When someone heard I was reading this book they asked why. I read on average over 100 books a year. My reading speed is over 400 words per minute. But it was not always that way. I have a dual form of dyslexia and came out of grade 7 reading at a grade 3 level and went into grade 8 reading at a University level because I spent my whole summer break in school learning how to read. With this book you can achieve that in just 10 minutes a day! My answer was threefold, first I am always looking to improve and grown and second I often get asked for book reconditions for people looking to read more. And third I have loved all of Michal's books that I have read and want to read his complete cannon. Up until now I would always recommend either The Coles Notes Your Guide To Speed Reading or Teach Yourself Speed Reading from the Work Smarter series. Both of which I have read and recommended to numerous people who have had success in increasing their reading speed. But now my first pick now will be Michal's book!

Like the other books in the 10 Minutes a Day series this book follows a simple format but presents a lot of great information in a small concise package. The sections in the book are:

Introduction
10 Minutes
Speed Reading Obstacles
Techniques
Program
Free Resources
The Stories
Nathaniel's Story
My Story
Conclusion

Early on Michal states: "Your background, your education, your interests, your general knowledge - all these factors influence your reading speed, because they determine your vocabulary and your reading confidence." And from my previous reading and experience that is very true. But based on Michal's story: "I'm living proof that a 10-minute practice can be fruitful. I can read more than 50% of what I read a year ago within the same time. I can read 90 minutes a day (including the speed reading practices) and still read the same amount of text that used to take me two hours to read a year ago." And that can be true for you also. So pick up the book and give it a try. As Michal declares "Value your time. Your time is your life. Start today, grab a book and use your finger as a pointer, or read and simultaneously pat your thigh rhythmically. Just for ten minutes. Discover that there is no magic in speed reading and keep practicing." And who knows what your reading speed may become, you will have more time to read or for other activities. Basically it is a win win situation for you.

Here’s a brief description of this book: concise, simple and to the point. Reading this book won’t magically transform your reading speed, but it tells you the techniques through which you can speed up your reading, which is extremely beneficial seeing as you would read more in less time. In addition to the techniques and how-to’s, he provides us with tools and schedules to help us work through the process. More importantly, Michal highlights an important factor, namely perseverance, saying, “Remember, daily sustained action brings results. It's a law of nature.” Following his techniques regularly will surely bring about positive results. So long as everything can be done then it is considered easy:
“Do you know Jim Rohn's definition of "easy?" It's something you can do.”

I have been always disciplined and determined to learn new skills. But I have always failed to learn to speed read. I like 10 minutes approach and beating rhythmically your thighs while reading from the book. Will try to practice and see what happens.

----------spoiler alert----------
Michal Stawicki, The Author discusses that we humans have developed our way of life,
the way we talk, the way we walk. Surely we now don't walk/talk as we used to when we
were kids but we seem to be neglecting the fact that we need to change the way we
Read. To develop a better reading skill we should stay motivated to break a bad slow reading habit of "see-say-hear-think" into "see-think". Further, the author justifies his 10
minute philosophy in a way that anyone can commit the least of 10 minutes daily easily to achieve their goals as " success always underlies sustained actions", even the smallest sustained actions bring results. Problems like
1. Sub-vocalization
2. Regression
3. Eye fixation
4. Vision span (no peripheral)
5. Limited Vocabulary is the opposite forces that tend to slow down your comprehensive reading skill, further
to cater to these problems we should practice a few techniques like
1.Tongue bitting
2.Eye span pyramid
3.Shultz table
4.Pointer use
5. vocabulary building & topic familiarity
all these techniques are to be practiced according to a discussed work plan.
overall for me book has proved to be effective. My comprehensive speed reading has improved to 230 words/minute from 190 words/minute.

Simplicity at its finest

The exercises described are very simple to apply to my daily reading habits. I have no doubt that my reading will improve exponentially with consistent repetition of the tools provided in this book

Gauging speed by counting the no of lines read in a minute multiplied by average no of words in a line is a fast method.

10 minutes of daily training prescribed in the book is supposed to boost reading speed.

There is nothing groundbreaking in this book. It was probably written in a few days or even hours to make some fast money for the author.

They have nothing new to bring to the subject and have not developed any new techniques that are all covered in more depth in other books.

I would not really recommend this book to anyone.
