Im Auftrag ihrer großen Schwester Tamako soll sich Miki an dem 16-jährigen Riku rächen, denn die macht ihn für einen schrecklichen Vorfall in der Vergangenheit verantwortlich. Also erschleicht sich Miki im Rollstuhl sitzend sein Vertrauen. Sie merkt jedoch schnell, dass Riku nicht mehr der ist, der er einst war. Wird sie sich am Ende auf das perfide Spiel einlassen oder dem Weg ihres Herzens folgen.?

Although I would consider it the weakest of her works, this is another lovely collection of four short stories by Makino. Why exactly I like this one less than the others I can't quite say - they are drawn with the same beautiful and expressive art and have thoughtful stories despite their short length. Given how little room short story collections have to really deliver anything, Makino always does a fantastic job of bringing the best out of the few pages she has to work with.

The Final Look
The first story of this collection is also the one that gives this volume its name and cover. It is not a spoiler to say that the cover is deceiving: our main character Miki does not need a wheelchair. Rather, she is blackmailed by her older sister to pose as a wheelchair user in order to get revenge. Shy Miki doesn't know how to get out of her situation but soon realises that this form of revenge is very cruel.

Kimi ga Ita
Asuka has a condition that makes her voice very quiet and sometimes even doesn't let her speak at all. She has often been bullied as a result but her childhood friend Shun always stood up for her. What Shun doesn't know is that Asuka has actually fallen in love with him, and it's more than her quiet voice that keeps her from telling him how she feels.

Mizuiro Shoujo
This is the only story with a bit of a super natural element. Aki tries to keep a low profile at school - her view on life is, if you stand out, you will get bullied. Even when she sees others getting bullied, she is too afraid to step in and help, worried it might rebound on her. Bubbly Sera is the type to stand out and who simply doesn't care what others think. With her dyed hair, many piercings and out-of-protocol school wear, she is the complete opposite of Aki. Yet Sera tries to befriend her and encourage her to just be herself, regardless of what others think.

Gorbachev no Tane
A sweet little story of two friends who start a trend at their school where everyone buys flowers in exchange for getting their wishes granted. Both are saddened to find how fast a trend can pass and how meaningless it seems afterwards. Nonetheless, they try to see the good in what they did and how it has affected their's and others' lives.

Ich glaube, dieser Manga ist einer meiner liebsten insgesamt (neben HAL). Der Zeichenstil ist gut, die Charaktere nicht zu extrem kindlich gezeichnet und es lässt sich auch mal schnell überfliegen, wenn man einfach noch mal reinschauen möchte. Wie immer bei Aoi Makino sind die Geschichten recht düster aber sie sind wirklich gut erzählt. Ich empfehle jedem, der Mangas mag dieses hier mal zu lesen, dauert auch nicht zu lange.

Die Zeichnungen und Charaktere sind wieder einmal sehr schön ausgearbeitet und recht detailliert gestaltet.
Eine jede der vier Geschichten hat einen recht traurigen Kern als Hauptthema und die Figuren schaffen es mit Hilfe von anderen durch diese Phasen.
Ich kann mich dieses Mal nicht wirklich entscheiden, welche Story mir nun am besten gefallen hat, sie waren teilweise so unterschiedlich, dass man sie schwer miteinander vergleichen kann.

Ich fand den Band sehr schön und es hat mich teilweise auch sehr bewegt. Wenn man etwas tiefgründigeres mag, dann kann man durchaus zu dem Band greifen.

Hinweis: die Geschichten haben teilweise mit Mobbing zu tun.

The final loop ★★★
In der Titelgeschichte geht es um Räche. Tamako will sich an einem Junge rächen, weil sie denkt, dass er für den Unfall ihres Verlobtes verantwortlich ist. Die Geschichte ist gut aber sie entwickelt sich zu schnell und das macht sie ein bisschen unglaublich.

Und da warst du! ★★★★
Diese handelt um ein Mädchen, deren Stimme zu leise ist, dass niemand sie hören kann. Aber ihr Freund Shun kann immer verstehen, was sie will, auch wenn sie nichts sagt.

Watercolour Girl ★★★
Jetzt haben wir ein Gespenster. Es will ein Mädchen überzeugen, dass Anpassen nicht alle im Leben ist.


Gorbatschows Kern ★
Vielleicht fehlt was in dieser Geschichte.
