Sawyer For the most part I’m a simple guy. I’m an Air Force pilot who keeps his head down, works hard, and tries to stay out of trouble. Problem is, trouble always seems to find me. But when it looks like Naomi Foster, I’m powerless to resist. I said I didn’t need to get involved with another woman especially after how things ended the last time
But I’d happily let Naomi ruin me.
Naomi I don't mess around with stuff that overcomplicates my life. I love my career, and I love my family. Love itself, however, is overrated. It’s only ever let me down, and brought me pain and misery. But love isn’t the same as lust, and when it came to spending a night with the very handsome Staff Sergeant Powell, I said yes.
After all, it was just one night. What could possibly come of it?
Nicole is a super proud dog mom to three rambunctious rescue dogs.
She's an old school romantic, with a proclivity for a little mischief, and an obsession with Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
Her first book, Catalyst-Heart of the Inferno, is an action-romance about the terrifying and dangerous mafia lord Jaxon Pace, and Natalie Tyler, the girl who became his only exception.
The book started strong with a great prologue, but the ending fell flat. The 6 year time jump felt like copping out of actual plot development and then the end felt like a race to the finish with no flushing out of character or plot.
Would have been 1 star if not for Joe's narration. 🚩🚩⚠️⚠️ SPOILERS OF THE HIGHEST DEGREE NEXT
What the hell? The ex-wife drama and 6 year gap and he did NOTHING to fight for her. Her brother says don't come back here and he is like okay I will go off into the sunset with my ex.
THEN...Then... ✅️the ole wife dies trope ✅️zero I do mean ZERO grovel
The gloss over her meeting his son in 2 seconds.
Then a kidnapping and poisoning plot gets wrapped up in a chapter.
The only thing this books has is Joe's narration.
I almost DNFed but was curious if there was a grovel. Nope. Just a really rushed finish.
Is this a prequel? Im not sure but if it is, it has set up major expectations for a series that has potential for a great fast pace suspense romance and is read it for sure.
Great narration by Joe and Rose. Both great voice actors 🤩
There aren’t enough good things I could say about this novella and I didn’t want it to end! Though it was short, this story packed a punch 💥
In true Nicole Fanning fashion, she sucked me in, managed to make me love these characters and their story, break my heart and then put it all back together. There’s something magical about the way Nicole writes and has me falling hard for Sawyer pretty fast (oh to be called Crazy Girl 🫠) and loving Naomi and her charm. The things that follow their one night of love kept me engaged and waiting to see what was going to happen to next…and those twists didn’t disappoint! I absolutely love the relationship and banter between Naomi and her brother, Eric 😆 they cracked me up! It was also fun hearing some people that we’ve met before show up. If you’re a HOTI fan, you might crack a smile like I did when certain characters make an appearance!
Joe Arden and Rose Dioro did such a phenomenal job on this performance and I feel like they are perfect for Sawyer and Naomi! Rose Dioro is quickly moving her way up my list of favs! The emotions she portrays and the passion she pours into certain scenes really shines in what she’s performing. I can’t wait to listen to more of her! And we all know Joe Arden is a master of his craft…well he’s done it once again! He gives his all into every story and character that he plays and it really shows how much he loves what he does!
It was only supposed to be one night but sometimes love has its own plan.
Nicole has given us a beautiful love story with this novella. She gives our heart a little stop when circumstances out of Sawyer and Naomi’s control have a huge impact on their relationship. However, in true Nicole fashion, she puts the pieces back together and gives our hearts the HEA that it desires. It also made my heart so happy to get an appearance from a couple of my HOTI favorites.
Performed in duet narration by Rose Dioro and Joe Arden. They fit perfectly as Naomi and Sawyer and delivered flawless performances.
Listened to the audiobook while reading along. Joe Arden and Rose Dioro are perfect, perfect, perfect!!
This novella had me gasping in heartbreak, laughing out loud, completely delighted seeing characters from other Nicole Fanning's books, and desperately wanting more.
I'm not a fan of novellas/short stories just because of how rushed they are.. However, this was recorded by Joe Arden so I listened to it.. it's cute but just not my type of storyline 🌶️
3.5 ⭐️ For a short novella it packed a punch and the fact that it was dual narration with Joe Arden ahhh it was so good! Only downside is I would have much preferred it to have been a full novel but that’s a personal preference because the whole story is to good not to share and I’m left with questions or feeling like I was jilted because the ending was rushed.
- great palette cleanser - instalove - love triangle - military romance - novella - romantic suspense
What can I say. In Nicole Fanning’s true fashion she sucks you in for the get go. Even though it’s a novella, it has everything you want. Romance, spice, angst, action and of course a visit from old friends from the Heart of the Inferno series. I received the ALC on this book and Joe Arden & Rose Dioro were absolutely incredible. You felt every emotion those two brought to Sawyer & Naomi. I didn’t want this book to end.
Forget me Not is the complete standalone novella, reverse grumpy sunshine, insta-lust, forced proximity, he falls first, workplace romance of Sawyer and Naomi. Naomi Foster is in Arizona as a military contractor for her father’s company when she meets Sawyer at a bar. He comes to her rescue when she’s being harassed and the two agree to one night together, however, the next morning she wakes up to an empty bed. Imagine her surprise when she arrives at the military base to start her contract work and she is paired up with none other than Sawyer. After they talk it out it turns out they both felt something monumental happened the night they spent together and embarked on a whirlwind relationship. Things come crashing down when Sawyer’s ex-wife shows up declaring that she sent papers cancelling the divorce and wants to work on the marriage because she’s pregnant with his child. Devastated Naomi refuses to hear Sawyer out and flees. Fast forward six years, Naomi needs help when her family is being targeted and Sawyer is part of the team put together to help bring her brother home safely. Will Naomi be able to let go of past hurt and give in to the undeniable attraction still lingering between them? Sawyer Powell is an Air Force Pilot and after many years in a miserable he has signed the paperwork to dissolve his marriage, however, he didn’t read the papers his wife sent cancelling the divorce after they slept together one last time after drinking too much tequila resulting in pregnancy. Sawyer isn’t aware of any of this when he meets Naomi in a bar and what he thinks will be a one-night stand turns into so much more, until his ex-wife Kate shows up and drops the bombshell they are still married and she’s carrying his child sending Naomi running for the hills. Fast forward six years and Naomi is back in his life, and he’s determined to make her see it’s only ever been her he wanted, needed, and craved but he had to do right by Kate and their son. Sawyer will stop at nothing to make sure Naomi doesn’t get away a second time. The fabulously talented Rose Dioro and Joe Arden bring Naomi and Sawyer to life and do so in the most incredible way. Ms Dioro’s performance as military contractor Naomi, a woman whose heart was shattered beyond repair was sensational. Rose’s sweet, melodious tone perfectly showcased Naomi’s hurt and vulnerabilities as well as her stubborn streak. Mr Arden’s portrayal of Air Force Pilot Sawyer whose life changes in the blink of an eye was amazing. Joe’s smooth as Tennessee whiskey timbre perfectly highlighted the lovestruck, vulnerable and hurt sides of Sawyer. Overall, I loved this audiobook. This novella may be short but Jesus Christ on a bike does it pack a punch! This book had me not only captivated from the prologue but in a chokehold until the very end. The saying ‘good things come in small packages’ absolutely applies to this cracking audiobook. Another incredible read from Nicole Fanning!
Thank you Blue Nose Audio Publicity Team for providing an ALC in exchange for an honest review! All thoughts are my own and left voluntarily.
Narrated in DUET by: Rose Dioro and Joe Arden :) I absolutely adored Rose's take on Naomi. From showcasing vulnerability and alertness to being flirty and dreamy - Rose nailed this role! And for Joe - he balanced Sawyer's emotions so well! Great control over his honey dripping voice!
If you are looking for less then 3hrs long audiobook - look no further! Forget Me Not is my first military romance story, so I'm still testing waters. Nevertheless, due to voice actors effortlessly bringing to life Nicole's characters, I enjoyed the story of Naomi and Sawyer. What started off as one night stand turned out to be something much more serious and long-lasting..
We start off with an interesting prologue between Naomi, Sawyer and his wife.. and then ch.1 picks up (if I remember correctly) 4 months prior the prologue. They are in some sticky situation, I tell ya!
We get some karaoke action, chivalry, the fated one night stand full of nervous yet flirty energy and, I would say, sub-plot involving Naomi and Eric's (her brother) father, who is a big shot in the military. Basically, the trio are experts in advanced weaponry (bombs et.). And, of course, pov's from sweet Sawyer, who is Air Force pilot.
For me, this story was bit chaotic. Let me try to explain. Maybe, because I haven't read military romance before, the different parts regarding military sub-plot and wild turns, are standard in this type of genre. It could be that I expected romance with some military background only (like, not too deep exploration or something). Not sure. I will understand more of this once I pick up another military romance book, so I can compare. In general - a lot of things happened. Action, romance, sibling dynamic and drama.
What to expect: * Workplace Romance * Reverse Grumpy Sunshine * He Falls First * Forced Proximity * Forbidden Romance * Small Town * Insta-Lust * One That Got Away * Fluffy-Not-So-Dark-Romance * Standalone * HEA
thank you blue nose and @nicolefanning for the ALC
I usually have no expectations for novellas bc they’re underdeveloped and characters fall flat but THIS has def topped my all time list for sure. It was giving me TOP GUN 🛩️ vibes with the military airforce side plot. Ive only watched the second movie but them meeting at a bar?! At a military base? Just something about that tickled my brain. Fast paced novellas often lose me somewhere in the middle bc they just want the plot and the main characters to reach the finish line but THIS author’s story telling + the narrators’ performance was so enticing it was legit playing a movie in my head and i was just so captivated by the story. Midway I was dreading it already because the book was going by so fast and I just know this was one of those books where I wish it was longer because of the potential. The prologue alone was so attention grabbing. It was a solid foundation for the author and she had so many angles to play with.
The technical stuff flew over my head a bit 🤣 I have yet to read any military romances so this was refreshing for me to listen. I like how both the main characters were involved in the military bc it gives them more than just the insta lust connection. The 6 year time jump had my jaw dropping. I was genuinely surprised the author went that route bc im a sucker for “pls go after her and dont take no for an answer”. I still like how the fmc was selfless enough to let go.
if you love TOTGA (The One That Got Away) stories like I do or you just need something quick&spicy, this is the book! The audiobook is just a little bit over 2 hrs so u can listen and do chores at the same time. I will def be reading more from this author cuz I read Hate To Love You and I didnt know that was also written by her and her bestfriend

The way this book pulled me in! "Forget Me Not" is a flirty, emotional and action-packed novella that pulled me in with Sawyer and Naomi's passion for each other.
Naomi is in Arizona with her brother to meet her dad at the local military base. The night before at a bar with her brother, she's rescued by a military man named Sawyer, after an inebriated patron doesn't get the hint. The two agree to one night but both are equally surprised to find out that they're working together on a government project. As they spend time together, some things from the past come back out.
From the prologue, I was hooked on this story. I love how Naomi and Sawyer meet and how their story continues with them working together. The connection was instant and sizzling hot. Naomi is smart, caring and hesitant when it comes to new relationships which I don't blame her. Sawyer is divorced and wasn't looking for more either but couldn't stay away from Naomi. I loved how fast paced the book was and it wasn't filled with unnecessary scenes. There were some plot points that had my jaw dropping and I enjoyed the added drama to it. The ending was great and I'm looking forward to reading more from Nicole Fanning.
Joe Arden and Rose Dioro narrated in duet and brought this story to life. I loved their passion for this story and their narrations shined. Both were the perfect choices for this story.
Forget Me Not By Nicole Fanning Narrated by Rose Dioro, Joe Arden
This nugget is so good! Nicole Fanning has quickly risen to the top of my in my favorites list and I devour whatever she releases! Military romance is one of my favorites and this one brings it on! Naomi is being harassed at a bar, and Sawyer comes to her rescue. The two agree to one night together, only to find out they are working together on a weapons project. Is this a good thing? It's brings out all the fun, that's for sure. From a tantalizing prologue that grabbed me from the beginning to the push pull these two encountered throughout the book, I was captivated. Incredible suspense is brought in with danger that is shocking! And bring in cameos from Ethan and Levi from the Heart of the Inferno series is just a plus! I loved this nugget and can't wait to see what Fanning has in store next.
Making this novella shine is the narration by Rose Dioro and Joe Arden. Both are on my favorites list and I knew I was in for a treat. Dioro creates the best voices for her characters and as Naomi, she had vulnerability and stubbornness down! Arden comes in as Sawyer is perfection. He too has a vulnerable heart, is all business until he can't and I love when they both break and give in to their feelings. It's a fantastic performance and one that should not be missed!
I was surprised by this side-character story. It was not what I was expecting, but thoroughly enjoyed it. My only complaint is that I wish it had been longer, just like all of Nicole’s books. I can’t wait to see what she comes out with next; it will be a one-click for me as soon as the audio comes out.
Duet Narration, first-person, present-tense POVs with occasional flashbacks
What do you do when you run into your one-night stand the morning after, while at your job, your new job, your new job where you work with your brother and your father? You turn a one-night stand into a short fling, no feelings, just fun and when Naomi heads back to Chicago it will like nothing ever happened, at least until that plan goes right out the window, when the one-night stand turns into three weeks, which turns into three months.
But when someone unexpected comes blasting back into Sawyer’s life, Naomi runs as fast and as she can back to Sawyer without a second glance. It isn’t until six years later when her family is in danger that Naomi reappears in Sawyer’s life. Can they overcome the past and move forward or with the choices they make tear them apart forever?
“I never used to believe in soulmates or fate, until you. I swore I would never ever want to share my life with anyone ever again, but I have loved you since the moment I laid my eyes on you. You complete me in ways I could never have imagined. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I want to have kids with you, and I want to annoy the shit out of you for the rest of your life.”
I just loved this novella! For just under three hours of listening, you get practically all the tropes with excitement galore!
The opening was incredible, and it kept me riveted from literally the moment I turned the book on until it ended.
Sawyer, a pilot in the airforce, meets Naomi, a weapons designer, in a bar which turns into a 🔥 one-night stand only to find that they are working together on the Chimera weapons system and then the drama, one by one, unfolds.
What made it especially good for me was the re-introduction of Ethan White and Levy from the HOTI series, which I have literally just read back to back, so it was lovely to see them again. I also loved the origami notes!
This is definitely a standalone, but I do wonder if it is the start of a spinoff series with Ethan being the head of security for the new Chicago mayor! I'll have to keep my eyes glued!
The #duetnarration was sublime as ever by the incomparable #JoeArden and #RoseDioro.
Although I received a copy of this ALC from #bluenoseaudio, all opinions are my own.
This was such a cute, fun, quick read. I enjoyed the quick dip into Sawyer and Naomi's love story and found I wanted more. I want a full-length novel of their life together after their first encounter.
Rose Dioro and Joe Arden were fantastic in this. Rose had this innocent undertone to her voice that portrayed Naomi as sweet and shy, but she was still able to give her a fierceness when needed. And Joe...well, I mean, it's Joe Arden, so that already speaks volumes. But him as Sawyer can call me "ma'am" ANY day of the week. I also really liked him as Eric, Naomi's brother. He was hilarious.
My only con about this was that there were a few times when the audiobook did not match the words in the book, one of them being Naomi and Eric's last name. I also really think a few more set of eyes needed to read through this to catch some of the errors scattered throughout. But overall, these things did not deter me from the story and, as you can see from my rating, I still quite enjoyed it.
*Minor spoiler coming, if this isn't already known to other readers:
I didn't know this was part of the Hearts of the Inferno universe, so I was pleasantly surprised when I found that out. It's not part of the main series, just the world.
Nicole Fanning—my favourite author ever—has done it again! From the very first page, she throws you straight into the heart-pounding action, and Sawyer and Naomi completely stole my heart. Their chemistry was instant, their connection addictive, and I couldn’t stop turning the pages. My only complaint? I’m greedy… I wish this novella had been a full-length novel so I could soak in every moment of their love burning brighter and growing deeper. Still, the pacing was spot-on, the story flowed perfectly, and it left me both satisfied and craving more. And for my fellow HOTI fans—brace yourselves—there’s a surprise visit that will absolutely make your heart explode.
My two favourite quotes:
“But regardless of if it’s one night, one week, one year, or one lifetime when I do anything, I like to do it right. So I suggest you buckle up, Crazy Girl.”
“I couldn’t exactly put my finger on what it was about him that had derailed me so irrevocably, but something about him had felt so safe and familiar; as if some secret tucked deep within the spine of my soul had clicked into place.”
Nicole always knows how to put us right into the action of a book. This one was no different. This short little novella was a great read. I loved Sawyer and Naomi's relationship. The only problem I had with the whole thing is that I wish it had been a full-length novel because I would have really loved to watch the main characters grow together more. With novella's, I feel sometimes it's hard to capture those really intense moments of lust turning to love. Nicole did a great job with it, but there's that part of me that was greedy for more. I thought the timeline flowed nicely, and it was perfect for the length that it was.
The narration was on point on this one. Rose Dioro is a bit of a newer voice for me, and I thought she was a wonderful Naomi. For me, Naomi's character had this young, vibrant feel to her, and I felt like Rose's voice filled that image perfectly for me. Joe as Sawyer was great. I love Joe in these more contemporary types of books. I feel like they fit his voice really well. I felt the connections and the emotions through the words and narration.
Overall, if you are looking for the perfect quick read or listen that makes you feel so much in a short amount of time, this one is for you.
Wow for this to be a Novella it is packed full. Naomi, her brother and father are on base for a contract job. Naomi and Eric(brother) go to a bar, and that’s where she meets Sawyer. Sawyer is going through a divorce in fact he just moved out his ex-wife before going to the bar. She decides to throw caution to the wind and have a one night fling with Sawyer. Little did either one of them know is that they would be working on this project together. Then let’s just a misunderstanding on how Sawyer left after that one night, caused some tension until they gotten straightened out. Just when you think everything is great, they have fallen in love the ex-wife returns and turns things upside down. Will Sawyer and Naomi have a happy ending?
This audiobook was narrated by Joe Arden and Rose Dioro. Joe did a phenomenal job bring out all the emotions of Sawyer. And Rose, she is so talented. She exuded Naomi’s strengths and heartache.
I was given this audiobook by Nicole Fanning and bluenose audio for my honest review.
Forget Me Not is a novella packed full of goodness. Naomi is in Arizona as a military contractor for her dad's company. Sawyer is an Air Force pilot fresh out of a destructive marriage. When they agree to have a one-night stand, sparks fly between them. When Sawyer has his own "series of unfortunate events", things go badly for them. No spoilers, but this second chance, military romance brings the angst, steam, suspense, and all the feels. I did have an issue with some technical aspects of the story (mainly the military details) but that is my hang-up and doesn't distract from the story.
The duet style narration was just perfect. Rose Dioro was THE Naomi - a little vulnerable with a whole lot of big girl energy. I love her narration style. Joe Arden as Sawyer was excellent as well. His scenes of frustration were so awesome because you just kept thinking "Can't this guy catch a break??". 5 high-flying stars for this pair.
For a 3-hour novella, a lot was packed in here. What starts as a one-night stand for Sawyer and Naomi turns in to so much more only to be derailed by an ex-wife and baby. There is a sub-plot involving her father and brother that felt chaotic and really left me scratching my head. wish authors who choose to write military-based books would do all the research needed. There is no way Sawyer could be a Staff Sergeant and a pilot. Pilots are commissioned officers. I know it’s nitpicking, but these mistakes were a distraction to me and I didn’t enjoy it nearly as much as I should have.
The book had so much potential and I wish it were longer!
This book was recorded in duet style and was absolutely the right choice. Both narrators, Rose Diorio and Joe Arden, were both passionate and and did a great job bringing the characters to life.
I received an ALC from Blue Nose Audio in exchange for my honest opinion.
Nicole Fanning has quickly become a one click author for me!
Forget Me Not is a fun and spicy military novella, audio just under 3 hours.
Naomi and Sawyer had a great meet cute at a bar that led to a one-night stand. They both had been hurt and not looking for anything long term. They had an instant connection with amazing chemistry, they hit a few obstacles along the way with some moments that hurt my heart. Side characters were great - I loved Naomi's brother, Eric - such a fun character and I really hope we hear more from him in the future. I do wish we had a little more time with them as a couple and growing their relationship but that is just me being greedy because I wasn't left unsatisfied with the storyline.
Narrated in duet by Rose Dioro and Joe Arden - Their voices worked so well together, and they really brought out the emotions when needed. I could laugh or be angry right along with Sawyer and Naomi. I would love to listen to more books with this pairing.
It's a short read. Not horrible, but not mind-blowing either. There were a few moments of banter that had me giggling to myself. I listened to this one on audio, and it only took a little over two hours to finish. The narrators did a fine job, I just think too much was happening in such a short expanse of time. To be fair, novellas are sometimes hit and miss for me. I like my stories meaty lol. I like to feel all the feels when I'm reading. I want to connect. I struggled to do that with this one because I barely had time to register the plot points, let alone absorb them, before we were thrown right into the next thing. I think having a SIX YEAR time jump in a novella is a risky little game to play.
I don't want to discount Nicole's writing from this one experience. This was my first time reading her work, and it's easy to see the massive amounts of potential in her pen. I think maybe I just need to try one of her lengthier stories.
