. Let’s talk about how this man turned out to be a better stalker than her, I mean granted he did have more resources but he was all up in her business ALL THE TIME😫 he had six cameras in her apartment not including the one he put in her companies office😀 The only thing I didn’t love was how he called Arabella a whore outside of the bedroom, once or twice was tolerable but more than that I found it distasteful (he didn’t call her it all the time). I understood why he called her that at the time since he was trying to put her in her “place” and be emotionally detached but still.
Arabella & Luca as a Couple: They are the most unhinged couple. It was truly an enemies to lovers. Did they start hooking up early on? Yes, but they HATED each other. The text messages and gifts Luca would send truly made them as a couple. They complemented each other with their banter, sarcasm and aggressiveness towards each other. As we got further on Luca became more overbearing and possessive but that’s when you saw how he was falling for her. Plus the best part was he fell first and was the first to break and want to turn their relationship into the real deal. Luca was so intelligent and always two steps ahead of Ara. I liked how he understood what her thought process was with her “revenge plan” and how he let her have the closure that she needed with her mom’s death. He was selfless with her in that aspect.
Fav Quotes: “Anything this woman is and has I want. I’ll make every part of her mine to break. I will uncover every inch of her inside and out.”
“Yet I am transfixed. Knowing full well she is chaos in a bottle. One I seem happy to be sipping from daily.”
“I don’t know what it is about you, Arabella Barone, but you are devouring my every thought.”
“Until death do us part, my little stalker. You won’t be getting rid of me that easily.”

It starts off as our FMC infiltrates the mansion of a mafia boss brother, she believes all her intel and research is spot on, until it isn’t and she is caught by the underworlds big boss 😬 our MMC. He has her escorted off the premises but it opens a whole world for both of them.
Their stories intertwine, he just stalks her constantly, she bites back, there’s back n forth, lots of smexy times, revenge is pertinent for her and he finds out it’s he same for him for different reasons.
Arabella was unique and interesting because she herself was kind of morally grey, and she made no apologies for it! Again a strong female character which I loved very much.
Luca is dark, controlling and very possessive of Arabella even though she wants to destroy him.
The fact that they had this rollercoaster relationship was too enticing and I was engrossed in it. Their bickering, their back and forth was fun. Smut was top notch.
Insidious Obsession by Kia Carrington is a dark romance novel. It is also a mafia and an enemies to lovers romance novel as well. This book is exciting from beginning to end with lots of twists and turns. Ava and Luca our main characters, they have some spicy chemistry and that combined with their constant banter adds to the excitement. Ava’s main goal is to find out more about Luca‘s family but will she lose her heart to him. This book was really good and I can not wait to read more by Kia Carrington.
My first solo book by the author and I'll just add an additional star to my rating because while the ending was a little abrupt, I fell too much in love with Mr. Armani not to give this book 5 stars.
Arabella is a very bright, clever, almost cunning woman. From the age of twelve, she's been focused on nothing else but getting revenge on her mother's murderer. She plays the part of a successful businesswoman, good friend and socialite, and dutiful daughter perfectly. But what she does in her free time is destroy the people who stand in her way and stalk the Armani mafia family now that she's close to her end goal. That's how she ends up in their mansion looking for someone very specific, but who she finds is Luca, the head of the family aaand a gun to her head. Luca is relentless, ruthless, and violent. Not killing Ara on the spot is so very unlike him. But there's something about her and since she can't be connected to his business or any of his enemies, he has to figure out what her angle is.
I loved the dynamics between Luca and Ara, his soft spot for her and only her, and that she was no doormat heroine, even though I wished she admitted her feelings a little sooner, at least to herself.
I'm definitely going to read any other books set in this world!
She might be plotting to infiltrate the mafia for revenge of her own, but never thought she’d end up catching the eye of Luca. He’s head of the mafia, but he seems to have developed a soft spot for her, which confuses them both. .
I absolutely LOVED this book, I’m always down for a good mafia romance! I did love seeing a strong FMC with her own agenda in this book! Ara’s character was written so well and I loved how she does start to open up to Luca as they become more familiar with each other. The banter between the two of them and the spice is perfection.
Thank you to Kia Carrington-Russell for the chance to read/review an early copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
It is set to release May 25th and you don’t want to miss it if you enjoy mafia romances!
Wow! This book had me from the beginning! I love that you get stalker vibes but from the female role! I didn't want to put the book down. Anything enemies to loves or mafia is up my ally! Highly recommended from my perspective!
This man hit the uno reverse card quick as hell, and I honestly loved it🤣
A true mafia man🫠🫠
Luca and Ara are like magnets, instantly drawn to each other from the day she decided invade his space. The banter and the playfulness back and forth is what I loved the most with this story! Ara gave it right back to Luca and I was livinggg🤭
Luca’s obsession with Ara and to learn everything about her shows how dedicated to the cause he truly is. The things he’s willing to sacrifice and the tasks he’s willing to do is what cause so much heat to build between the 2! & when we got those moments, it was so worth it🥵
Luca Armani is the head of the NY Mafia and Arabella “Ara” Barone wants vengeance on his family. She is manipulating her way into the fold but why? Can she find what she is looking for? This action packed suspense keeps you interested from the very first chapter. Ara is such a strong heroine and I loved every minute! Luca is the perfect match for her in this enemies to lovers, mafia romance. Their push and pull sizzles off the pages! An ideal mix of mystery, action, violence and steam. This little stalker is about to meet her match. Told in first person and dual POV
This is Kia’s first solo author debut and my brain is fried.
What happens when the stalker becomes the stalked? This book is packed with angst, violence, suspense, action and so much fucking excitement, not to mention the spice. 🤌✨
This author has smashed this dark mafia romance. Ara and luca are very well written characters, I devoured this story in a day I couldn't put it down from the second chapter. Highly recommended
First off the fact that the FMC (Arabella) was stalking the MMC (Luca) and then she gets caught😱 but for Luca to turn around and then do the same to her was hilarious. I loved Ara and how she would not stop for anyone or anything to get her revenge, even if it meant stalking and breaking into the mafia boss’s family mansion. A badass FMC is my favorite👌🏻 But Luca😮💨 that man and his devilish ways had me sucked in. I couldn’t get enough of him and his filthy mouth. I loved how he was so hell bent on ruining Ara but couldn’t get enough of her. The banter between these two was everything! I love how he is an asshole but in a charming way (to Ara at least) and she was a defiant little sassy mouth with Luca even if it meant he could kill her at any moment. The relationship between these who was so amusing, I loved how they kept playing at being enemies but were really into each other, and very attracted to each other, especially Ara who kept denying her feelings from the start. The spice in this books was phenomenal😮💨 I couldn’t get enough of Luca and him calling her “good girl” —it was my favorite🤭 I loved the plot in this book and was stunned when I found out what actually happened all those years ago that shaped Ara into the calculated, manipulating woman she is today. The fact that Luca was so set on killing her because of her stalking and defiant ways but was so protective of her made me love him even more☺️ we love a bad mafia man who is down bad for his girl😏 I suggest anyone who loves a good mafia romance book with enemies to lovers, stalking, great banter and amazing spice to give this a read! You won’t regret it!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 - Insidious obsession by Kia Carrington-Russell 📚
If you love an insane, possessive Mafia man and a strong, badass FMC… this book is for you.
Luca and Ara are as crazy as each other and fit perfectly together. Ara is set on revenge and in doing so needs to find answers within the Mafia. I absolutely LOVE a strong FMC with a backbone and Ara was just that. They are both stalkers which is HILARIOUS. The banter these two shared had me laughing out loud at points and the obsession/disgust of twinkies (I’ve never tried one so I don’t know what the hype/disgust is about😂)
Luca, our insane Mafia man, tried so hard not to fall but ended up falling flat on his face for Ara and it was so satisfying especially after he said quote: “I don’t do love.”
The spice was hot 🥵 let’s just say these two did NOT lack chemistry.
I really enjoyed this book and have re-read since!!!
This book took me so long to read. The plot wasn’t that interesting. The fact that the FMC’s friends were really not her friends because they didn’t truly knew her threw me off a lot.
The plot was not interesting to me and I felt like the ending was rushed.
Thank you to Kia Carrington-Russell for sending me an ARC! Insidious Obsession is Kia Carrington-Russell’s solo author debut. I had no idea what to expect going into this book. I've read The Lethal Vows-Series which was written by her and T.L. Smith and LOVED it, so it should come to no surprise that I also loved Insidious Obsession. It is a dark and enthralling romance that delves deep into the perilous world of the New York mafia. At its core is Ara, a relentless woman driven by the desire to avenge her mother’s death. Her target is the infamous Luca Armani, a mafia boss whose reputation for cruelty and power precedes him.
Ara's quest for vengeance sets her on a dangerous path, one where she meticulously stalks the Armani family. However, as the narrative unfolds, the dynamics shift dramatically. Luca, ever the perceptive and ruthless kingpin flips the script, turning her from the predator into the prey.
Ara stands out as a formidable protagonist, characterized by her unwavering determination and bravery. She refuses to be cowed by Luca or any of the powerful men in her path, making her a refreshing and compelling character in the dark romance genre. Her strength and resilience are central to the story, providing a strong counterbalance to Luca’s menacing charm and dominance. Ara might also be the only person in the world to dare talk back to Luca and stand up against him.
Luca Armani is portrayed with a perfect blend of danger and allure, making him a captivating and complex antagonist. The chemistry between Ara and Luca crackles with tension, creating a gripping interplay that keeps us on the edge of our seats.
Kia masterfully weaves a tale of obsession, power, and twisted romance, where the lines between love and hate blur in a high-stakes game of wits and survival. The writing is intense and evocative, drawing readers into the dark and seductive world of organized crime. Insidious Obsession is a standout in the dark romance genre, offering a thrilling and emotionally charged story with a strong, unyielding female lead. It's a riveting read that explores the depths of vengeance and passion, making it a must-read for fans of dark, twisted love stories.
I’m Obsessed with this book! Reviewed in the United States on May 26, 2024 I am completely and utterly in love with this book. I’m no stranger with the author, so I know she writes amazing books and this one did not disappoint. The storyline was very interesting and well written, that I didn’t see some things coming, which is a positive and it flowed oh so good. The characters are gold!!! I’m so in love with Luca and Ara’s story and the steam factor was so hot, and just them being themselves together bantering, was such a great time I wanted more. I honestly had to force myself to stop reading so that I could pick up my kids from school because I was living in this book and I didn’t want to leave. I love reading mafia stories and this one was actually a little different than the norm but that’s why it’s so good because it’s not your everyday story. It’s a lot more interesting on how they met because Ara was actively trying to get in that she stalked this Mafia family and got herself into a pickle. How crazy is that? It has action, steam, mystery, and a whole lot of other twists and turns you will not want to put it down, trust me. After I finished this book, I absolutely could not read another book. I read everyday and for me not to read is huge but I was so enthralled in this story i didn’t want it to end. I keep thinking about this book so I wasn’t able to focus on anything else. I even made a bracelet with Luca and Ara’s names with the colors blue and green since those are their eye colors. I absolutely love Kia Carrington-Russell and the way she can suck you into her books by using her amazing talent of writing is just incredible. This genre is a new one for her but she did not disappoint at all. In fact, she nailed it and I NEED more of this genre from her. Now hurry up and start reading this book so you can get hooked too.
I will give this book 3.5⭐The book was good with a straight forward plot with a little suspense which I had guessed very early on👀 Luca was nice but nothing exceptional. Typical ott possessive and jealous type. I didn't like the fact he kept referring to her as his whore (outside the bed) again and again till 80% of the book because he knew he was feeling something for her. While talking dirty it's absolutely fine to call names but he really treated her as his mere commodity. And he was constantly thinking he should have killed the first time he saw her. Every damn woman was flocking towards him and falling on his feet. The author really exaggerated this again and again. It became annoying after a point. I really liked and admired Chloe. She wanted revenge and nobody could change that. Her father was a piece of shit. He got what he deserved. I still feel their banter could have been better because both of them kept repeating the same conversation again and again. It became tiresome after a point. What I didn't like was the love confession happened so suddenly because just before that he was thinking that he should have killed her in their first meeting. Author was in a hurry to finish the book🤔 Smut-🔥🔥🔥/5
‼️No cheating, no ow-om drama‼️ 🚫Non virgins, MMC was slightly a manwhore type as it was mentioned he had been with multiple lovers in the past🚫
"I will not be scared of this man, even if he is my undoing." - Ara
My first Kia Carrington-Russell, and it most certainly won't be the last! I recently downloaded the ebook on my Kindle app (it was free at the time), and a couple of days later, I ended up listening to the audio version, and my goodness!! The narrators are amazing! (I love it when I discover new fave narrators.) Addictive and easy to read, I quickly became immersed in the story. Time flew, and I was surprised that I read it in one day—it was incredibly hard to stop reading/listening.
"Perhaps I’m not the only one who pretends to be what the public wants—which makes it all the more fascinating to play with her for a while." - Luca
Insidious Obsession is a dark, mafia romance standalone, and book 1 in the Insidious Obsession series. The story follows Ara (FMC), a socialite driven by her purpose, and Luca (MMC), a mafia boss who is in her way. These two... they are explosive together!! From the get-go, Ara and Luca's chemistry is off the charts! I mean, look at how they met 😏 (you'll have to read it to find out). An intense s€xual tension exists between them; Ara and Luca cannot deny that they are attracted to each other. And when they both remove their masks/facades, Ara and Luca are so similar that they are perfect for one another.
"We both hide behind our names during the day. However, this unapologetic version of both of us has been unmasked. Our vulgar, ugly, and unwavering sides. Where mine is sly, his is deadly. I’m certain it’s a dangerous mix." - Ara
Due to her purpose, before they even met, Ara was surveillacing, *sort of* stalking Luca. And when Luca discovered this... I guess you can say that it ignited an obsession. Then the tables turned, and Luca began to watch Ara's every move. It went to the point that he bought the entire building she lives in, hence, he occasionally broke into her apartment to mess with her. And I love his nickname for Ara: Little Stalker *swoon*. I've hardly read double stalker books (in fact, I think this might be my first one?), and after reading Insidious Obsession, I now I need to read more of them!
“Obsession can lead you into dangerous places, my little stalker.” - Luca
Arabella Barone is the depiction of a perfect, dutiful daughter. Rubbing shoulders with New York’s elite, Ara is dedicated and determined to run her family's business. However, not everything is as it seems. Ara has a dark secret; in a way, she leads another life. While maintaining her pristine image, Ara is motivated to get her revenge and deliver justice.
Charismatic and lethal, Luca Armani is not only a successful, wealthy businessman but also a mafia boss. Ara was supposed to do what she does best: fly under the radar—not attract anyone's attention, especially Luca's. After a heated and life-threatening chance encounter, Ara thought that she could hide in plain sight, but Luca recognised her—he knows her dirty little secret, and he plans to use it against Ara.
What to expect:
- (Interconnected) standalone in a series - Dark romance - Mafia - Enemies to lovers - Double stalker - He falls first - Touch her and d!e - Revenge - Insta-lust vibes - Boy obsessed - Mafia boss MMC - Socialite FMC - HEA
When Luca discovers he has a stalker, he becomes intrigued. The most powerful man in New York doesn't scare easily. In fact, he starts to do his own stalking.
Ara has a big problem, not only has been caught but now she has her own stalker. Luca is controlling, evil and one step ahead of her at all times. But he can't find out her true intentions. She will play his game to eventually win, no matter the cost.
This is such a good story. Both characters are trying to uncover their own mysteries, while playing games with each other. Neither suspecting that they will start to develop feelings for each other. I wouldn't say it is a 'he falls first' trope necessarilly, but he definately embraces his feelings first. I liked that the story developed naturally, both characters are in denial about their feelings and there isn't a quick forgiveness, which I loved.
The dual point of view gives us access to each of their thoughts, but that doesn't take away from the overall mystery of what Ara knows. We were kept guessing until the very end about what she wants and how she was going to get it.
This is a fantastic read. I love the over all mystery that runs alongside the story, you are kept on your toes throughout the whole story. Both characters are amazing, Ara is a strong fmc who holds her ground against the most dangerous man in New York. She goes head to head with constantly and I love that she never backs down. Luca is a crazy mafia boss and Ara has truly captured his attention. I love his posessive over bearing behaviour and although some of the ways he shows his affection/control are questionable, I'm here for it!
Kia Carrington is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. I recently read her book "Lethal Vows" and was captivated, so I had high hopes for her latest release. I'm thrilled to say it did not disappoint. This book pulled me out of a reading slump, and I couldn’t be more grateful. Every chapter was engaging, and I never felt bored for a second.
The chemistry between the main couple was incredible—so intense that it had me blushing like a teenager.
Luca, the main character, is far from a typical hero. He's dark and intense, and there’s a scene where he sends her a box containing the arm and hand of two guys who touched her(second version of zade meadows). He’s a total red flag, yet that’s exactly what makes him so hot.
And when he threw away her Twinkies because she eats too many sweets? I couldn’t stop laughing.(I would be pissed tho)
I’m absolutely obsessed with this book. The characters, the storyline, the writing—everything was captivating. I actually found this book on TikTok, and I can’t thank the person who recommended it enough.
I absolutely loved this book, I was completely captivated and didn’t put it down until the very last word and even then I downloaded the additional extra epilogue. The suspense and mysterious elements were brilliantly written with such detail and emotion, I was completely sucked into the storyline. The relationship journey was mesmerising, the possessiveness, obsessive tendencies and steamy scenes were hot AF. Overall a phenomenal mafia dark romance, I loved every second of it.
4.5 ⭐️ That was so enjoyable! Such an easy read that kept me engaged the entire time which is surprising as I’ve been in a bit of a slump. Managed to smash this out within 24hours. Did I stay up until 4.30am reading it… Yes I did. Was it worth it…. Yes it was. Highly recommend if you’re into a morally grey sexy mafia kingpin who is completely obsessed with the FMC! Can’t wait for the second book in the series to be released!
I have no words.. so so so good!! In all honesty, this was one of the best mafia books I have read in a while!
The last three chapters were so emotionally well-written that I felt every entire feeling that was going through the characters. One of my favorite parts throughout the whole story!
Despite Luca’s possessive, domineering personality I absolutely loved how protective he was over Ara. The addition of Ara’s strong personality added the right amount of passion and fire to the whole story!
