Like rocket fuel for the mind!
What is speed-reading? How do you do it? Now that we've entered the Information Age, more and more people are asking these questions every day. Whether you'd like to get through the morning newspaper faster, manage that thick stack of reports and proposals on your desk, or just curl up with a juicy novel, speed-reading is one of the most valuable skills you can possess.
Few programs for reading speed and comprehension can boast that they're both highly effective and entertaining. Unlike most other programs, Power Speed-Reading offers potent techniques to improve comprehension and speed when reading while delivering powerful hypnosis methods for overcoming any resistance to flying through reading material.
If you've tried other speed-reading programs before and failed, fasten your seatbelt for a fun and fabulous ride like nothing you've ever experienced. Power Speed-Reading really packs a punch, allowing you to break through all barriers and improve your reading ability, leaving only one How soon can you get started?
I listened to the audiobook and it’s horrible. It is roughly 2h and 5m long and the portion about speed reading is about 35 minutes.
The author claims she now reads 3,000 words per minute and has been clocked at over 10,000 words per minute and she advocates for only 75% comprehension and says your comprehension will improve as you practice.
After the 5-minute speed reading test the author had a commercial about her hypnotism services and then the book provides a warning to not continue practicing hypnosis or listening to the remainder of the book if you are driving a car or operating heavy machinery.
I stopped listening at this point.
During the first reading test I read at about 220 wpm.
Somewhere between a 1 and a 2 on this one. As short as it is, it manages to be repetitive in a word for word way-can't she just ask you to play the same thing each day instead of repeating it in the already short audio? Also I don't care for the 70% thing. With most subjects I expect more than that from myself. When reading for pleasure, why bother speed reading?
This was not a useful resource. The first disk had an individual explain how after learning to speed read she is able to do so much more. The second disk had a person hypnotize the listener to teach them to speed read and the third disk included workbook pages. It was a waste of time.
Really just something to listen to while I walked or went for a run. Learnt some things about reading faster that I have implemented on my reading. It was a fun and witty book, I found myself questioning why you would want to read fast; you would not enjoy the book then? She then explained that with fast reading you get to enjoy it and at the same time read more books you enjoy.
Right now I don't feel the need to read fast also I'm quite fine with my reading pace at the moment and my words per minute is about average. I may add some of the tips in the future, who knows.
