Erich finally started his life as a beginning adventurer, trying to at least life up to the tropes from his past table top RPGs. Of course, calling himself a first level fighter is a bit of a misnomer considering his skills, but he refuses to compromise even if that means doing simple and easy things. Not that he can avoid his "curse", drawing in the unwanted attention of the vested interest and having to deal with bigger trouble than he had hoped.

Like earlier volumes, a good read filled with tRPG tropes, solid character development (especially the non humans) and making a good attempt at separating the game tropes from how something in general would work in a "real" world. The plot is not as grand as in some earlier volumes, but there is plenty of action both social and in combat. And much like previous volumes the author at times has the tendency to ramble a bit with flowery descriptions and speech. I am also not entirely sure such mundane low level adventure plot still fits in the story of Erich, but that is more personal feelings than that it should not work like this. The Henderson at the end was a bit boring to be honest, and somewhat unlikely that Erich would ever end up in this position even if he had done what the Henderson assumes.

So, a good read, and I am looking forward to what comes next.

Too much min and not enough max

I can't believe I have read seven of these. Every book has more padding than adventure. Gosh, I loved the concept. The first two books were slow to develop the story but I thought it would pick up. Book seven and he just makes it home. For a person the fought Martin 1 to a stand still, has Erich gotten weaker? I am spending the better part of 10$ for each episode (book) and I am not getting my moneys worth. Not sure I will read anymore.

Good read

As with the previous works, this book continues the trend of being light enough as an easy and enjoyable read, without the dumbed down plots and easily foreseen tropes you'd get from light novels or other books of a similar vein (at least from my limited list of books I have personally read). The little chapters at the end of each novel with the "what could have been" scenarios are a lovely touch.

This volume was pretty nice as we got the heartwarming return home and Erich finally sets out for his adventure with his partner. I only wish that the central conflict had been a little more stimulating. Looking forward to next volume though.

I didn't dislike this book. It's just that my subscription ended before I could finish reading it and I can't re-subscribe right now. By the time that I can, the pre-pub would've already expired. So I will have to wait for another catch-up to finish this series.
