Kinda, Sorta, Basically, Pretty Much Always On My Mind

Rate this book
Once upon a time I fell in love with my best friend, trouble was he was in love with someone else.

The mature thing to do would be to smile and congratulate the happy couple, but what started with a little vodka, a little heartache, and one very hot stranger… ended with me handcuffed in the back of a police car for public indecency.

My sexy stranger was meant to stay just that, a STRANGER, a Band-Aide for my broken heart, but fate had other ideas. Suddenly, he was everywhere, living across the hall, bonding with my family, and taking up real estate in my head.

So, what’s a girl to do when she’s in love with a man she can’t have and falling for another she can’t help but want? Especially when he’s kinda sorta, basically, pretty much always on my mind.

Samatha “Sam” Harris lives near Baltimore, Maryland with her husband David and daughter Ava. Born in Florida, she migrated north which most people agree was a little backwards. She has been an artist all of her life, a Tattoo Artist for more than ten years, and a storyteller since she was a kid.
Sam has a slightly unhealthy love for Frank Sinatra, classic movies, and Jazz and Blues music, but her first love will always be reading. From Romance, to Thrillers, to Historical Fiction and everything in between, she loves to become a part of the story. As a writer she tells the stories that she would want to read.

It was the title of this book that kinda caught my attention. The cover was sorta eye-catching too...colorful and a little different...and then the blurb basically made me want to pick up this book. I'm so glad that I did. This is a refreshing spin on the "in love with the best friend" storyline and I absolutely loved it.

Charlie is in love with her best friend, Sam, but he's marrying someone else. In an attempt to hide her heartache, she ends up in a sticky situation with a hot stranger. She thought that she'd never see him again, but then the stranger (named Wick) moves in next door. He shows up everywhere and bonds with her family. He makes her fall for him, but how can she give Wick her heart when it already belongs to her best friend?

I pretty much read this story in one sitting. This story consumed me from the very first page. I adored Wick from the beginning, and although I was sure that I'd end up (at the very least) disliking a character or two here, I never did. Much of this story has a lighter feel to it, but there is a touch of angst, and there were definitely some heartbreaking moments that had me crying a steady flow of tears. At one point, I wasn't sure how this story might unfold. I really expected it to go a certain way and I was pleasantly surprised when it didn't.

This story flowed perfectly and kept me flipping the pages. There is plenty of steam and some laughs to balance out the heartbreak, and overall, this is just a really enjoyable romance. Samatha Harris is a new-to-me author and I'll definitely be checking out more of her books.

This was such a good read. With Wick's determination, that I loved. With the humor and wisdom we get from the no-nonsense older ladies. A guy that is always there, with the best intentions but making things hard and bugging even you as a reader. Some misunderstandings, and of course, the moment of clarity that Charlie desperately needs. It's a well-rounded story with some lessons to impart. I was completely into it!

There is no way that you won't fall head over heels in love with Wick!! This story opens up with Charlie sulking at the bar during her best friend's engagement party...the best friend she just so happens to be in love with. Lucky for her, Wick is at the bar next to her and is more than willing to help distract her. Even though the night doesn't end on the best note, their story continues when he shows up as her new neighbor. This book is so well written that I literally felt the heartbreak and elation and angst throughout. Even though we start out hot and heavy, I would easily describe this as a slow burn, he-falls-first (and hard), angsty romance. I was rooting for Wick from the first introduction and felt so connected to Charlie and her plight. The side characters are so much fun, Clara and her gang were a hoot. I even felt invested in Sam and Jenna's relationship. This is the first book I've read from this author and am thoroughly impressed. I will definitely be checking out her backlist and following her for any future books she writes.

I loved this book. It was sweet, spicy and fast paced just the way I like it. Wick and Charlie meet at a bar one night and immediately have this crazy attraction to each other. Charlie decides, after many drinks to follow Wick to the back and they quickly get heated. They take their sexcapade outside and get arrested for indecent exposure. Charlie is beyond embarrassed and is glad she'll never see him again, but fate has other plans.
This was just what I needed after the long book I'm still trying to finish. This was my palette cleanser and it definitely did the trick. Wick was so swoon worthy and Charlie was so hopelessly clueless that it was quite endearing.. I highly recommend you pick this one up. You are sure to love it.

WOW!

At the beginning of this book, I truly felt like it was going to be the heartfelt breath of fresh air that I needed after reading all the gut wrenching romance books that I do….this one got me. I have truly never had a book effect me the way that this book did.

I felt heartbreak for myself lol I related to both Charlie and Wick on levels that I never thought I could with a book. I felt like Samatha had been sitting in every single one of my therapy sessions and just wrote down all my thoughts.

This is such a beautiful story of real love and heartbreak and is told in such a way that can relate to so many of us. I’m still so shocked at the way I feel.

To be honest, I didn’t cry once while reading this book but the minute I put it down, it was like I couldn’t stop it. It felt like I was holding my breath the entire time and I could finally let out all the heartbreak and internal struggle that I was going through while reading it.

On another note, the characters are written so beautifully. Samatha’s writing can really make you hate someone that doesn’t even exist lol the character development of Charlie was so amazing, to see her journey into herself was beautiful. Wick, my heart. This man laid it all out there from the start and stuck to his guns. He is a realistic character that every woman wants in their lives. He chose Charlie at every turn and consistently showed her how she deserved to be loved.
Gran, Alice, Mabel, and Ida were hilarious! Their banter and wisdom was perfectly done. Jenna, the sweet soul that she is. She is a beautiful example of a caring, understanding, strong, confident woman that I could only hope to be one day.

I will forever hold this book close to my heart.

This was the perfect blend of funny, spicy, sweet, and totally addictive. The steamy meet-cute start was brilliant - pulled me right into the story and immediately showed the attraction between Wick & Charlie.

I loved that Wick fell first, instantly, and HARD. The way he wooed and fought for her was delicious - he was patient, kind, present, and gave her whatever it was she needed. I loved that the two didn’t fall into an instant relationship - Charlie’s pining over her best friend Sam was real, and it would have felt inauthentic if her and Wick didn’t have that as a barrier to overcome. I also loved that Sam never strayed from being JUST a friend - he truly had her back with Wick (even if Wick often read his actions as the exact opposite) and eventually recognized his own role in not allowing Charlie to open herself up to love. Wick chose Charlie time and again, regardless of the barriers she put up

I also loved Charlie’s overall journey. Stubborn and always giving more of herself than she realistically should, I respected the fact that she had to find herself and her voice, and also that she was resistant to it at first - because it all meant change, and she refused to believe that the change could be anything but bad.

Gran, Alice, Mabel & Ida were also hilarious and insightful and honestly deserve their own books!

Thanks Grey Promotions & Samantha Harris for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Title: Kinda, Sorta, Basically, Pretty Much Always On My Mind
Author: Samatha Harris
Hero/Heroine: Wick & Charlie
Tropes: One Night Stand, Neighbours to Lovers, Unrequited Love, Jealous/Possessive Hero,

tw/cw: mention of parental abandonment,

✨the good ✨

An absolute simp of a hero who makes no apologies for who he is and feels deeply, made this book enjoyable for me. Wick was such a great hero, despite the arrest at the start of the book (it was funny, I promise). I loved how he was so open with Charlie about how he felt, and was always respectful toward her and her feelings. I also sympathised with him massively, as I knew the situation between Charlie and her best friend Sam was wearing on him.

I enjoyed this story and would definitely read more from this author.

✨ the bad ✨

I liked Charlie as a character, however I did feel that she sort of took a lot from Wick and didn’t really give much in return. There were a few mixed signals and I didn’t really appreciate this part of her character.

Thank you to the author and Grey’s Promotions for providing me with a copy of this to read. This is my honest review.

✨overall thoughts: Quick and easy read with a wonderful hero
✨ heat level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️
✨ star rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Okay, so I think basically, pretty much always, this book will be on my mind. I absolutely loved it! I’ve never read Samatha Harris before, and I’m obsessed.

Wick, oh Wick! What a fabulously unique character name too. Hello Sedgewick! He sounded quite yummy. I loved his loving nature, his alpha-ness, his dirty mouth, and his love for Charlie.

I adored how they met. It was a unique twist to a meet cute, if you will, and how their lives started to get interwoven together. Wick’s pursuit of Charlie was swoon worthy and I was screaming at her to get over her issues and jump him, again! Charlie’s character was relatable, quirky, and witty. Charlie is such a good friend that she doesn’t see how she is hurting herself. She’s caring, yet real.

You know when you start a new author and within a few chapters or so, you kind of get a sense on whether the writing is going to be for you. I knew within the first chapter that I was going to be hooked the rest of the book. Once I started, I hated to stop. Despite my two-year-old yelling at me to pick her up LOL

The title and book cover piqued my interest, but it was the writing that made me fall in love. Harris did a wonderful job at creating a relationship despite Charlie pining for her best friend from the beginning of the book. Nothing felt forced, and all of it felt like I was living it out in my head. Or watching it as a movie because this would make for a great movie as well! Who doesn’t love an unrequited love story?!

Kinda, Sorta, Basically Pretty Much Always, On My Mind is an extremely long title for a book but it totally works for this book! Describes it perfectly! Quite eye pulling as well.
I don’t think there was anything I can think of that I didn’t like about this book <3 Where can I meet my Wick?

The winner for the longggest title is this book😆🤣 I dig it!!! I loved Wick!! This was such a fun, sexy, sweet read. Charlie is in love with her best friend, but he’s happily engaged and marrying someone else. Charlie is drowning in misery and meets Wick. He is totally smitten from the beginning, she gets him completely, but is fighting what they could be. They get caught in a moment in an alley, and she thinks she won’t see this guy ever again. Think again..😆🤣🤣 Charlie & Wick were just 🔥🔥🔥.

I enjoyed these two so much!!! The neighbors were so funny, the pig is great, and I love that she was a florist and I can totally relate to everything she was doing floral related!!!

KINDA, SORTA, BASICALLY PRETTY MUCH ALWAYS ON MY MIND by Samatha Harris

This was a new author for me so I always get excited with the prospect of reading a new author. This is Charlie and Wicks story and I must say I truly enjoyed it. It was a quick read but I actually enjoyed that about it. It was fun and entertaining. It was a sweet romance of unrequited love and the crazy crap we do. I mean i can’t imagine being in love with my best friend and seeing them be happy with someone else. This book had enough drama to keep us engaged and turning those pages. I truly enjoyed this book and would definitely be reading more from this author. Would highly recommend.

This is the first time that I've read this author and I think it was the title that grabbed me. The title says it all. One couple - they have a personl that is always kinda, sorta, basically, pretty much always on their minds, but it doesn't necessarily mean that it's each other. There were great characters at every turn in this book that started with instalust, moved along at a nice pace and gave me the HEA I was looking for. However, I really wanted more about the family situations for each of them, for different reasons. For a while it looked like I was going to have my curiosity satisifed, but then nothing came of it.

This was a cute little read. Not necessarily a book that I couldn’t put down but a decent little contemporary romcom. I didn’t necessarily connect with the characters which is probably why I struggled a little bit with the rating.

The book did hook me right away with the initial meet cute, but I felt the story rushed through the FMC falling in love.

I did enjoy the supporting characters a lot in this story. Jenna who was almost a supporting, supporting character was one of my favorites. Also Gran and the other tenants were super fun characters.

Thank you @greyspromo for the advanced reader copy!

THANK YOU GREYS PROMO FOR LETTING ME ARC READ THIS!!!

This book was quite interesting lol. Honestly the old women and the pig named Kevin Bacon were the best. I could really picture them doing all the silly things they did around Charlie and Wic lol. I think all and all this was a decent romantic comedy! I liked Wic and Charlie both but there were times where I felt like things were rushed in the story. However, I did enjoy this with quite a few giggles and smiles. Especially when wick finally gets a punch in LOL.

Charlie is drowning her sorrows at her best friend’s engagement party, a best friend she loves, when she meets Wick in the bar. Their evening did not pan out the way it was supposed to, but soon everywhere she turns, he is there, starting with him becoming her new neighbor. This is a well written story which is easy to read, and fun, with heartbreak, emotions, angst, family, friendships, humor, witty banter, romance, and love, which leads to an entertaining and steamy addictive page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

This was a sweet and steamy romance about unrequited love and the impulsive things you do with crazy consequences. This book was well with plenty of drama and romance. The FMC was likeable and you could empathise with her emotions. She’s been in love
with her best friend who’s engaged to someone else. She bumps into Wick at the best friends engagement party- their chemistry is fab and I loved seeing their relationship develop. Wick makes for a swoon worthy book boyfriend. Their road to HEA is bumpy with plenty of laughter and lessons to learn. Thoroughly recommend

This is my first read by this author, and I must say that I quite enjoyed the storyline and characters. It is a sweet romance between Charlie and Wick. These two likeable souls and the unique plot make for an enjoyable read. It is a love story with drama and steam, sexual tension and chemistry, and humor and charm, plus appealing secondary characters to keep the reader interested. Entertaining.

What drew me to this book was the cover. The bright neon colors of purple, green, pink and blue was great.

Once I started reading this book I was hooked. I enjoyed seeing Charlie and Wick's relationship. I loved seeing Wick's determination to win Charlie. Charlie and Wick just worked so well together.

Also add in Charlie's grandmother and her no nonsense friends makes for some great characters. This was such a great book to read.
