This book offers an overview of some basics of simple living, including: gardening, beekeeping, raising various farm animals, and other miscellany related to subsistence farming. The focus is on their experiences in Vermont, particularly in the 1970s, and thus may not be fully pertinent to many folks. Nevertheless, the information in here is reliable and communicated in a way that is accessible and full of optimism and good humor. It as worth the read.

An quick guide, but not thorough overview of homesteading. If just starting out this could be a book to have for reference, but have other resources to compare and verify what would work best for your program.

A must read. What sets this book apart from similar homesteading books is the author's sound advice based on her own experiences.
