We all hear about important scientific discoveries, but do we ever take the time to learn about all of the hard work that scientists put into making those discoveries!? It may seem like they happen overnight, but let me assure you that they do not!

This book takes the reader on 6 scientific adventures that really bring scientific discoveries into a new light. Do you know why vultures are so important to India? Do you know how scientists were able to discover the age and cause of death of a person that lived over 5,000 years ago? Well you will after you read this book.

The text is engaging, accessible to kids (and science newbies like myself), and it includes fun do-it-yourself activities that relate to each scientific mystery. The pictures involve a fun mix of silly illustrations and real-life photos. If you're looking for a way to make real-world connections to science in the classroom - this book is the way to go!

This text shows real life mysteries and explains how scientist solved them. I would use this book with my upper elementary students. This text encourages experimenting and leads to great discussion and questioning.

Interesting real life mysteries and how they were solved. I skimmed through half of it because I had already read about some of these before.
Especially, thyroid Mary. Girl needed to wash her hands! Nasty.
