The author explores the importance of informational interview taking it as a great way to learn about how somebody got to where they are by connecting the dots, it's simply put being curious, open to learning from someone and practicing or implementing what works to get ahead in your career, goals and life. This is a short book, easy to read and it has two parts; the first focusing on preparation and the second mastery. I loved the track sheet on networks and connections and like most young professionals I have sent out applications and requests to connect with various organizations but never tracked them and their results and I want to do that going forward, so I gauge what works and what doesn't in my communication. The Informational Interview Playbook is chock full of very helpful tips on how to approach it including questionnaires, assessments and personal stories. I found the content to be very comprehensive and would recommend it to job seekers. The only thing I did not like was some of the writing style (swear words turned me off) but if you can get past that, great content is in this book!
