First published in 1900, Dorland's Illustrated Medical Dictionary is universally acknowledged as the world's finest medical dictionary. Now in full color for the first time, the new, 30th Edition has also been thoroughly updated to reflect all of the very latest information from every frontier in health care. Over 123,000 entries cover all of the language integral to contemporary medicine-including approximately 800 new terms from the growing area of Complementary and Alternative Medicine. At the same time, the New Edition embodies the same comprehensiveness, accuracy, clarity, and ease of use that have established Dorland's as the best-selling medical dictionary of all time. An accompanying CD-ROM includes the Dorland's pocket dictionary in PDA format and the Dorland's Spellchecker program!
Excellent book for reference but I can't figure out why the words "erethism" and "colica pectonum" are not included. Now I need a Latin/English dictionary.
You could clobber someone with this book and then look up what your attack did to them with this book. I won a copy and my sister and I went through it reading random entries. It's pretty cool =)
An excellent companion medical dictionary to the classic, Stedman's Medical Dictionary, which is far more pedantic in its approach. Plus, the illustrations in Dorland's are excellent and grouped in a comprehensive way. I had both Stedman's and Dorland's on my shelf as invaluable references.
I read this book a long time ago when I was still in medical school in 2005-2010 (so most likely its older version). Definitely a must-read textbook for medical students, junior physicians, or medical doctors.
