Nina is an ER Doctor who is committed to her job. In the course of Nina's duties she has to treat a gorgeous blue eyed, sexy as sin, medical malpractice attorney. The electrical connection between Nina Henley and Wade Connolly is instant. Things heat up pretty quickly, even in the medical examining room.

Nina unwittingly becomes involved in an insurance fraud case that Wade is working on. One that could put her life at risk and them on opposing sides.

This book is an easy read that has a little mystery and suspense as we try to guess the culprit. Action both outside the bedroom and definitely hot in the bedroom! It's a good book to take on between reads. Not heavy, not light - just right!

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Lisa Eugene is one of my top 10 authors. She writes some wicked good mystery-suspense-erotica that I LOVE! Gah it's so good! and now that it's over I want more more more! This is the third book in the Washington Memorial Series (it's a stand alone so no cliffy) and it just keeps getting better and better every time!

Nina Henley is an Emergency Room Doctor dedicated to her job, focused on that soon-to-be promotion, yet hasn't thought about or gotten laid since dumping her sleazy ex months ago. Well that's how she felt until she met Ambulance Chaser AKA medical malpractice attorney Wade Connolly. Together they've got to balance being under the covers and uncovering a secret so deadly, it could cost someone their life.

I love the mystery in these books. Even thought the sex scenes are great, the suspense adds so much substance to the story that mentally I'm making a list of possible suspects 20% in... and EVERY TIME I'm wrong. It's always the person you're not expecting, but then that always seems too easy so I end up choosing the wrong person and then Lisa makes my brain go crazy with who committed what crime AND THEN she makes me go all mushy inside when Wade and Nina share some extremely passionate nights together. It's best of both worlds!!

Overall, I think this is a terrific book. I love getting these ARCs from Lisa. She's an amazing writer. I'm not trying to blow sunshine up her butt, but I think she's really underrated. I wish more readers would go out and read her work. I'm giving this book 4.5 STARS out of 5 STARS because this is a read everyone needs to go out and buy!

This story was a little hard for me to get into at first, namely because I found the opening pages to be over-written and the descriptions of our main characters to feel a little stereotypical for a romance novel. I guess that’s okay for most romance stories, but I always hope for a little more distinctiveness. I did like the doctor/malpractice lawyer pairing, however.

By the Lunch with the Parents scene, however, things were picking up. The lunch was very funny, and Nina and Wade both started feeling more three dimensional. I was getting into it pretty good by Chapter Five and was rather engrossed come Chapter Six. It was suspenseful enough to keep me interested and moving right along.

My main issue over all was with Nina. Anyone who reads my reviews knows that I tend to have trouble with female characters, generally in romances/romantic story lines, so that’s my thing…but there it is.

What my problem was, was that early on we see her presented as being very analytical, even in (especially in) romance. I realize it’s part of the story that Wade makes her feel impassioned and reckless, but it’s when we’re looking at her in the moments away from Wade that the inconsistency shows.

I’m trying to explain this without putting spoilers in my review, lol.

There comes a point in the story where she makes a snap emotional judgment about Wade, and at that point in the story, you can understand it. Her reaction later and that of Sally (her best friend) kind of annoy me for other reasons, but my inconsistency issue is that she clings to this belief despite any and all evidence to the contrary. She even will believe something an untrustworthy character says because it enforces that first belief, when there’s no real evidence.

A truly analytical, intellectual mind will always consider the evidence and will entertain the possibility that things are not as they emotionally believe they are. Nina never does until the very end, when it smacks her in the face. During those knee-jerk emotional moments, it’s understandable. But even when she’s out of the situation and has time to reflect, she never considers the alternative possible. It clashes, to me, with how she is presented and how she is allegedly supposed to be like.

As a very analytical person, I know how it works and I suppose that’s why it bothered me as much as it did. It felt…contrived for the sake of suspense, drawing it out unrealistically if Nina was really supposed to be the way she was described. Contrivance always tweaks me. Now, someone else may disagree. May say that she is just that emotional about Wade that it blinds her analysis. But I didn’t quite see it that way.

Otherwise, my issues were fairly minor. It could have used some more editing, but was never so bad off to make it hard to read. Detective Sullivan felt more like a caricature than a character, but he was a minor player. There was some Tell on scenes where it should have been Show. And Point of View changes without distinction.

Even so, all that being said, I enjoyed the story. Despite the inconsistency, I did like Nina and I liked her strength and dedication to her profession, even if it was a little naive at times. I liked Wade, but I’m always into a good alpha male that’s not an alpha asshole. The sex scenes were hot. I thought the malpractice plot was interesting, and although some aspects of the climax were not a surprise, others were. The ending chapter was fun, if a little silly.

So, I think I gotta go with a pretty solid 4 on this one. I may well check out Ms. Eugene’s new book coming out next month too.

I was so ready to fire up the confetti machine and start dancing and celebrating because I thought I found a great author of romantic/ erotic suspense but after having finished this book, I realized that I have to postpone the festivities. What a letdown after "Steal My Heart"!
Meh...
Bland, one-dimensional characters moving with lightning speed through a story with no suspense whatsover, ridiculous villains and a laughable conclusion. A waste of time!

But I want to take the opportunity to get something off my chest here, because I noticed some similarities with the second book in this series:
Romance stories are fiction, right?
I think it's safe to say that it's highly unlikely that normal, ordinary people will find themselves in situations like the ones described in those books. And to all those out there who are still clinging to the hope of having something similar happening to them: I am really sorry to burst your bubble, ladies, but it ain't gonna happen!

And what has this to do with this book???

Reading about two characters falling in love with each other can be really riveting! I cannot imagine myself to tire of this stories in the near future. And yes, reading how exactly they are jumping each others bones can be highly entertaining too, but all this should happen in the correct order, for heavens sake !!!
I am old-fashioned, I know. :-(
And so while I am expecting some kind of introduction to take place before two strangers get down to the nitty-gritty I often have to read, like here in this book, about a hero grabbing an unknown to him female and shoving his tongue down her throat and she reaching into the pants of the hero!? Huh? HELL-OOO!!! Approximately five minutes after laying eyes on him for the first time! COMPLETELY SOBER? In a contemporary romance story and not a paranormal one?
NO!
No, no, no...
Oh, come on! I really have to stretch even my overactive imangination to its limits for situations like these!
And while I find myself still continuing with the story, my mind wanders constantly to this first scene and I am asking myself why some authors are doing this.
Regardless of how steamy and exciting such a scene is written- even if I am seriously contemplating about jumping into my eReader and getting my greedy hands on the hero myself- I wince and roll my eyes every time I have to reach such nonsense.
I cannot help myself but this is such a cheap behaviour; it's ridiculous!

Well, obviously this did not deter me from finishing this book but I am sad to announce that it did not get any better. :-(

Strictly Business by Lisa Eugene is anything BUT Strictly Business!

Nina Henley has dedicated her life to her profession. She’s an ER doctor and damn good one. She up for promotion, she’s dedicated and she cares.

Then she meets Wade Connolly, a medical malpractice lawyer. He comes to the ER one night, needing medical care. There, he meets Nina. Things happen in the ER room that rivals Grey’s Anatomy!

Wade is investigating a case and before he knows it, Nina is involved. He’s attracted to her and he wants to protect her. Nina thinks he’s a womanizer who’s just using him.

I really liked this story. We had some suspense and a bit of mystery. The passion and attraction between Wade and Nina were hot. Nina and Wade are both lovable and come across as real people, not just story book characters. There was some doubt on the part of Nina, justifiably so, but it didn’t overpower the rest of the story.

I do wish we had gotten more of Wade’s inner workings. We got enough to know him but I would have liked a bit more from his standpoint.

At one point in the story I started to think the mystery of the case had been dropped off. Nothing was said about the case for a while, but we did eventually come back around to it. I was surprised at the outcome of the mystery. That was not one I was expecting.

Lisa Eugene is a new author to me, but I will be checking out her next boo Steal My Heart. This time around we have an OR nurse and an Ex-Navy SEAL. We all know I love a man in (or out of) uniform!

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Let me begin by stating the flaws I have found while reading this book. First, I managed to mix some of the characters up with others, and eventually went "What the hell is going on??". Another one is the fact that Wade is "New York`s sexiest bachelor"... so how in the world did Nina never hear of him?

Anywhooo... I loved how this book was paced out, and if you knew me, you would understand that I hate slow or fast paced books. I like a back story and to watch the romance sizzle to explosion, and I got that in Strictly Business. For a debut novel, it sure was written well, and I don't know many authors who can write this well on their first book.

I enjoyed most of the characters (the ones that matter), I adore Nina`s parents, and I love how theirs more to Wade than what you see on the surface. However, the drama might have been a little forced, but I still got swept up in it.

So, how to give this book the review it deserves without bashing it into the ground unintentionally?
Uhm....

I would recommend this book to anyone who loves moderately paced romances that has a lot of sizzle, two people who have an animalistic attraction that will make you nervous to read this book anywhere other than your bedroom, a mystery that will leave you guessing time and again, and man that is so hot for words but too sweet for candy.

I really did love this book and hope to read any more than may come from this author`s brilliant mind. Thanks, Lisa, for letting me read it!

Hard to believe "Strictly Business" is Lisa Eugene's debut novel as she's successfully combined an interesting and engaging story of insurance fraud, intertwined with hot, sizzling romance between two people who clearly cannot get enough of each other right from the get-go. Wade and Nina make a great couple; both stubborn and passionate when it comes to their respective careers. I love the desire that Wade feels for Nina as you can really feel it. What I really appreciated was that unlike so many other romance novels where authors usually have a conflict or misunderstanding near the end that break up the couple, Lisa Eugene did not follow this trend. In fact, there is no breakup; only Nina refusing Wade's demanding instruction of staying in instead of going to work for her own protection. Her career as an ER doctor, a dream Nina’s had since she was a little girl, caring for those who need health care is her first priority above all others, including herself. While the story and romance is written well, I found the ending to be a little disappointing as it was wrapped up too neat and quickly. More about the doctors involved in the insurance fraud would have been made the novel even more interesting. I will admit though that I was surprised at the involvement of one of the culprits as I did not see that coming. I look forward to reading the author's next novel.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

Nina Henley being everyone's idea of the favorite doctor. She is committed to her profession but not for the money, but to help out those in need. She is a beautiful and sweet woman who wants to believe the best in everyone.

Wade Connolly is the hot patient that comes into her ER with an injury. Wade is a malpractice lawyer who injured himself helping a friend and reluctantly went to the ER when he couldn't get rid of the pain.

We start the story with Nina getting her fill of the eye candy that is Wade and it is hilarious from the start. Not to mention, the chemistry is off the charts with these two. Sometimes Nina's naivety gets in the way and frustrates Wade. Thankfully Nina is smart enough to reason the information she is given out and decide on who is good and who isn't. That doesn't prevent her from being blindsided but Wade is there to pick her up and make sure she is ok.

Once I started the book I didn't want to put it down and I am glad that I decided to read it. I was hesitant because I had just finished a few books that were rough to get through. This certainly turned things around and made a happy reader out of me! I am glad to have found a new author and look forward to other books by Lisa.

I had high hopes for this story and expected to rate it higher.

It started out good. Wade (a malpractice attorney) and Nina (E.R. doctor) meet and it's instant sparks.
Both of them are likable and their attraction is electric. Soon we meet Nina's parents, her mother in particular is a funny eccentric character and I would have loved more of her in the story.

The problem is that the book became clichéd with both Nina misunderstanding Wade's intentions towards her which could have been settled with a conversation, and the climax involving the suspense/mystery aspect of the story.

Still, not a wall-banger and I would give this author another try.

Enjoyable read about ER Dr Nina and medical malpratice lawyer Wade. The two have instant sexual attraction that literally combusts in the treatment room of the ER.
There were some funny moments involving her parents at the resturant and towards the end at Nina's 30th birthday party.Afterall, what girl does not want a Disney Princess party as a suprise with Mom and Dad dressed as Mickey and Minnie!. There was a nice mystery involving corupt MD's and missing MRI'S and it had me guessing as to whom was the " baddie MD" till the end.

The hero, Wade Connolly, is a lawyer specializing in malpraxis suits. He doesn't like doctors, or trust them. Quite ironic really since he falls head over heels in love with one, Nina Henley. At first sight, too. Lucky for him she feels the same. An evil plot and some really greedy people help speed things along.

*I received this book free from Barclay Publicity in exchange for an honest review*

Nina Henley is a very dedicated ER Physician that is waiting for a soon to be promotion that she deserves more than anyone. Treating the man that catches her eye from the waiting room might just change everything. Their instant sexual attraction takes control when Nina drops her guard while treating his injury in the exam room.

"God...I want you. Where can we go? Is it safe in here?"

Wade Connolly is a medical malpractice attorney who is working on an insurance fraud case and has no idea the hospital he is treating at is the one hospital that holds all the secrets to his case. Meeting his doctor, Nina, changes his life forever. He cannot get her off of his mind. Her smell. Her taste. The good thing is he does not have to wait long to run into her again.

When Nina learns of the case and decides she can take matters into her own hands and do her own investigation (maybe to prove Wade wrong) she quickly learns that all of her hard work, promotion, and chance for true love have just become threatened.

The chemistry between Nina and Wade is instant and they have no problem teasing each other. When the teasing stops the heat turns all the way up to high. This book was just right for me. Not too much detail but enough. And it's fast paced with a great love story.

My Favorite Moment: I have multiple favorite parts to this story but I will definitely never look at whipped cream the same again.

What a fun, first read for me, by a relatively new author. Our heroine, Nina, is an emergency room doctor. She’s smart and classy, has rather eccentric parents, and is completely dedicated to her career. Wade, our hero, is a lawyer and he is sweet and charming with a dash of brooding sensuality. Wade happens upon Nina while being treated for a shoulder injury and they both experience an instant attraction. Nina runs into Wade again while dining with her parents and Nina agrees to a date. A little dinner, some conversation and they tumble into bed. Things aren’t so cut and dried, though, in their budding relationship. A big misunderstanding that is the result of a case Mitch is investigating with his law firm and Nina puts the brakes on the relationship. However, circumstances throw this couple back together and they learn to navigate the treacherous slope of lust, love, treachery, lies, and misconceptions. I don’t want to give away spoilers but the ending blew my mind because I did not see it coming. This was a fun and enjoyable read with a very good, suspenseful storyline, some surprise twists and turns, and a wickedly hot romance that rounds out the book perfectly. Both characters are strong and well liked and I absolutely adored Nina’s parents (and their genius party planning). I give this book 4.5 of 5 stars and look forward to reading more of Ms. Eugene’s work in the future.

Strictly Business by Lisa Eugene is the first of three books in her Washington Memorial series. It is not necessary to read the books in order. Strictly Business is a fast paced, super hot, romantic suspense that has a medical background.
Strictly Business is the story of Nina Henley, an ER doctor who is committed to her job and to helping others. While on duty in the ER, she has Wade Connolly as a patient. Wade is titled as "New York's Sexiest Bachelor." He is also a renowned medical malpractice lawyer. The sparks between the Nina and Wade occur instantly almost cause the ER to combust!
This book is filled with plenty of sizzling encounters between the physician and the handsome lawyer. It does, however, have a great storyline as Nina becomes involved in one of Wade's malpractice cases. Life-threatening incidents occur that keep the suspense flowing and the pages turning. This book is hard to put down!
Strictly Business is fast paced and abounding with intrigue and passion. If you love romantic suspense, you must read Strictly Business and the others in the Washington Memorial Hospital series. #1 Strictly Business, #2 Steal My Heart, and #3 Surrender My Love.

"God...I want you. Where can we go? Is it safe in here?" His husky breath floated against the shell of her ear, sending a hazy buzz along her skin.

Let me just say that this book was a very pleasant surprise! I wasn't sure what to expect when the author sent me a copy but it is HOT! I read the book in 1 day, it was difficult to put down! Nina and Wade are combustible together and from the first time they meet the sex is unbelievable Seriously, I thought the first sex scene was a dream or fantasy. Then I figured out that it wasn't so I was confused. But, in the end we find out that Nina and Wade have a chemistry that cannot be denied, though she tries to deny it and keep their relationship Strictly Business. This romance story has mystery to it that I found very enjoyable, especially since you don't know who the culprit is until the end. This is a good first book for Lisa Eugene and I look forward to reading more from her soon!

Okay, so I went back and read this book after reading Lisa Eugene's other two books in the Washington Memorial Hospital Series. Loved this one, as well. The characters are well developed and interesting. The romance has just enough heat to keep your heart all a flutter. The male lead, Wade is a malpractice attorney, and meets our female lead, Nina, when he is injured. She is his ER doctor, and there is some spontaneous combustion right off the bat. Get ready readers, because you are rewarded with ants in your pants right off the bat. This time your alpha male is warm and funny, and your female lead is driven by compassion, and harassed by crazy, fun parents. This is a great love story, and a suspense is entwined to keep you guessing. So, what are you waiting for-grab this book and let the chores go-there will be time after your get your romance novel fix.

Never a dull moment! This book grabbed me & kept me prisoner. A willing prisoner! I could barely put it down until I finished it. I sacrificed sleep & yet I don't regret it!

Wonderful author & book! I love the humor, intelligence, the creativity of the medical-based story. I love the suspense, the characters & the white-hot heat. I also love the action, it ratchets up the overall passion. There's an intensity that is yummy. I also have a personal preference for reading & relating to damaged people & this book fills that need of mine. I also love the ethical, psychological & emotional issues that are touched upon.

This book would benefit from editing however, it did not prevent me from becoming totally engrossed in the world that this book introduced into my life. I never wanted it to end. I highly recommend this book to intelligent adults who like exciting reads.

Wade sure knows how to get a girls attention, "he slid off the exam table with a wince, then reached around with his right arm and cupped a generous portion of her buttocks, lifting and crushing her hips against his." I mean as far as first impressions go, Nina and Wade take the damn cake, "God...I want you. Where can we go? Is it safe in here?" His husky breath floated against the shell of her ear, sending a hazy buzz along her skin." Wade that boy holds nothing, not his feelings, not his words, N-O-T-H-I-N-G, "I want you. I've missed you," he whispered hoarsely. "I've pleasured myself while remembering your sweet taste. I'm aroused just now thinking about it." He can be caring, "Nina," he croaked as her touch grew bolder. Even as he spoke his hips rocked into the cup of her hand. "You should be rest. Are - are you up to it?" I think I'm going to like this author.

Unbelievably, this was Lisa Eugene's first novel which makes the quality of the story, pace and characters amazing. There is everything here that you could want - a storyline that isn't just about sex (although it does heat up to the nth degree!) but mystery, suspense, malpractice, deaths, you name it.

There is action both between the sheets and on the streets with enough twists and turns to keep you occupied whilst reading. There is insta-lust between Nina and Wade but no insta-love! Refreshingly, this takes time to build up for both characters.

As an aside, I love Nina's parents but I'm so glad that they're not mine!

If you like Contemporary Romance with a dash of action and a slice of suspense then I can definitely highly recommend this book/series.

I really enjoyed this book. Nina is an intelligent woman who is strong and determined. Wade is also passionate about his career. The two work well together and the steamy romance is just an added bonus to this book with a great plot. For a first time writer I wasn't sure what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised. I can't wait to see what's next! This book has HOT sensual writing. Read it in one sitting.

Thought I'd never get this one finished! Wow! I must that this was a surprisingly good read from a first time author. I was actually expecting the "hotness" level to be a bit higher on this one but I was still satisfied with the way that the story flowed very well (and that there was an actual storyline!) and (it) kept my interest up until the end. I wish much success to Miss Eugene and hope that she continues to grow and get better with each book.

The plot was different and interesting. It kept me interested and guessing until the end, I had no idea who the culprit was. I loved both the characters as well. I loved them each as their own character but when they were together.. it was hot! The ending was great too, there wasn't a huge breakup scene that most books have. That was definitely a plus! I can't wait to read the authors next book, it looks good ;)

I loved this book!!! Wade Connolly is a HOT medical malpractice lawyer. Nina Henley is an emergency room doctor. The chemistry between them is electric. They work together to solve his malpractice case, although Wade thinks it's too dangerous for Nina to get involved. The writing is amazing, and puts you right in every moment. The sex is so hot that you need a fan! I definitely recommend this book and can't wait to read her next book, Steal My Heart.

This book was enjoyable. It was a nice little "breather" read for me that didn't hold much angst below the surface and held my attention.
I really liked the two main characters and I loved how quickly the heat started between these two. It was a little tame....and yes even a little corny at some moments, but overall it was good. I would read this as a good in between to catch your bearings from some of the more in depth reads out there.

I really liked this book. It was an easy read with characters Nina & Wade. I enjoyed the quick chemistry between them, and it was very strong. This book is a well written erotic romance/mystery that I had to finish in one sitting. Nina is an intelligent woman who is impassioned and tough. Wade is also passionate about his career as a malpractice lawyer. The two work in combination well and their steamy romance is an added incentive.
