I grew up on a small farm on the outskirts of Sydney and as a keen horse rider, often competed in local gymkhanas and even broke in a few horses from time to time. As I was surrounded by animals, I decided at an early age to become a nurse, however I couldn’t stand the sight of blood and so opted for a career in teaching. It’s a bit ironic that I married a surgeon.

I read my first Mills & Boon novel when I was 17 and that encouraged me to continue reading romance novels; the lure of the tall dark handsome hero, who in reality I fell in love with and knew I was going to marry on our second date! After marrying a year later, we moved to Scotland with our six week old baby so my husband could work and study for his MD in surgery. After the birth of our second son we came back to Australia to settle in Tasmania.

I went back to University and up-graded my teaching diploma to a degree and then went on to do a Masters but still I felt as if something was missing. I sat down one day and began writing and everything clicked into place - I had finally found ‘my brilliant career’! I used to write from instinct rather than a specific plan, but now, so many books later I find a loose plan doesn't go astray. An idea will pop into my head, sometimes it will be just a simple phrase or a what if question and I'm away.

Writing is a skill that can be learned and the best way to learn it is to read and to write. So many people feel they have a novel in them and very probably they are right-the only trick is to get it out. My advice to ‘would be’ writers is to write, write, and write even more. Carry a notebook at all times and jot down ideas. And like any other activity the more you do, the more it feels comfortable.

I hope you enjoy my stories and look forward to hearing from you.

I read this when it first came out, but never reviewed for GR. Stepbrother/sis are forced to marry to fulfill terms of hero's father's will. Heroine owns a salon and hero is a real estate developer but they are still holding on to their animosity from the past.

Heroine puts up a big show of not wanting to marry the hero for a month and hero spells out his commitment issues every other paragraph but they manage to have lots of sex between the "I hate yous."

The only interesting aspect of this story was not the romance, but the hero's brother, a priest. He This little side plot was supposed to cast suspicion on the hero at first and then show him to be a noble guy. It did not fit this story at all, but it was interesting.

MM's writing has come a long way since 2007 when this was written.

Wow...what a train wreck.

I kept trying, I really did. The Hero was a creep and the heroine was just TOO STUPID TO LOVE!

He was so abusive to her, physically, emotionally and sexually. But I kept hoping he would come around. But when he throws her out after finding the pregnancy test , I lost it. "I want you out of here and if I ever see you again it will be a minute too soon."

I really, really lost it, at the end in spite of all he did to her, that she was the one that went back to him... all because she loves him. How the heck, can anyone love someone like that?

I wonder how authors can write something so demeaning to women.

Hero accuses heroine of cheating without any reason yet heroine goes to him to sort out marriage and he doesn't even apologise let alone grovel?!
No! Nope! Na-ah! Niyet! Not in a million years!
If you had any grey matter in your head you bimbo, you'll go through with that divorce HE initiated, get the paternity test done and slap him with child support!
Not go to him willingly YOURSELF and take him back when he has done NOTHING to redeem himself!

What the hell was that?

Another tstl doormat takes it and takes it then runs to the hero. No, no, no!

The h has been in love with the H since they were step-siblings although she won't admit it. Due to a manipulative will, they have to marry so the POS H can get his father's house. The hero is cruel, nasty and insulting to the heroine, and she just comes back for more. Stomach churning and gross.

⭐2 Jasper & Hayley stars⭐

The things we read for our Goodreads challenges!!

I don't even know where to begin with this roaler coster but the way the Hero kept throwing the word "bitch" is a good start. I enjoyed some Melanie's books but I really really wish there is a way how to UNREAD this book.

"DO NOT JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER(OR TITLE AS IN THIS CASE)"
Holy Hell! This book was a freaking joke. Despite the very awesome title, there was absolutely no plot in the story. I kept waiting for the hero to act up, to stop acting like the brat he was, and the heroine to man up(or rather woman up).
Shit the heroine had absolutely no character. She's in love with one man one moment and then in love with another the next.
Ok start, Boring body, PATHETIC end.
I'm sorry. I never do this. I never criticise an author, and never this badly, but this book...... no words. Speechless. It was a joke.

Oh boy, where to begin…this was a mess from start to finish. The hero made such a hard U-turn at the end, if it had been a car it would have flipped. I absolutely do not buy into this romance AT ALL. The hero is an arrogant jerk from start to finish, with no redeeming qualities to make me root for him. And I wish I could say the heroine deserved better, but honestly, she was so dumb and weak through the whole story!

The hero never even came to grovel for a second chance; the heroine went to him, even though HE was the one who tossed HER out. 😫 This honestly read as a satirical Harlequin Presents. If you're looking for a satisfying romance, I'd recommend steering clear of this one.

I have had this book for a very long time. Slow burn, grumpy and sunshine, forced marriage, and so much more! I loved this book set in Australia!!!

I cannot emphasise how much angst I adore in a novel. Most books will have the h being the total a%& and the H being a doormat. However, uniquely, not this one. Ms MM delightfully gave a H who was equally matched and gave back as good as she got. Natalie was fiesty, brave, brilliant and bold. She was all of this and never a bit@#. I adored this H. Why this wasn't a five star book? The grovelling would have been exceptional if Jasper went to her and begged for forgiveness, confess undying love.I would have liked to him changed ...... if he went into isolation and humbly came back a softer, gentler and kind man, the same kind of personality he displayed with Daniel only with some more passion. Sigh! That would have made this book a classic.

This was so stupid and unbelievable. I disliked the heroine intensely, a smug, judgemental know it all. The hero was silly - he could have told the heroine the truth much earlier. He treated her really badly.

I disliked it a lot!!

I gave up reading this in Chapter 1 - If a girl who is engaged to marry hears someone say to her that her fiance is cheating with someone with absolutely no exclamation including Really? Show me the proof immediately goes into a space where she thinks oh well, he was the first guy to say I love you and offer me a home in suburbs but looks like that's not going to happen. Seriously one would be mistaken in thinking she heard that her nail looks chipped for all the reaction she emotes on hearing her fiance is cheating on her! The H and h are caricatures with some mention of a will that wants them to marry each other for a month without prenup. They just go off their rails and make up their own assumptions and presumably the rest of the book would resolve their misconceptions but its just so over the top ridiculous jumbled Chapter that it put me off the book before I reached the end of the chapter.

Finally

Finally a book from an author who gets a good balance between dialogue and thought life. Loved that there weren't page after page of thought life then a could sentences of dialogue then more pages of thought life. You get caught up in the flow of the conversation. I do wish the feelings of dislike stretched out a little longer and that there wasn't sexual interest from years past..it would have made it more interesting when the feelings began to change from dislike to love. And I wish the ending wasn't so rushed. But overall it was a really good book. Hopefully this author has more like it.

CLASIFICATION: 3.0 ESTRELLAS

This is such a disappointment from melanie

Casper is disappointing from start to finish. How could anyone take the abuse he gives Harley. I made myself finish it and am sadly regretting it.

Ennesima rilettura molto illuminante (sto ripescando libri sulla media per vedere se riesco a fare spazio in libreria e pare funzioni). È carino e si legge bene, ma una rilettura basta e avanza. È ora che prenda il volo.

Jasper Caulfield has everything he wants, he is rich, powerful, sexy as sin and lets nothing stand in the way of what he wants. So when he learns of a clause in his late fathers will stating in order to obtain a much sought after property he is to marry Haley Addington he is outraged. Jasper and Hayley have a history but not the loving kind, rather he believes her to be nothing more than a gold digger just like her mother and she hates him for doing to unthinkable to her years before. He must have full claims on the property and will stop at nothing to get Haley to comply and uses every tactic a billionaire like himself can to ensure Haley marries him.

Haley has everything she wants a thriving business, good friends, and a loving fiance. But suddenly her world tumbles when Jasper walks into her life informing her in no uncertain terms they are to marry. She fights him from every single angle she can think of but Jasper is relentless and time and time again proves he will not stop in achieving his goal. On their honeymoon Haley gives into temptation, and after many nights filled with passion Haley realizes she is in danger, she has lost her heart to the same man as years before!

On return home Hayley tries to come to terms with loosing her heart and to let Jasper see she loves him and will stand by him no matter what the future throws at them including the unplanned pregnancy she now fears she will have to face alone for Jasper has a secret which has caused him to live his life the way he does and as to why he will not let his heart love Hayley or their unborn child.

Can Haley melt the ice around Jasper's heart? Can Jasper let go of the past and trust in the future?

Melanie Milburne has a unique style of writing that let's you feel as if your actually inside the book living the lives of the characters. She keeps you intrigued and has you hanging on every single word. There is not one page that does not have you captured and wanting more. I could not stop reading, read it in one sitting I was truly disappointed when the book ended because the love story of Jasper and Hayley is one of true loves conquers all and you just want it to keep going! It is truly one of the best books ever written. If you have never tried a book my Melanie this is definitely the one to start with just like myself you will not be disappointed by the explosive passion Melanie portrays through her characters and you'll be coming back for more!

It had potential but somewhere nearly down the end everything was nonsensical, the end was rushed even for a HP, and to boot the h was the one to make the first move to get back together with the H. 3*
