Ideal for students who struggle with mathematics, this collection of 200 teaching activities and 40 games covers basic calculations, place value, multiplication, and division, with reproducibles on a CD-ROM. Based on the author′s experience in working with learners with dyslexia, dyspraxia, and dyscalculia, the recommended strategies are suitable for all students aged 7 to 14.
Another great book. It appears that a great deal of the work in actually instruction with people who have dyscalculia is being done in great Britain. Good for them!
There are plenty of math instructional guides out there, but there aren’t so many resources that can guide a teacher, tutor, or parent in making mathematics accessible to the student who’d rather just avoid it. Bird’s book includes the language, the approach, description of manipulatives and how to use them, as well as dozens of games.
