The former director of Bible Study Fellowship offers thirty-one prayer devotions designed to direct thoughtful meditation and prayer through an understanding of the character of God. (20040603)
A dear friend gave me this book. I was teaching through VanderGriend's book 'Love to Pray' and talking about how praising God seems to be difficult when we cannot find the right words. She gave me Rosemary Jensen's book and I found it so delightful. One reason is that it is comprised mostly of Scripture... gathered together under 31 themes that describe the greatness of God. Jensen's role in Bible Study Fellowship undergirds the trust and depth of Bible study in which she has been involved. This is a book I read through, but it is more than that. I know it will be a resource for years to come as I spend time meditating on the attributes of God by simply thinking about Scripture. In some chapters I was able to add Scriptures and I plan to do that even more. This book will assist those who desire to pray with more regularity, giving structure, Bible verses, prayer prompts, and space for requests. So grateful to my friend for thinking of me and buying me this copy. I know it will make a lasting influence.
I loved using this book as a sort of daily devotional to help guide my daily prayer. Adoration has always been a weak point of mine in prayer, so this book was particularly helpful for me. I will continue reading through it in my quiet times.
Just excellent! Focusing on the attributes of God each day has shaped my prayer time and been so very encouraging. I love the journaling pages she included. One of the best books of my year and I will definitely go through it again.
So enjoyed the scripture that gave the attributes of God. I really liked how it helped me to confess where I have fallen short. And I loved praying the scriptures as a thanksgiving.
I enjoyed using this devotional. Focusing on God’s attributes and then using the ACTS model of prayer is a method I will use again as I read Scripture on my own.
